Chapter 591: A New Journey
Herty stumbled and fell into the rain, the flowing water filling her mouth, nose, and collar.
The sensation was indescribable. There wasn't any sharp pain, but she couldn't muster any strength.
"Don't mind me, take her down!" She shouted hoarsely, not bothering to check her injuries.
But Dusk's reaction was deeply disappointing.
This combat witch from the Bloodfang Society hesitated, stopped, and finally returned to her side. "Are... are you alright?"
Idiot! Only by subduing them could they turn the tables. What use was she even unscathed! She wanted to vent her anger, but even opening her mouth seemed too exhausting.
Behind her, Tianyan cried out in pain, and then the fighting subsided.
Facing the Transcendent Ash, she had managed to hold out for a few breaths, which was already quite an achievement.
The numbness gradually faded, and a burning sensation emerged from her thigh, particularly noticeable under the soaking rain.
Herty struggled to look up and saw Andrea slowly walk towards her.
"Do you still want to resist?"
"No..." Dusk replied, turning around and kneeling down. "I surrender, please don't kill Lord Herty."
"If I wanted to kill her, her head would have blossomed long ago," Andrea wiped the rain from her forehead. "The reason she's still alive is because Princess Tilly has some things she hasn't figured out yet. Once the evidence is solid, she will receive the punishment she deserves."
"Evi... evidence?" Dusk said blankly. "Annie betrayed the Bloodfang Society witches, that's why the Lord took action against her!"
"Oh? Is that what she told you? As far as I know, Annie never even entered the Bloodfang Society," Andrea shrugged. "Anyway, once all the facts are revealed, you'll know what kind of person Herty Morgan is." Then she turned to Umbra and called out, "Go get Pandora, or she's going to die if we don't stop the bleeding."
Only then did Herty finally feel the pain – her entire leg was completely immobile, as if there was a heavy, foreign object attached to her body. Waves of stabbing pain replaced the burning sensation, restoring her spirit slightly.
It's over.
She knew exactly what was going to happen next.
Tilly dared to do this, she must have learned something about her background from some source. As long as there was a trace, it wouldn't be difficult for the witches to backtrack the truth. Even if the witches of Sleeping Island couldn't do it, there were still those guys in the Western Region.
The problem probably lies with Ifi and Umbra.
She underestimated that blonde Tilly.
Taking advantage of the moment Andrea turned her head, Herty gritted her teeth and used her last strength to release her magic—
Within a ten-step radius, her ability could cause hollow objects to collapse from the inside, whether living things or containers.
She called it the "Crushing Force."
Failure was inevitable, but Herty wasn't willing to let Tilly win so easily, she at least wanted to give that fellow a deep and unforgettable lesson!
"No, my Lord!" Dusk exclaimed, noticing her movement.
Too late! She sneered inwardly.
However, the ability didn't work.
The moment she attacked, an invisible barrier dispersed her Crushing Force.
"You... you're wearing a God's Stone of Retaliation!" Herty's eyes widened, and she said indistinctly. Wait, the thing that injured her wasn't the other party's new ability?
"Unrepentant, it seems you're still full of energy," Andrea showed a disgusted expression, raised her iron rod, and smashed it down with force.
Herty only felt a buzzing sound in her head, and then she sank into darkness.
...
"So that's taken care of," Andrea looked at Herty. Morgan and Tianyan being carried away and asked, "How's your side?"
"It's okay, but Tianyan might not survive until we reach the Western Region."
"Why did you hit so hard?" She revealed a disgusted expression. "Didn't Lord Tilly say to try to keep them alive as much as possible?"
"I didn't expect her to use a desperate fighting style, and her skills were not bad," Ash licked the rain from the corner of her mouth. "It's not that I couldn't capture her alive, but I was worried that you would make a mistake at a critical moment, so I could only make a quick decision."
"You—" Andrea was speechless for a moment.
"That's how it is, if you had shown your glass marbles or something earlier, maybe they wouldn't have chosen to fight to the death," the Transcendent Witch sighed. "You had to hold on to your musket, how would they know what it was."
"Don't argue, Lord Tilly is still waiting for your report," Umbra reminded helplessly. "And even if you want to argue, don't stand in the rain, what if you really catch a cold."
The two looked at each other for a moment, gave each other a roll of their eyes before ending the dispute, and returned to the palace side by side.
...
After reporting the incident to Tilly, Andrea noticed that her expression wasn't too good, not as relaxed or comfortable as if she had solved a major problem, but rather feeling a little sad.
"What's wrong?" Ash took her hand. "Are you feeling unwell?"
Tilly shook her head. "When I first saw Roland's secret letter, I was actually unwilling to believe the contents," her tone sounded quite sad. "The witches finally have their own home, why do they still want to repeat the tragedies of the past, wouldn't it be better to live here in peace?"
"You've already done a great job," Ash comforted. "Not all combat witches will unconditionally agree with Herty's approach, especially after their lives have improved, some combat witches have already sided with us, even members of the Bloodfang Society are no exception."
"She's right," although she didn't like Ash, at this time, Andrea didn't want to see Tilly sad. "Dusk not following Herty's orders to resist desperately is also proof, as long as time passes, everyone will gather closely together, just like the Witch Union."
"I hope so," Tilly took a deep breath. "Since Herty really did this, I can't let her continue like this. But according to Ifi, most of the Bloodfang Society witches are unaware of this, I will ask Camilla to gather them all later, as long as they are willing to stay here and wait for the results, don't treat them as enemies."
The two nodded, Sleeping Island had finally become lively, and no one wanted these people to really separate.
"Once the storm passes, we will take Herty to the Western Region," she continued.
"To fight the Church?" Ash's voice became excited.
"That's right," Tilly closed her eyes and said in a deep voice, "Fight the Judgment Army, the God's Punishment Army, the Purity, and even fight God's Will. Just like Roland said in his letter, if we can completely defeat the Church, the witches will truly usher in liberation. Even if he wasn't my brother, I should help him... because that is also helping myself." She paused. "Are you willing to go with me?"
"Of course," Ash replied without hesitation. "I will always be by your side."
Andrea also nodded in agreement, but for some reason, the taste of ice cream bread appeared in her mind.
