Seven Sins System Chapter 464. Panic! Panic! Panic!
This was exactly what I had wanted to avoid. My earlier hesitation about using Hell Inferno had been to prevent something like this, yet here I was, watching the very thing I’d avoided unfold before my eyes. The fire wasn’t just a few stray flames—it was quickly becoming a full-blown inferno.
I needed to stop it, and fast!
But the storm was still raging, the lightning still striking with wild abandon. I could feel the power thrumming through me, but it was chaotic, unfocused. I had unleashed something I couldn’t easily rein in.
“Oh shit… Shit, shit, shit,” I muttered in a panic, a cold realization settling in. I had to stop this, or the entire forest—and especially for myself!
‘Water! Yeah, I need water, fast!’ I thought in a panic. But as soon as the thought crossed my mind, panic set in. As a devil, especially one who was more familiar with fire and inferno, I didn’t have any skills that involved water.
Water was the essence of life, of peace—a direct contradiction to everything I embodied. I was the Lord of Wrath, a symbol of rage and destruction, flames and fury. Water wasn’t in my repertoire. I was the inferno, the fire in the mortal heart. Fire was my ally, my weapon, but right now, that alliance was working against me.
I scratched my head in frustration. “Why don’t I have any water element skills?!” I complained to myself, the absurdity of it all almost making me laugh—almost. Here I was, one of the most powerful beings in existence, brought to a standstill by something as simple as a lack of water!
My mind raced, trying to find a solution, anything that could stop the flames from spreading. But nothing I had at my disposal seemed sufficient.
In my frantic search for a solution, my gaze shifted to something in the distance. It was a glimmer of hope. Not far from where I was, through the trees and down a slight slope, was a river—a large, flowing river.
The sight of it made my heart leap. This was it! My way out, my salvation. Without wasting another second, I flicked my wings, launching myself into the air with a powerful beat. The wind roared in my ears as I soared toward the river, my mind singularly focused on getting there as quickly as possible.
Once I approached the river, I extended my hand toward it. “Telekinesis,” I muttered, my voice a strained command.
Immediately, I felt the familiar pull of my power as it connected with the water, grasping it like an invisible hand. The river’s surface rippled and churned as I exerted my will over it, forcing it to rise into the air.
My other hand was directed toward the blazing inferno that was rapidly spreading through the forest. I could see the flames licking at the trees, the dark smoke billowing into the night sky. The fire was hungry, devouring everything in its path, and I had to act fast.
With a grunt of effort, I began to move the water, lifting it in a massive, swirling vortex. The water twisted and coiled in the air. It was heavy and I could feel the strain as I struggled to maintain control. But I couldn’t afford to falter—not now, not when everything depended on it.
“Move!” I snarled, forcing the water to surge toward the fire. The torrent obeyed, arcing through the air like a living serpent, twisting and turning as it raced toward the flames. My breath caught in my throat as I watched the water collide with the fire, steam hissing and rising in thick clouds as the two elements clashed.
The fire roared in defiance, as if it sensed the threat to its dominance. The flames writhed and crackled, trying to resist, but the water was relentless. It poured down over the burning trees, soaking the ground and quenching the flames with a fury that matched my own.
But the fire wasn’t giving up without a fight. It continued to spread, leaping from tree to tree, each one catching alight in an instant. The water wasn’t enough—there was too much fire, too much ground to cover.
I needed more, more water, more force, to overwhelm the blaze completely!
“More!” I growled, forcing myself to dig deeper, to pull more water from the river. The strain was immense, but I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t let this fire win. I pulled at the river again, dragging more water into the air, feeling it tug and resist like a wild animal being forced into submission.
I unleashed the second wave of water with a shout, sending it crashing down onto the flames. The fire hissed and sputtered as the torrent engulfed it, the steam rising in thick, choking clouds. I could barely see through the haze, but I could feel the heat starting to recede.
The fire was finally beginning to lose its grip, the flames shrinking back, their once voracious appetite now dulled by the relentless onslaught of water. The storm above me still raged, but I could sense its energy waning as the fire below was brought under control.
I hovered above the forest, my wings beating steadily as I directed the last of the water toward the remaining patches of flame. Slowly, painfully, the fire began to die out, leaving only charred remnants of what had been a lush and vibrant landscape.
The air was thick with the acrid smell of smoke, and the once bright and lively forest was now a blackened wasteland, the trees reduced to smoldering stumps.
The final embers sputtered out.
I allowed myself to land on the ground, near the river that had been my salvation. My wings folded behind me.
