Chapter 477 It Will Be Better Tomorrow

Zhan Mohan glanced behind Jing Yan first, and only when he saw no one else following did his expression improve.

Jing Yan was unaware of what Jiang Siyu had done to Wei Yumeng, so he felt no guilt upon arriving. Instead, he had matters concerning Jiang Siyu to discuss with Zhan Mohan.

"Yumeng seems to be recovering well, and the children are healthy, right?"

Wei Yumeng pursed her lips and nodded, not wanting to say much to him. Although the wrongdoings were Jiang Siyu's doing, Jing Yan had always been protective of Jiang Siyu, making him an accomplice in a way.

Wei Yumeng's resentment over the children's situation made it difficult for her to accept Jing Yan, who was sitting in front of her, with ease.

Zhan Mohan understood Wei Yumeng's concerns. However, Jing Yan was his friend. While as a father, he should not forgive anyone associated with Jiang Siyu, his rationality prevailed as a friend. To avoid making Wei Yumeng uncomfortable, he led Jing Yan out of the ward.

Judging by Jing Yan's demeanor today, he wasn't here just for a visit.

"Yesterday, Grandpa Zhan reminded me to check my accounts. I discovered several substantial expenditures from my private account," he said, pausing with a pained expression.

Though he spoke subtly, his meaning was clear enough.

From the moment Zhan Mohan decided to collaborate with Xin Ran to design Jiang Siyu's downfall, he intended for her to lose both her wealth and her person. However, the recent project investments had indeed exceeded normal levels.

Based on his understanding of Jiang Siyu's financial capabilities, he doubted she could afford such investments. He had sensed something amiss then, but a series of events had unfolded too rapidly for him to inform Jing Yan. Fortunately, his grandfather had also discovered this and alerted Jing Yan. Otherwise, it might have been Jing Yan, not Jiang Siyu, who lost everything.

"Have you checked Jiang Siyu's accounts?"

Jing Yan shook his head at his question. "I tried, but her account is heavily encrypted. I don't believe this doesn't prove there's something wrong."

Zhan Mohan had already anticipated this outcome. He patted Jing Yan's shoulder reassuringly, "It's good that you discovered it in time. I'm also preparing to wrap things up."

Jiang Siyu's actions towards the children revealed the extent of her ruthlessness. Keeping such a threat around would always endanger Wei Yumeng.

Jing Yan, who had previously been swayed by emotion, was now forced to face reality. He realized Zhan Mohan had been making arrangements all along.

Zhan Mohan briefly outlined his plan with Xin Ran. Although Zhan Yichen felt it was too harsh to punish Jiang Siyu this way, he knew that such retaliation was warranted for her actions. Moreover, he had promised Zhan Mohan that if Jiang Siyu didn't mend her ways, he would no longer concern himself with her. Now, he understood that Jiang Siyu had only ever used him, rendering any past affection meaningless.

"Don't worry, I won't leak any information. If you need my help, just ask."

He implicitly approved of the plan and even intended to become a part of it.

However, Zhan Mohan sensed his hesitation from his expression. "If this makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to be involved." Knowing his feelings for Jiang Siyu, Zhan Mohan wouldn't pressure him.

But Jing Yan shook his head. "She trusts me quite a bit right now, knowing I won't betray her, so she's not on guard around me. It would be more reliable for me to handle some things."

As he uttered the words "won't betray her," Jing Yan himself felt like laughing. Things that everyone else knew, and yet he felt no pride in them; they were merely proof of his unrequited love.

Since he had stated his willingness, Zhan Mohan said no more. The plan to deal with Jiang Siyu was already in motion.

At this moment, Jiang Siyu was oblivious to the men plotting against her, still reveling in her successful swap of the babies. The thought of the chaos that would ensue when the truth of the children's paternity was revealed to the Zhan family made her smile in her sleep.

"Wei Yumeng, you think your so-called trust is unbreakable? I want to see who will defend you when the truth of non-biological father and son is laid bare before the Zhan family. Only when you are utterly ruined will I truly be happy."

The babies only needed three days in the incubator before they could be moved back to the ward. Wei Yumeng's recovery was also progressing well, so there was no need for prolonged hospitalization. A week after the births, she and Grandpa Zhan were discharged.

"After giving birth, I felt like a patient staying in the ward. Now that I'm discharged, I finally feel refreshed and much happier." She chattered incessantly to Mu Linjing, perhaps finding hospitals inherently oppressive places.

Mu Linjing was currently doting on the two infants, her attention largely focused on them as she played with them. Noticing her distraction, Wei Yumeng huffily snatched the babies back. "If you like children so much, go have your own. It's not like you can't."

Mu Linjing blushed, thinking this was absurd. Where would she go to have children?

Just then, Zhan Yichen nudged her shoulder. "If you're really that envious, I'm willing to contribute my part to fulfill your wish." He put on a coy expression, which almost made Mu Linjing burst out laughing.

"No need to trouble yourself with that, but there's something you need to take care of."

Wei Yumeng looked bewildered. "What else is there?"

Seeing her dazed expression, Mu Linjing sighed. "Remarry, sister. Even though the outside world doesn't know you two are divorced, you can't stay divorced, can you? The children need to be registered, and how can they be registered without a marriage certificate?"

Wei Yumeng suddenly realized. Perhaps she had been too caught up in the smooth sailing at the Zhan family's place, and with her grandfather's acceptance, she had pushed aside those unpleasant memories. She had almost forgotten that she and Zhan Mohan were still divorced.

Grandpa Zhan, sitting in the front row, also chimed in. "Tomorrow is Monday, Mohan. Take Yumeng to handle the remarriage." The divorce had been his doing behind their backs. Now that they were remarrying, he wanted to show his support, as a form of blessing. Although his blessing was subtly expressed, Wei Yumeng was content.

Zhan Mohan took her hand. "Don't worry, Grandpa. We'll get it done tomorrow."
