The doctor looked up at Wei Yumeng, withdrew the needle, and said in a low voice, "You are right, it should be changed. I apologize. There have been too many patients these past two days, and I've been so busy I'm dizzy."
Soon, the doctor changed to a new one.
Watching his trembling hands, Wei Yumeng felt increasingly uneasy. This doctor seemed completely unreliable.
Seeing him prepare to inject again with a new syringe, Wei Yumeng walked directly in front of him, waved away the syringe, and said, "Let's wait a bit longer. I know an old doctor who will be here soon."
"Let's do it now, the medication's effect is time-limited," the doctor explained, attempting to insert the needle into Song Lijun's arm again.
"I said no," Wei Yumeng's voice suddenly rose, her eyes fixed on the doctor.
She had felt something was off about him since she entered. A hospital wouldn't allow a doctor to have such long hair that it obscured his eyes.
His current agitated demeanor further amplified her suspicions.
"Yumeng, what's wrong?" Song Lijun asked, seeing her strong reaction.
Wei Yumeng turned and said softly, "Mrs. Feng, I think this doctor might not be very skilled. Let's wait for the one I know to come and examine you."
"You're seeking death!"
Wei Yumeng was very close to the doctor, and his angry curse rang clearly in her ears.
As expected, there was a problem!
"What do you want to do!" Wei Yumeng shouted.
"Get lost!"
The doctor, furious, pushed Wei Yumeng aside and, clenching the syringe, tried to stab it into Song Lijun.
"Help! Help!" Song Lijun, terrified by the sudden turn of events, slumped to the ground, watching helplessly as the doctor approached her.
Just as the syringe was about to hit her, the doctor suddenly stopped. He looked back and saw Wei Yumeng clinging tightly to his leg from behind.
"Damn it, let go!" the doctor roared, kicking his leg forward forcefully.
Wei Yumeng used the momentum to quickly get up and kicked the doctor to the ground. The syringe he was holding fell to the floor.
"Help!"
Song Lijun was too scared to move and could only cry for help.
The soundproofing in the high-class ward was excellent; the nurses at the other end of the corridor didn't detect any commotion.
In the room, Wei Yumeng quickly picked up the syringe and threw it out the window. If this person was so determined to inject Song Lijun, there was definitely something wrong with it.
"You!" Seeing the syringe thrown, the doctor stood up and glared at Wei Yumeng, his neck and face turning red with anger.
"Mrs. Feng!"
Before she could catch her breath, the next second Wei Yumeng saw the doctor take a small knife from a nearby mechanical stand. He raised it high, his eyes full of bloodlust, and walked towards Song Lihua.
Blood, fresh blood, meandered across the floor like a small river.
Feng Zhenhua quickly ran to the bedside and pressed the nurse call button. Seeing the doctor about to flee, he rushed forward to stop him but was kicked to the ground by the assailant.
"Yumeng, Yumeng," Song Lijun shouted.
The blood on the floor flowed more and more. Feng Zhenhua could only watch helplessly as the attacker escaped. He immediately rushed to check on Wei Yumeng's injuries.
After the medical staff arrived, Wei Yumeng was rushed into the emergency room. The red light illuminated, and she fell into a deep coma.
Meanwhile, in the office of Zhan's Group, Zhan Mohan was signing a stack of documents. Suddenly, his pen slipped, and a large drop of ink fell onto the white paper beside him, slowly spreading outwards.
He frowned irritably. Just as he was about to switch pens, Fang Xun rushed in.
"Mr. Zhan, something has happened to Madam."
When Zhan Mohan arrived at the hospital, Song Lijun was crying uncontrollably in Feng Zhenhua's arms.
"It's all my fault, it's all my fault."
Even if she were to lose her life because of this, she didn't want her daughter to suffer even the slightest harm.
Feng Zhenhua had also lost his composure. He kept looking at the red light of the emergency room, his eyes brimming with unshed tears.
Zhan Mohan's expression was terrifyingly cold.
"Mrs. Feng, what exactly happened?" Zhan Mohan's voice seemed to come from hell, sending chills down one's spine.
Song Lijun sobbed, "That doctor was suspicious... Yumeng, Yumeng argued with him to save me. Who knew he would try to kill me with that knife."
Feng Zhenhua patted Song Lijun's shoulder, urging her to calm down. He explained the whole sequence of events.
He was filled with self-reproach, "Mr. Zhan, this is all my fault. If I had been more vigilant, Yumeng wouldn't have ended up like this."
The malevolent aura emanating from Zhan Mohan was as if he wanted to kill. He believed that the Fengs were not at fault intentionally, but this incident was clearly orchestrated.
Stepping aside, Zhan Mohan took out his phone and called Fang Xun, ordering him to find that doctor, no matter what.
A few minutes later, Fang Xun arrived at the hospital with the investigation results.
He walked up to Zhan Mohan, bowed his head slightly, and said apologetically, "Mr. Zhan, the surveillance was too thoroughly obstructed by the perpetrator, and we couldn't ascertain their identity."
Zhan Mohan, who had been looking down, suddenly raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, and roared, "Nonsense!"
Fang Xun was about to say more when a hurried voice was heard from nearby.
Catherine, her face filled with panic, ran up to Song Lijun. Seeing the bloodstains on her, she covered her mouth and asked, "Mom, are you... are you hurt?"
Song Lijun, seeing her alarmed expression, quickly comforted her, "It's okay, Mom is fine. It's Yumeng..."
Mentioning Wei Yumeng, Song Lijun couldn't help but choke back sobs.
Catherine sneered inwardly. To think that her own daughter would cry so sadly when injured, how hypocritical!
Despite her disdain, she feigned concern, "I've just heard from someone. Is Yumeng okay?"
After saying that, she hugged Song Lijun again and pretended to say, "It's all my fault. If I hadn't gone out, perhaps this wouldn't have happened, and Yumeng wouldn't be like this."
"Silly child, what are you saying? How can this be your fault?" Song Lijun patted her shoulder.
Just then, the emergency room door suddenly opened, and a nurse came out. Before Zhan Mohan could react, Catherine was the first to rush forward.
She stopped the nurse and asked, "How is Yumeng now? Is she alright? Do you need our help?"
The barrage of questions confused the nurse. She pushed Catherine aside and said, "Everything is fine. The surgery is going smoothly. You just need to wait quietly."
