Chapter 89: The Youngest Variseth (1)

Knock. Knock. Knock. The peace was gone just like that, not that it was surprising since the moments don’t seem to last.

"Seems I have yet another visitor." I mumble under my breath.

I move away from Ghost and Lilly to open up the door, expecting to see Alarion or Sylas. It makes sense for either of them to be the ones visiting me.

Upon opening the door I’m greeted by a girl with short white hair that just barely reaches her neck with dark blue streaks in her hair, she also seems to be wearing this white elegant attire.

A nice white coat, some sort of blue undershirt with a white shirt as well. I’m not used to seeing this kind of attire.

Her blue eyes were just staring right at me, she didn’t seem to have much to say at first.

"Um... Can I help you?" I ask while feeling the sudden flush in my cheeks.

Something about her was causing me to blush, I could feel it clear as day but maybe it’s the way she’s just staring at me.

"You’re Rokuro. I wanted to meet you I guess." She responds bluntly while still staring at me.

"Of course. I don’t believe we met." I say with a bit of confusion in my voice.

"We haven’t. My name is Aria Variseth." She introduces herself.

She walks past me into the room after that and takes a seat on the bed. I can see the look of confusion on Ghost and Lilly’s faces but I don’t know what’s going on either.

At least it’s a cute girl but I can’t figure out what she wants. Something about her is completely different from the other Variseth family members.

Alarion is an interesting guy and Sylas seems to care about true strength instead of people who hold back.

But Aria doesn’t seem to be anything like them so far but then again this is the first time we’ve met. She’s also acting relatively comfortable with us but this is their home so maybe it isn’t so weird.

"Someone strong like you shouldn’t be here. It is a waste of time when you can be doing important stuff elsewhere." Aria speaks up while crossing her legs. The same stare just piercing right through me.

I walk past Ghost and Lilly to take a seat next to Aria on the bed. "I’d like to avoid a war so I came to talk to those who can help with preventing it." I respond with a calm tone.

"Yeah. The rumors of war are spreading like wildfire below the city." Ghost chimes in while beginning to cross her arms.

"War? I was not aware of such a stupid thing. My brothers keep me out of the loop because I’m the youngest." Aria says with a bit of confusion in her voice.

So being the youngest of her siblings has left her with less information than they have. I can’t say that it is surprising based on how the city runs up here.

Families being in charge instead of the guild up here makes it a bit different from how the cities below operate. I wouldn’t really know much if I was in her shoes so what is there to gain here?

She can still be helpful. You don’t seem to notice her aura, it’s just as strong as Sylas’s so she is definitely worth talking to.

It would probably be wise if I started learning how to see these aura’s a bit better so I can get a gauge on people. I didn’t notice a damn thing about her when the door opened up.

Bringing her into the group wouldn’t be a bad idea. Obviously you’d have to learn about her a bit more before that but she already seems interested in you.

Probably my power, not anything else besides that. She wouldn’t leave them behind to join us on our journey.

Poke. Poke. I can feel something poking my cheek, as I turn my head it becomes obvious that it was just Aria.

"You get lost in your thoughts too. That we have in common. Alarion will probably want you to stay here for awhile." She says with her head slightly tilted as she leans on her other hand looking at me.

"I’ve always done it but it doesn’t seem to be that bad in life or death situations, not that I’m aware of at least." I reply while looking down towards my hands.

It has become a lot more obvious lately that I’ve been locked away in my own head. I don’t really have an answer for why it happens so much lately, but it hasn’t hurt anyone.

"I don’t mind you staying, personally speaking." Aria says as her cheeks begin to blush slightly.

"Maybe it could be beneficial. If there’s anything you can share with me that is." I respond while looking up at her with a warm smile.

My kindness towards everyone lately has been baffling to me since I was always treated like garbage. Some people won’t deserve it and obviously there are some that won’t get that kindness either way.

That Lazarus guy definitely didn’t get any kindness from me and neither did the shadow guy.

I’m sure a day will come where my kindness is no longer there. That rage, that hatred... It still dwells deep within me. It fuels a lot of my power during the bigger fights but that isn’t always great to utilize.

"I’ll happily show you around the manor. There might even be some information I can find out for you." Aria says with a little bit of excitement.

That shift in her tone is a bit odd but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s bad. If she can find out some information about the war rumors somehow, it would be helpful.

"I’d appreciate that a lot." I reply with an appreciative tone in my voice.

"Of course another one is going to challenge us." Lilly mutters softly.
