All deities who sought to curry favor were pushed by Tycha towards Tyr. In the end, the Church of Mercy was not suited for direct confrontation, so Tyr's ascendancy was not unexpected.
The victory in the counterattack against the Underdark brought jubilation to the entire North. With the impending war against the orcs, this victory came at a most opportune time. With the Three Gods of Justice and the Goddess of Mercy present, the city-states of the North had greater confidence in facing the orcs.
Lolth proactively visited Tycha, hoping to share in the spoils of the Underdark, but Tycha rebuffed her, using the excuse that the God of Dawn needed to deal with the approaching orcs.
Ultimately, the Underdark was a matter of internal elven strife. Eilistraee had long since bowed to Tycha, implicitly considering herself a subordinate deity. The dark maiden knew well that Lolth, now a deity of immense power, was beyond her match. To fulfill her dream of saving the drow from evil, Eilistraee chose to cling to Tycha's coattails the moment she ascended.
Nor did Tycha disappoint Eilistraee. Rallying the Three Gods of Justice and the aid of Waukeen, she managed to suppress the arrogance of the Spider Queen, further solidifying the dark maiden's resolve to hold onto Tycha's support.
Corellon did not object to his daughter becoming Tycha's subordinate deity. With Tycha's tacit approval, Eilistraee's status as a subordinate deity was thus legitimized.
With the backing of her primary deity, Eilistraee had no patience for those gods who were hesitant when approached but swarmed when benefits appeared. The deities who were turned away had no choice but to seek out Tyr. The God of Justice mediated, gaining both benefits and reputation.
Seeing the God of Justice's reputation soar, Lolth became somewhat anxious. After several discussions with Shar, she decided to act preemptively.
As a goddess born only after Shar and Selûne, Shar was far more pragmatic. This pragmatism had allowed her to maintain her status as a deity of immense power without ever being suppressed by Ao.
Having been a deity of immense power for so many years, Shar had even touched that barrier before Selûne and Cyric.
After exhausting all conceivable methods, Shar turned her attention to Silvanus and Cyric. Whether it was nature or death, combining them with Shar's original divine portfolio of earth offered hope for a breakthrough. The source of death was in Cyric's hands. This deity, born almost simultaneously with Shar, had many allies and was not weaker than her. Taking the portfolio of death seemed an impossible task.
Silvanus, who possessed the portfolio of nature, was different. Although also a deity of immense power, Silvanus did not have a host of allies like Cyric!
Comparing the two, Silvanus became Shar's primary target.
To gain Silvanus's trust, Shar did not hesitate to relinquish some of her divine portfolios. The portfolios of forests and wilderness within the nature pantheon were transferred from the Earth Mother.
Long-term planning was aimed at a decisive blow at the critical moment. After discovering a method to become an elder god, Shar's desire to act against Silvanus became even more uncontrollable.
As a neutral party, Shar would not actively participate in the contest between Ao and the other deities. However, if an elder god were to emerge among the deities of immense power, the situation would change entirely!
Deities of immense power and elder gods were not comparable. Once an elder god appeared, deities like Shar, who remained on the periphery with an unclear stance, would be forced to choose a side. Whichever side she joined, Shar would become cannon fodder. If she had to fight desperately, who would care about the impact of losing the earth portfolio?
If she still wished to maintain her existing dignity and freedom, becoming an elder god before the war was the only way. At the very least, neither side would want to make an enemy of an elder god Shar before absolute necessity! Once the war began, Shar could completely choose to join the side with the advantage. No one would refuse an additional trump card on their side!
Regardless of which side reaped the fruits of victory, Shar could sit back and continue to enjoy her glory.
Shar's calculations were undoubtedly astute. With Mount Celestia under Lolth's control, once the nature portfolio was obtained, she could ascend to elder god status at the fastest pace.
However, the sudden rise of Tyr in the Underdark had disrupted her plans. If she could not maintain Lolth's position, her ascension to elder god status would be out of the question.
Therefore, Shar's plan had to be adjusted. First, she would kill Silvanus, and then, by threatening Tyr, she would reclaim sovereignty over Mount Celestia.
Several major battles occurred almost simultaneously!
In the Underdark, Tycha and Eilistraee proactively sought out the drow pantheon! The Three Gods of Justice were occupied by the invading orc deities, unable to provide much assistance! Shar and Lolth took advantage of this opportunity to attack Silvanus's divine realm!
Before the human deities could react, the commotion in the Beastlands astonished the confronting deities.
Under the pincer attack of Shar and Lolth, Silvanus was forced to parry desperately. The Gods of Fury, seeing an opportunity, joined the fray.
Talos's subordinate deities held back the nature deities led by Mielikki. However, everyone knew that the final outcome would be determined by Silvanus, and his situation was clearly not favorable!
Shar also had involvement in the natural domain. The portfolios of earth and fertility temporarily offset Silvanus's home-field advantage. Lolth and Talos launched the main assault. Facing three opponents, Silvanus quickly fell into a disadvantage!
Gruumsh, the orc chief god, laughed heartily and dispatched all his avatars to intercept Tyr and Corellon. His objective was simple: as long as they were temporarily contained, Silvanus would absolutely not survive the combined assault of three deities of immense power. The fall of Silvanus would inevitably cause turmoil in the pantheon of humanoids, reducing the pressure on the orc deities and increasing their chances of victory.
With this belief, Gruumsh gritted his teeth and endured the blows of two deities of immense power, managing to hold back Corellon.
In the Underdark, Lolth's avatar twisted her face. Her spider-like lower body had disappeared! Eilistraee and her brother Vhaeraun were evenly matched, neither able to defeat the other. The drow warrior guardian Sevendark and the undead vengeance goddess Vhaeraun were pitted against Lin Su and others.
The Samsara, with their endless array of methods, were more than capable of dealing with the lesser deities Sevendark and Vhaeraun. Ghaunadaur, the god of oozes, who was coerced by Lolth, was half-hearted. After losing two avatars, he began to slack off. His remaining avatar became mere atmosphere, engaging in a fake match with Gwendolyn and Lu Kui.
Seeing that the time was almost right, Tycha hurled the Spear of Eternity into Lolth's chest. "It's time to end this. I'm waiting for the feast."
With the fall of her last avatar, Lolth completely lost the power to resist.
The tradition of backstabbing among the drow also affected their deities. Except for Sevendark, Vhaeraun and the undead vengeance goddess Vhaeraun, sensing the unfavorable turn of events, immediately turned and fled.
Sevendark did not last long either, leaving behind all his avatars under the siege of Eilistraee and the Samsara. Lolth's divine essence was obtained by the dark maiden, and in return, she was to purify the other divine essences for the Samsara.
After dealing with Lolth, Tycha withdrew to relieve Corellon.
Tyr's spirit was lifted. He surrounded Gruumsh and beat him soundly. Gruumsh, facing two opponents, was already at his limit. Corellon had a record of single-handedly storming Gruumsh's domain and blinding one of his eyes. To hold back Corellon, Gruumsh had fought with all his might.
Gruumsh's last avatar also dissipated under the edge of the Spear of Eternity, marking the end of the war. Having lost their only deity of immense power, the orc deities, despite their unwillingness, could only acknowledge their defeat and leave in dejection. The orc war god Vhauna dared not provoke the wrath of two deities of immense power. The orcs halted their invasion and retreated to their base camp.
