"What's going on? I didn't attack it, so why does it seem so uncomfortable? Could it be poisoned?"
After considering for a moment, Jiang Fan found this explanation illogical.
Frogs possessed a resistance unmatched by other animals; many potent venoms were ineffective against them.
How could a small flashlight possibly inflict significant damage on one?
There was only one explanation: when these animals were enlarged, their innate nature, flaws, and weaknesses were amplified as well.
"See, I told you there was nothing to worry about. This frog just seems uncomfortable, let's let it go."
After saying this, Jiang Fan prepared to release it.
As long as he held the flashlight, the frog couldn't harm him.
It was best not to disrupt the balance between creatures lightly, lest it lead to the collapse of this world.
With that, Jiang Fan slowly lowered his flashlight. The frog in front of him stopped trembling and stared fearfully at Jiang Fan and the device in his hand.
Jiang Fan spread his hands and slowly moved his body, seemingly signaling to the frog that he meant no harm, only wishing to pass by.
Due to its magnified body, the frog's mind had also become incredibly sharp. Seeing Jiang Fan's actions, it didn't attack.
It understood the threat posed by the flashlight Jiang Fan held; merely shining it on its body caused its entire form to react violently.
Otherwise, Jiang Fan wouldn't have been able to leave so easily, having been swallowed by its tongue.
"It's afraid of us now. That's good. Since it's scared, we can leave. Remember, don't provoke it."
"Otherwise, with just us, we might not be its match."
After leaving, Jiang Fan became even more cautious, constantly hiding and darting. Although his movement was slow, he didn't suffer any other harm.
Even Zhou Niannian had become incredibly wary, having realized that this world was not simple, nor was it the fairytale world she had imagined.
Initially, Zhou Niannian had believed this to be a fantastical realm where all creatures were enlarged and lived peacefully together.
She hadn't expected the insects in this world to be no joke; their lethality was immense, and their hostility was palpable.
Even in reality, their lethality and hostility weren't insignificant, but this time, Zhou Niannian was seeing them enlarged, shattering her previous fantasies about all insects.
"Fortunately, these bugs aren't cockroaches."
"If there were cockroaches, and one crawled onto our faces, it would probably crush us to death."
Zhou Niannian couldn't resist making a remark to lighten the tense and awkward atmosphere.
Jiang Fan remained silent, as they spotted a vast patch of grass in the distance.
This grass was unlike the scrubland at the edge of the forest; this grass was immense.
Here, the grass seemed to grow outwards.
Before entering, the grass had all been retracted near the ground. As Jiang Fan passed, they would extend their bodies, ensnaring his legs, to be consumed by other plants.
They used this method to supplement their nutrients.
Once the small grasses trapped a person, other insects or trees would attack it, and after devouring the corpse, the remaining bones would become soil nutrients, fully absorbed by them.
Clearly, the grass before them was not as they had imagined.
These small grasses appeared to have no hostile intent, merely growing tall and stretching as far as the eye could see.
"This is probably the moving point for the next checkpoint. If we continue forward, we might find clues."
Because everything in this world was enormous, finding clues was extremely difficult.
They had already traveled for a considerable time just to move.
Fortunately, persistence paid off, and they finally found something that offered a sliver of hope.
Upon entering the grass, there were clearly no other creatures. It was strange, given the vastness and thickness of the grass, which should have attracted many insects. Yet, not a single insect was visible in the vicinity.
"What's wrong? I feel something strange here, like some silent danger is approaching us."
Zhou Niannian didn't take Jiang Fan's words to heart. Instead, she joyfully ran around the grassy area.
"How can that be? Look how safe it is here. These grasses are harmless, it's a veritable paradise! We can probably stay here for a while without any issue."
Just then, Zhou Niannian's voice grew faint, followed by a cry for help, and she vanished from her spot.
When Jiang Fan chased after her, he couldn't find Zhou Niannian.
"Zhou Niannian!"
Jiang Fan shouted, but received no reply. He continued to run, and his companions followed him.
In the blink of an eye, all of them had disappeared.
Jiang Fan slowly opened his eyes and found himself suspended in mid-air, with a terrified Zhou Niannian beside him, who had fainted.
Jiang Fan felt a sense of dread in the air, as the distance to the ground seemed impossibly far.
Moreover, they had fallen from the ground, yet at the weakest moment, they had passed through clouds.
This was clearly like two mirror worlds; they had fallen from the surface of one to the other.
Fortunately, Jiang Fan managed to hold Zhou Niannian close and then woke her up.
"Don't you dare pass out here! We might be landing soon. Although I don't know if we'll survive, I think it's highly unlikely we won't."
Given the nature of this world, Jiang Fan believed this wasn't a trap at all, but rather a jump point to the next scene.
