Chapter 83: The First Family(2)

Chapter 83: The First Family(2)

I’m not really sure I know how to move forward in this current predicament. It feels like it should be pretty obvious what the answer is but I’m not entirely sure that it is right.

My mind draws a blank when suddenly a woman wraps her arms around Alarion. Her curly long blonde hair drapes past her as she seems to hug him. She was wearing a nice white dress, has green eyes, and a nice pair of double D’s. Big boobs is always a win but something about her was off.

She looks like she is whispering something to him, maybe I can hear it if I really focus. My power has been pretty helpful with a lot of different situations so this could be one.

"No need to scare the guests Master. Why don’t we show them hospitality." The woman whispers while staring ahead at me.

Alarion looks towards us with more of a warm smile now. "You all can stay here for a day or two. It would be great for you to meet the rest of my family. Perhaps we can prove that a war won’t be happening." Alarion speaks with kindness in his voice.

Would it really be smart for us to stay here after everything he just said before? I don’t want to give off the wrong impression by just leaving all of a sudden either...

I guess staying here won’t be the worst idea I’ve had since this journey has started.

You make some questionable decisions sometimes Rokuro. I’ll trust what you have in mind for now.

It would be a smart idea at this point anyway since I don’t really want to fight against them at all. The chances of Ghost or Lilly getting hurt here is way too high for me to take that risk.

This is a much safer path to take until I know for sure that I can guarantee that they will be safe.

"So what do you say Rokuro?" Alarion asks with a curious tone.

"Sure, we’ll stay for a night or two. It would be nice to get some peace of mind." I respond with a bit of a grateful tone.

He whispers something to the girl before she leaves the room. "Perfect. Ellie is going to prepare your room so no need to worry about anything right now." He says with a bit of excitement.

A strange sensation went throughout my body as I sat there looking back at him. I couldn’t quite place my finger on what it was exactly.

He was definitely a very off putting man to say at the very least.

"Would you do this for anyone usually?" Lilly asks with a bit of concern in her voice.

I watch as his gaze shifts towards Lilly, still keeping the same warm smile he’s had. "Depends on the time, sometimes we can be quite busy. You all happened to show up at just the right time so I’d try to for others as well. If that answers your question." Alarion answers without any hesitation in his voice.

"How kind of you. Is your whole family like this?" Ghost speaks up with a bit of curiosity.

I could hear the sarcasm in the first part there but I don’t think he’s too focused on it. He seems to be playing this persona for us, at least that’s what I’m gathering so far.

"My other siblings aren’t as kind as I am. My mother often tells me it is a curse for me to be like this." Alarion speaks with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Being kind is a curse?" I question with a bit of confusion in my voice.

"One can be too kind. I often believe that everyone deserves my kindness but that’s not always true." Alarion responds while glaring at me.

Steps could be hearing walking towards us, someone else was about to enter the room as well. It was no surprise that we’d be seeing more people here since most of them are part of this family.

Finally coming out of the darkness was a man with long black hair that extends past his shoulders and yellow eyes with a hint of a glow to them. Seems the long hair is something that runs in this family.

He also seems to be wearing similar attire to Alarion but you can definitely tell he’s younger than him.

"Sylas. How nice of you to join us. Our guests here are quite worried about the so called ’war’ that’s brewing." Alarion speaks with more of a carefree tone.

Sylas seems to laugh for a moment before saying anything. "Worrying about something imaginary is always funny, I do apologize for laughing. Who are these guests exactly?" Sylas questions with a bit of curiosity.

"Rokuro, Ghost, and Lilly. A great group of people to meet." Alarion answers while gesturing to each of us.

Sylas gives a respectful bow as he looks towards us. "I am Sylas Variseth. It is a pleasure to meet you all. I can assure you that a war is nowhere near starting." Sylas says confidently after introducing himself.

He seems to be completely different from Alarion which makes a lot of sense. He doesn’t give off such a strange vibe, not one to be concerned about at least.

I’d say that he seems a lot more like a peaceful person compared to Alarion. There’s no guarantee that it’s true since this is the first time we are meeting him.

"It’s nice to meet you as well. I appreciate you both for having us in your home." I reply politely while looking towards them both.

So that’s the power I was sensing from the moment we entered the manor. Sylas is definitely quite strong, I’d say he might potentially be the high ranking hunter we’ve heard about.

I guess the guild wouldn’t exactly disclose who it could be, would they?

Depends if the hunter requests it to be hidden or not.

I’ll have to make sure to keep that in mind when going up in the ranks myself.
