Gods Vanish on a Cloudy Day
Lā kuǎ tiáo (underperforming item)
I am very sorry to inform you that today's offering is not the update you are familiar with, but rather a chapter of mediocrity.
As everyone knows, humanity has its limits, both physically and mentally. To transcend humanity, one must be mediocre.
I greatly admire my friend Du Gong, and the words once spoken by Qi Miao and Yintian Shenyin: Humans are destined to be mediocre. Faced with this inevitable fate, the only freedom humans have is in choosing the time for their mediocrity.
Very famous words and very true. Therefore, in order to bring you higher quality, longer chapters, I have decided to postpone the update to tomorrow.
I am a writer who is very dependent on my emotions. When my emotions are high, I have been known to write 20,000 words in a day (and more than once), but when I have no emotions, even with a detailed outline, my writing feels dry and lifeless.
Moreover, I especially dislike rushing to write. Things written in a rush are not well thought out and easily affect the details of the subsequent plot, and are also prone to errors in the setting.
The new volume, Twilight, is about the future of the Great Seal, Dusk, the World Tree, and the future path chosen by the protagonist's side. It is also the most important part of the mid-term plot of this book, which requires me to think carefully.
As you can probably see, the pace of this volume is a bit slower, also because I am experimenting with some new writing styles and details, trying to go further based on my past experience.
Therefore, recently, I have often been worried about the lack of time for thinking, and I also have headaches. I have made many settings and detailed outlines, but when I actually write, I always feel that it could be better.
This month, I have already updated 170,000 words. With another 10,000 words, the following updates will all be bonus updates. (10,000 words counts as one bonus update)
I think that in terms of calculating bonus updates, there is probably no one more unrestrained than me on Qidian, and I hope everyone can forgive my occasional mediocrity.
And, believe that I can make up for it!
The following are some reflections.
In order to write the plot well, I often make various preparations, thinking about detailed outlines, plot twists, plot, and settings, but sometimes, I am unable to express what I want to express. This may be due to a lack of writing skills and experience.
How can I become a better writer? Read more, write more, see more, practice more, I know all the principles, but there is always a sense of颓废 (tuifei - despondency).
I am very grateful to all the supporting readers, who always inspire me and allow me to continue searching for the answer to this question.
Thank you, see you tomorrow.
