Chapter 111 Selfish Like Me

Chapter 1 The Murky Vision

My eyes gradually blurred, and the few strokes on the paper that depicted Mitian Ying slowly became three-dimensional, until finally, he actually walked right out.

Mitian Ying's eyes were indeed looking at me, but not at my eyes; rather, it was as if he was looking through my body at something else.

Mitian Ying's gaze was very complex, filled with resentment, confusion, unwillingness, as well as adoration and admiration. He stared blankly at me, his body slowly changing until he became the ghost infant in the Xiaojicun graveyard, fierce and violent, yet fragile and helpless.

His eyes were so cold, so desperate, yet so eager for warmth.

If I could control my own body right now, I would definitely try to use gentle words to calm him down as much as possible. However, my body was completely beyond my control.

My whole body was numb, as if frozen stiff. The feeling was very similar to how I felt standing in front of the large block of ice for a long time, only much more severe.

Standing in front of the ice for a long time made my body stiff, but I was still me, my body still belonged to me. But now, I was completely controlled by someone else.

Recalling the figure that was slowly fading away in the ice, I finally understood that the thing in the ice hadn't disappeared. Instead, it had been transferred to my body, only it had been hiding all along.

Now, he was finally showing himself.

My eyes gradually became fierce and authoritative, and the muscles on my face arranged themselves into an expression of imposing dignity. Then, I suddenly raised my leg and kicked the little ghost infant, who was prostrating in front of me, away with one foot.

"As a Heavenly God, you only care about your own gains and losses, completely disregarding the common people. You are not worthy to be my son. Don't call me Father again."

The ghost infant struggled to get up from the ground, blood on his lips, coughing incessantly. My angry kick just now had sent him flying several zhang away.

As everything before my eyes became illusory, I was no longer in the hotel room, but back in that desolate graveyard.

I didn't know if this graveyard was the one I saw in the Mitian Realm, or the one I saw in Xiaojicun, or if it was a completely different place.

Most of my senses were numb; all I could feel was the biting cold.

I was being possessed by the Great Heavenly God Wu Tianzi! This Heavenly God didn't have any warmth at all. I guessed that after he left, I would be seriously ill.

Come to think of it, I was being quite selfish, only thinking about myself. Now, the Great Heavenly God Wu Tianzi was teaching his son to take the common people as his responsibility, while I was worrying about him borrowing my body and ruining it. How petty was that?

"Then, were the common people saved?" the ghost infant asked, coughing.

"Of course they were saved," I said in an icy tone.

Then, the scene before my eyes changed again. It was no longer a desolate and dilapidated graveyard, but a magnificent and resplendent Heavenly Court. The spectacular scene dazzled me; it was simply beyond my ability to describe as a mortal.

The deities in the Heavenly Court were also somewhat beyond my expectations. They weren't cultivating, working, or engaging in romance, but instead spent most of their time queuing up to admire a dazzling, radiant pearl.

The pearl radiated precious light and was incomparably beautiful. It was indeed something that made people reluctant to look away. But they were all Heavenly Gods! Were Heavenly Gods so easily captivated by external objects? Did Heavenly Gods also indulge in frivolous pursuits?

Mortals regarded deities as their faith, offering their devotion and worship. Heavenly Gods naturally had their own faith as well. Mortals wanted longevity, while Heavenly Gods only wanted to gaze upon that pearl a little longer.

But that pearl couldn't last forever in the world. The higher-ups among the Heavenly Gods, in order to keep the pearl for as long as possible, exhausted all their resources and offered frantic sacrifices. They not only neglected the people of the mortal realm, but even the great Heavenly Court became chaotic.

At that time, Wu Tianzi wasn't yet Wu Tianzi; he was just an ordinary Heavenly God. Although he was talented, he was aloof and didn't fit in with the crowd. His voice was weak and didn't carry weight. He submitted memorials and made requests many times, but the higher-ups wouldn't even glance at his suggestions. They continued to lead all the Heavenly Gods in blindly worshiping that pearl.

Many signs had already emerged. If the Heavenly Gods didn't do something, the Heavenly Dao would collapse and the Three Realms would be plunged into war. Not only would the Heavenly Realm cease to exist, but the entire Yin-Yang Three Realms would have to be reshuffled.

As a Heavenly God who saw through everything, Wu Tianzi didn't want to see the entire world fall into eternal doom. In order to change the world, to gain a voice in the Heavenly Court, and to save the Three Realms, he joined the ranks of those vying for power. He abandoned his aloofness and mingled with the corrupt, even exchanging his newborn son for Zhulong in order to please the higher-ups, just so he could have a seat at the core meetings of the Heavenly Gods.

Later, Wu Tianzi did indeed succeed. He became the head of the Heavenly Court's Council of Elders, reorganized the Heavenly Court, consolidated order, and maintained stability.

Various scenes flashed quickly before my eyes. Wu Tianzi used a few minutes to show us everything that had happened back then.

I knew that Heavenly Gods couldn't really be driven crazy by a pearl, but the thing that even Heavenly Gods could be lost in was definitely not something a mere mortal like me could understand. So Wu Tianzi directly presented it as a pearl, to make it easier for me to understand how absurd the higher-ups' obsession was.

"Everything you said is just your own version! You said you used me to hunt Zhulong out of necessity, you said the Heavenly Realm was in chaos back then, you said you saved everything. Who can prove it?

I only see that you became a higher-up. I only see that after sacrificing me, you slowly gained supreme power in the Heavenly Realm. Anyway, you succeeded in the end, and you have the right to interpret everything. You say what's black is black, you say what's white is white. Who dares to reason with you?"

The ghost infant completely disagreed with everything Wu Tianzi had shown and was still roaring.

"That can't be the reason for you to provoke the war between humans and the Mitian clan either," Wu Tianzi said, still looking stern.

"Hahahaha, hahahaha, I want to provoke a war between humans and the Mitian clan? Why would I want to provoke a war between humans and the Mitian clan? I've said it before, I don't hate the Mitian clan, I don't hate Zhulong either. I can even cooperate with Zhulong, merge with Zhulong! I want to overthrow your rule! I want to trample you, this hypocritical Heavenly God, under my feet!"

The ghost infant suddenly shuddered, soared into the air, and transformed into a golden dragon burning with flames.

"Wu Tianzi, today is the day our grievances are settled! Come at me!"

Zhulong was engulfed in fire, full of fighting spirit. Wu Tianzi also became enraged again and was about to perform a spell.

Damn it, Great God! You really are a person who doesn't care about the small details when accomplishing great things! You're still on me right now! You can defeat this demonic dragon, but can my flesh and blood body accompany you to war?
