Chapter 81: Where to Begin (2)

Chapter 81: Where to Begin (2)

Quickly I sat up in bed and looked away from Lilly, trying my best to avoid everything that just happened. "I just woke up and happened to be looking that way." I manage to say as I feel my cheeks getting hotter.

I believe I’m blushing as well now... I didn’t think she was awake yet which makes this even more awkward.

"I-I’m mad... Just ask next time or something..." She replies with a bit of an embarrassed tone.

"Sorry. I’ll do that next time." I apologize genuinely.

"Yawnnn. You two seem to be having a good morning." Ghost says after yawning.

I get out of bed and head over to the window to look outside. "It has been a good morning I guess. We have a lot to figure out today." I reply while trying to keep a calm tone.

Avoiding the potential war is still a priority to me, even if Seraphine told me to focus on getting stronger. I can get stronger and worry about stopping a war from happening.

There is no reason for me to avoid either of them so I’ll make it work somehow. She mentioned that the families make more of the decisions up here.

So the crests we saw scattered across the buildings is probably the different families we need to speak with. If I can convince them somehow... We might be able to prevent the war from happening.

It’ll also depend on how stuck up they are and how they view everyone I guess.

She wasn’t just telling us that for no reason. It really is a waste of time when they want the war to happen.

I’d like to believe otherwise since we don’t need to kill other hunters just because of status. All of us should be working together to save those who can’t defend themselves.

That is the kind of mentality that will get you killed for real one day Rokuro. Not everyone can be saved in the grand scheme of things.

I’ll find a way to make everything possible, even if it turns out to be way harder than I expected.

The view outside the window was definitely quite nice, looking at the clouds outside help with calming me down. I think it would be good for the mind to live peacefully in a place that you can gaze out the window like this.

It’s mostly just the mentality that they have that bothers me more than anything up here.

"Are we going to head for the guild hall here?" Ghost asks with a bit of curiosity.

I turn back to face them both. "We’ll be checking out some of the different families that rule up here. They are the ones we need to speak to." I answer confidently.

I’m just unsure of which family to talk to first since they all seem to be pretty important either way. I believe I saw three different crests so at least that’ll make things a bit easier.

I don’t think that the families will be easy to talk with by any means though. I’ll have to avoid fighting as much as possible if I want to conceal my power from them up here.

What does concealing the power matter at this point?

Obviously I don’t want to be hunted by the powerful hunters up here since I can’t fight them all and defend the others. I’m not just thinking of myself here but Ghost and Lilly too.

If S and SS rank hunters reside up here then it’ll be a terrible time for them to fight against anyone. Trying to avoid the fight for now will be the best call.

"I’m ready to go and see then." Ghost says after stretching a bit.

"Let’s go find one of these families!" Lilly shouts with excitement.

Seems that Lilly is finally getting back to her usual self which is a good sign. We’ll definitely have quite a challenge waiting for us.

After leaving the room we entered the streets again while looking around for what family Crest was the most abundant. It didn’t take long for us to realize that each has a district of their own.

The first family that we’d be dealing with was known as Variseth family. People were talking about them in the streets but it didn’t sound pleasant.

I guess people consider them to be the shady ones that want to make all the questionable decisions...

Tug. Tug. "Roku I think that might possibly be the place we’re looking for." Lilly says while tugging my sleeve.

Turning my head I could see a pretty big manor ahead of us with these beautiful red banners hanging down with a black rose in the center of the banner with thorns going all throughout it.

"I’d say that it definitely is the right place." I agree with her while facing the manor.

It was a huge manor with gates blocking anyone from getting in, matching a lot of the same materials used for the streets and buildings. A silver alloy with some gold laced throughout the manor, the windows on the manor also seem to have a great view towards us.

Someone was walking towards us though, a man wearing an elegant white suit with long wavy dark blue hair that goes far past his shoulders, blue eyes, and he seems to be on the younger side.

I’m assuming he is definitely part of the Variseth family so he might be the right person for us to start speaking to. His vibe is definitely quite different from what I expected.

He doesn’t really give off sketchy vibes whatsoever, if anything I’d say he gives more of an elegant aura. So why would this family be considered shady?

A small grin forms on the man’s face as he reaches the gate. "Guests? I’d love to show you inside. You definitely aren’t from Elyndra so it’s the least I could do." He says with a polite tone, each word felt carefully picked.

This is definitely one way to get this going.
