The clown in the screen was obviously fake, as it was a teenager, and despite the clown makeup, one could tell he was only fifteen or sixteen.
Then...
The fake clown took out a notebook and displayed it towards the camera.
"I'm planning a game in this city. How can I get everyone involved tonight?"
"Hahahahahaha..."
"The choice is yours. Starting tonight, this City of Sin is mine to command. If you don't want to participate in the game, then leave immediately. The City of Sin does not welcome you."
"Hahahahahaha..."
"Oh, and here's a piece of advice: if you try to leave through a tunnel or a bridge, you'll receive a gift from me. My little darlings, guess what the gift is?"
...
The notebook contained some writings, and the clown provided a voiceover. Although the clown seen wasn't real, no one would forget the frantic voice; it was undeniably the clown's voice. After all, this wasn't the first time the clown had infiltrated the television station and appeared before the public.
The coffee shop fell silent. Then, a woman in a suit suddenly let out a gasp, quickly got up from her seat, and dialed a number. "Justin, book me a plane ticket. I need the earliest flight. I have to leave here immediately."
A sense of panic spread through the coffee shop. No, it was spreading throughout the entire City of Sin.
Everyone felt a surge of terror and began frantically trying to escape the city.
Bai Ye grinned. It seemed the clown had succeeded again?
Thinking to himself, Bai Ye got up, left two bills on the table as a tip, and entered 2250 Alex Avenue.
It was a dilapidated apartment building with an old-fashioned elevator.
Bai Ye stepped inside and drew his twin pulse pistols.
The elevator creaked and groaned, then took Bai Ye down to the basement.
It was dim and damp.
Holding his gun, Bai Ye moved slowly along the wall, inching forward. Soon, Bai Ye found what the clown had mentioned: two large hiking backpacks.
Bai Ye stepped forward and opened a backpack. Inside, as expected, were bombs.
Bai Ye slung the backpack over his shoulders and started to walk back, a puzzled expression on his face.
No one stopped him?
The mission description read: "The Order Faction also has supporters of Batman. The person with the highest Order Value in the Order Faction will do everything in their power to stop you!"
Therefore, this was another two-way mission.
If someone in the Order Faction had maxed out their Order Value, they would surely receive this mission, the difference being that their mission would be to stop the clown.
Of course, even if no one in the Order Faction had maxed out their Order Value to one thousand, Bai Ye wouldn't be able to complete the mission so easily. There were no such good things on the World Battlefield. Thus, the mission description stated that "the person with the highest Order Value in the Order Faction" would try their best to stop you.
So, if there were no chosen ones with maxed Order Value in the Order Faction, the chosen one with the highest current Order Value would receive this mission.
Bai Ye continued to think as he re-entered the elevator and left the apartment building.
"No one really bothered me?" Bai Ye scratched his head. "What's going on?"
Stopping the clown, or rather, stopping me...
The best way would be to destroy the bombs. Without the bombs, Bai Ye naturally wouldn't be able to plant them on the ferry. Therefore, Bai Ye thought the possibility of an ambush in the apartment building was high.
But...
Everything was calm, nothing happened.
This made Bai Ye a little strange. What was their strategy? In Bai Ye's opinion, this was the best opportunity to stop him.
However, the lack of incident was clearly more beneficial to Bai Ye, so Bai Ye would treat it as if nothing had happened.
He tossed the backpack into the car and quickly drove away.
By the time Bai Ye reached the pier, several detectives were already there, but the crowds had not yet gathered.
The clown's words were vague. Some had already thought of the ferry, while others hadn't. Moreover, with people panicking and wanting to flee the city, traffic jams were likely, so the pier wouldn't be crowded this quickly.
But Commissioner Gordon was clearly a smart man and immediately thought of the two ferries that could carry thirty thousand people out of the City of Sin.
To prevent riots, he immediately dispatched officers to the pier.
Bai Ye parked his car on the outskirts of the pier and observed the inside.
The security wasn't particularly tight, mainly because the pier was quite large and there weren't enough officers. In fact, Commissioner Gordon was requesting the intervention of armed forces from the mayor.
But that was for later. For Bai Ye now, the security was like an unsatisfied young lady; he could just walk in if he wanted to.
Choosing a deserted corner, Bai Ye quickly climbed over the barbed wire fence and then crouched low, moving rapidly towards the two ferries.
There were indeed several detectives guarding near the ferries, but this didn't pose a problem for Bai Ye.
Bai Ye released Gengar from its beast ball, patted its head, and smiled, pointing at one of the ferries. "This one's for you. Plant the bomb at the bottom of the ship. As for the remote control and the key for detonation, deliver them to the captain's cabin."
Gengar let out a cry, took the backpack, and floated towards one of the ferries.
Bai Ye, meanwhile, crouched and, while the detectives weren't paying attention, pushed a large iron barrel into the water. He then leaped into the barrel, took out a roll of rope, tied it to the Frosty Sword, and sent the Frosty Sword flying to the side of the ferry, embedding it in the anchor chain. He then pulled the rope, and the iron barrel moved closer to the ferry on the water's surface.
When a detective looked over, Bai Ye would shrink his body inside the barrel. Once the detective looked away, Bai Ye would emerge again and pull the rope to move forward.
Soon, Bai Ye reached the side of the ferry and climbed onto the deck by grabbing the anchor chain.
Standing on the deck, he looked around. There were no crew members; they probably hadn't boarded yet.
This was too easy!
Bai Ye hoisted the hiking backpack and headed towards the ship's cabin.
He had initially thought that if the Order Faction didn't ambush him at the apartment, they would most likely ambush him at the pier. But he had boarded the ferry so smoothly.
"What in the world is going on?"
Bai Ye was also confused. Had the chosen one from the Order Faction abandoned the mission?
However, despite his confusion, no one bothering him was certainly a good thing.
Bai Ye thought to himself as he entered the cabin. First, he placed the remote detonator for the bomb in the cabin's safe room, and then, carrying the hiking backpack, he went to the hold to install it.
He encountered no resistance and didn't see a single enemy. If he succeeded like this, Bai Ye felt this would be the easiest mission he had ever undertaken.
