Chapter 176: Have a Chance

Chapter 176: Have a Chance

Halle didn’t expect that Titus would tell such a ridiculous lie to Spring.

He knew that he was not Emily’s father. But he told his family that Emily was his baby and even allowed his mother to make trouble. Titus was crazy.

"I have told you that I will not remarry with you. Please tell Spring that Emily isn’t your daughter."

"Halle, believe me. I will treat you and Emily well, as long as you give me a chance..."

Titus was a little anxious, but he was sitting in the wheelchair. He could only ask Halle to forgive him.

"I won’t give you a chance. If you continue to do so and allow your mother to disturb my life, I will sue you."

Then everyone would know that Emily was not his child.

Halle just wanted to scare Titus. She didn’t dare to sue him. If that happened, Horton would know that Emily was his daughter.

Horton was a doctor. If he hadn’t believed her words, he would have known the truth.

After all, it was easy for him to get Emily’s DNA.

When Titus heard Halle’s words, his face turned ugly.

He was also afraid of it. If others knew that Emily was not his daughter, it would be impossible for him to remarry Halle.

He was too anxious. Halle was still angry with him. He should take it step by step to make Halle change her opinion of him.

"I’m sorry. Halle, are you angry with me? I didn’t mean to make you angry. Trust me! I just wanted Mom to bring you and Emily back home as soon as possible. I’m a cripple now. I’m afraid that you will be angry and hate me more when you see me. So I asked Mom to explain it to you."

"I don’t want to get married or go back to the Tyson’s. I just hope that you won’t disturb my life anymore. We have divorced and Emily has nothing to do with you. If you continue to pester me, there is no good result."

"I have changed a lot. I don’t care about you and the Tyson family anymore."

Titus looked at her in a daze. Her appearance was the same as before, but she had changed a lot.

Halle seemed to have changed a lot. Why had she changed so much? Just because he hurt her once?

"Halle, give me another chance. I will definitely..."

Titus wanted to turn the wheelchair in a hurry, but Hilla stopped him. "Halle has made it clear that if you don’t persuade Spring to stop, the result will be bad. Last year, we won against you. Do you think you can win this year?"

Titus stared at Hilla with astonishment, whom he had looked down upon before.

He couldn’t hurt Hilla now.

She was a member of the Anderson family. He even couldn’t force Halle to remarry with him.

"Halle, what you said is great. You have done well. It’s right to cut off from these bad guys."

She had supposed that Halle would be gentle and spend much time with Titus.

Unexpectedly, Halle didn’t hesitate and refused him directly.

Hilla sighed with relief. Titus should realize that it was impossible to remarry Halle. "Let’s go!"

Halle was calm. She was unwilling to mention the Tyson family, which meant great pain and sorrow to her.

Every time she saw the Tysons, she would think of the five years full of pain.

Hilla was about to drive the car when her phone rang. It was Orlenna. Hilla picked it up immediately.

Hilla’s face turned pale. Halle asked nervously, "What’s wrong?"

"Master Anderson is critically ill!"

Hilla loosened his grip on the phone. It fell to the ground with a snap. Orlenna had hung up the phone. Halle’s mind was filled with the message that she should go to the hospital immediately.

"Where? I’ll go with you."

"No. You should go back and take care of Emily."

Horton had to go to the hospital too.

So Halle must go back to take care of Emily.

Halle was stunned and reminded her that, "Be careful. You should go to the hospital now. I can take a taxi back."

"Halle..."

"It’s more urgent. Don’t worry about me. I will take care of myself."

Halle went out of the car and walked to the roadside.

Hilla drove away after hesitation. Halle thought for a while and called Horton.

Halle sighed with relief when she knew that Horton was still there. Then she went

back by taxi.

Hilla rushed to the hospital operating room.

Bruce, Margaret, and Orlenna were waiting there. Hilla rushed forward and grabbed Bruce. Bruce also grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into his arms.

"How is it going?"

Why was he critically ill? She had supposed that Tyree would survive this year.

Orlenna wiped the tears from her eyes and stepped forward to comfort her. "Don’t worry. He is in the operating room. The doctor is the best. He’ll be fine."

They knew his real situation but no one wanted to say it.

Hilla looked at Bruce. He looked serious and worried. He stared at the door of the operation room, not saying a word.

The corridor was quiet. Even Margaret, who had always been talkative, was holding Orlenna’s arm tightly and sitting on the chair.

It was the first time Hilla had seen such a serious expression on her face. She looked nervous and her eyes were red.

"He’ll be fine. He’ll be fine."

Hilla lowered her head and held onto Bruce’s sleeves tightly, as if only Bruce would reassure her.

Bruce held her hand and the warmth gradually spread from the palm.

Hilla raised her head and see Bruce’s face.

She opened her mouth but didn’t say anything. Bruce said, "Don’t worry. I’m here with you. Don’t be afraid!"

Once Bruce was here, she was not afraid!

Margaret lowered her head, sniffed, and whispered, "Just now, he was talking about you and Lucas. He is worried about."

Tyree just wanted to take one last look at his descendants, no matter whether they were filial. Although Rudi was stupid and bad, he was still Tyree’s grandson.

Hilla was stunned. "The reason why Master Anderson was talking about her is might because..." she thought.

Hilla touched her belly. At this moment, she hoped that she could get pregnant!

...

The operation went on from noon to afternoon. Hilla didn’t know how long they had been waiting. She came back to her sense when Bruce moved slightly.

"Dad, Dad, how are you?"

Orlenna looked at Tyree nervously. His face was pale and thin, and he was still unconscious.

Margaret wiped her tears and whispered, "He won’t die, right?"

"What nonsense are you talking about? He will be fine."

Orlenna’s husband had died when she was young. She sometimes felt depressed because of Rudi and Lucas. But she knew that Tyree had taken good care of Bruce and her these years.

Even if Tyree doted on Rudi, he had always regarded Bruce as the heir of the group.

So she and Bruce could have enough shares and assets in the Anderson family.

Although Tyree was not her biological father, they had got along well these years.

Orlenna was sad when she saw Tyree lying on the bed.

"I am worried about him."

In her memory, she had never seen a dead person. When her grandmother passed away, she was not born yet. When her father passed away, she was too young to have no concept of life, illness, and death.

For the first time, she felt that someone was dying. She was terrified.

Hilla clenched her hands with a pale face. She heard what Bruce and the doctor were talking about.

She couldn’t hear clearly what they were saying.

"Master Anderson has been rescued. But he is too old. I’m afraid he won’t be able to survive this winter."

These words echoed in her ears.

She didn’t hear the words clearly, but she seemed to understand them.

For the first time, she felt that these words were so terrifying. It reminded her of the scene when her parents went away.

She felt so terrified and helpless. And she could do nothing.

Hilla took a step back in horror, not daring to look at Tyree.

Although Tyree was alive and lay on the bed now, he would pass away like her parents one day.

"Hilla, is it real that Master Anderson can’t survive this winter?"

Margaret lowered her head and cried softly. She didn’t dare to follow Orlenna to the ICU.

She was scared.

"No, he will get better. He hasn’t seen what he wants to see. He will be fine."

Hilla shook his head and held Margaret’s hand.

She watched Bruce and Orlenna go to the ICU, but she didn’t dare to follow them.

People were afraid of facing death, not their death, but that of the people they cared about.

"Hilla, I’m so worried."

Margaret hugged Hilla, her voice full of fear. She didn’t dare to tell Orlenna. She was afraid that Orlenna would scold her. And Bruce would also ignore her.

She could only hug Hilla, who was also helpless.

"Don’t worry, he will be fine."

Even Hilla didn’t believe what she said.

They stayed at the hospital until late at night. Orlenna’s blood pressure went up. So Margaret took her back home.

Hilla sat beside Bruce and they were silent. When Horton came, he frowned at the sight of the scene.

"You should go back. Doctors and nurses will take good care of Master Anderson the whole day. You can do nothing here. You’re better to go home and have a rest."

He looked at Bruce and said, "You have to manage your company well. Master Anderson will be angry with you if he knows you put the company aside."

"Although you are fine, Hilla should have a good rest. Do you want Hilla to get sick? Do you want to die with Master Anderson?"

Horton was used to such occasions. He could remain calm even if his family were critically ill.

There was no point in staying at the hospital, not to mention that Tyree would not wake up so quickly. Even if he woke up, he would not be able to speak for a while.

Bruce frowned slightly and seemed to be persuaded.

Horton continued, "Go back and take a good rest. He has been rescued. Don’t worry. Trust our doctors."

Bruce glared at Horton. He got up and pulled up Hilla.

Hilla raised her head and said in a daze, "Is Master Anderson awake?"

"What are you thinking? He won’t wake up tonight. Hurry up and go back. I’ll send you home."

Horton reached out his hand to Bruce.

He was afraid that the director would recognize him. So he took a taxi.

The hospital was now a forbidden area for him. The director would get angry if he saw Horton.

He had to drive Bruce’s car.

Bruce threw his car key over, reached out to hold Hilla’s waist, and pulled her into his arms.

"Let’s go home."

"But..."

Hilla looked at the ICU.

Bruce pulled her go back and Horton followed them.

When they returned to the Lakeshore Center, Horton didn’t get out of the car. "I’ll take a look at Halle. Could I borrow the car?"

Hilla looked at Horton in the car and said, "Please take good care of her. Halle had cut off from Titus. Emily is only her daughter."

Although Hilla wanted to take care of Tyree, she knew that she couldn’t always stay at the hospital. Since Tyree was sick, Hilla might not have much time to look after Halle and Emily.

What Hilla said was not clear, but she hoped that Horton could understand it, at least took care of Halle when she was in confinement.

Horton said, "Don’t worry. I will take good care of them. Anyway, I can’t go to the hospital often."

He revealed a playful smile, and there was a bit of cynicism.

He didn’t forget to comfort Hilla. He said, "Don’t worry. I’ve asked about Master Anderson’s condition. Although he is at the end of his life, he’ll be fine in the next two months. Don’t worry. Master Anderson might even ask to return home tomorrow morning."

Bruce comforted her but she didn’t get relaxed. But Horton’s words reassured her. There was one month or two months. She still had a chance!
