There were several paths leading up to the mountainside on Mount Bagong. The tomb of the King of Huainan was built within the mountain's core, with two hidden entrances, east and west, making it quite difficult to find.
However, would difficulty in finding it stop Bai Ye?
The Umbrella Corporation's underground base was also hard to find, yet Bai Ye had managed to infiltrate it. This was because Bai Ye knew where the entrance was.
Halfway up the mountain, a winding mountain path snaked southwards. Following this path upwards, one could see countless vines hanging down from the sheer cliff face on one side.
Bai Ye ascended along the mountain path, reaching the mountainside, where he paused to observe, parting the surrounding vines.
A quarter of an hour later, a cave finally appeared before Bai Ye.
"Found it!"
Bai Ye entered the cave. The surroundings were damp, dark, and carried a musty smell, with the occasional sound of dripping water.
It appeared to be an ordinary mountain cave.
But as Bai Ye pressed on, a faint glow gradually emerged from within the cave. The pervasive smell of decay began to dissipate, and although the surroundings remained damp, the sound of dripping water ceased.
Even the uneven cave walls became smooth, eventually leading to...
A path paved with bluestone appeared before Bai Ye.
The mountain cave suddenly bore traces of human construction. The surrounding walls were flattened, and every five meters, a stone dragon-head long-burning lamp emitted a faint glow. Simultaneously, every five paces, stone pillars carved with dragons and phoenixes appeared on either side of the cave.
Continuing forward for about three hundred paces, a massive stone gate loomed before Bai Ye.
This was the entrance to the tomb of the King of Huainan!
Bai Ye grinned and halted before the stone gate. The next second...
"Due to a participant discovering and entering the tomb of the King of Huainan, all currently located participants in the Mount Bagong area will be transported to different locations within the tomb in three minutes."
"Restricted Zone Mission 1: Eliminate 15 Tomb Guardian Spirits within the tomb. Reward: 99 Dao Charms."
"Restricted Zone Mission 2: Extinguish the Nine Dragon Yin-Yang Candles in the tomb chambers. Reward: 1 Golden Thread Robe."
"Restricted Zone Mission 3: Obtain the Five Spirit Plate and escape the tomb of the King of Huainan. Reward: 1 Five Spirit Plate, 1 Tai Xia Golden Pill, 5 Fragments of the God Stone."
"Gentlemen, in order to obtain the fragments of the God Stone, please fight fiercely."
...
The restricted zone had opened, and all chosen ones within the Mount Bagong area would be sent into the tomb of the King of Huainan.
Bai Ye, however, did not need such a complicated process, as he was already standing at the tomb's entrance.
The heavy stone gate rumbled, shedding countless stone fragments, and then the massive stone gate slowly opened.
As the colossal stone gate swung open, it perfectly exemplified the meaning of "a world apart."
Behind the mountain cave, the ground was paved with square bluestones, and trees were planted around. Sunlight streamed down from above, and looking up, Bai Ye realized the area was open, allowing sunlight to penetrate.
Directly ahead was the tomb gate, built against the mountainside, with red eaves and white stone pillars, leading to a vermilion main door below.
However, upon closer inspection, the red eaves were carved from rubies, and the white stone pillars were made of massive white jade.
Even the vermilion main door, which appeared ordinary, revealed itself upon closer approach to be inlaid with numerous jade beads, each exceptionally lustrous. Even those unfamiliar with such matters would recognize their extraordinary value.
After surveying his surroundings, Bai Ye moved to the side of the mountain wall and began to climb with his bare hands, soon reaching a protruding mountain plateau.
Bai Ye took out his gun case, retrieved the Reaper's Strike, and assembled the gun rest and scope.
Now, all that remained was to wait!
The tomb of the King of Huainan, as a restricted zone, had only two entrances capable of triggering restricted zone missions. However, this did not mean the tomb had only two gates. In fact, there were more than thirty gates leading into the tomb, and the chosen ones would be randomly dispatched before these gates.
The ultimate objective, of course, was the tomb chamber of the King of Huainan himself.
Therefore, Bai Ye's intention was simple. He could do nothing about those sent to other gates, but this particular gate before him, he claimed.
He intended to ensure that on this route, he would be the only one, without any competitors...
He would, here...
Kill...
Everyone!
Bai Ye lay prone on the ground, counting down in his mind. When the three minutes elapsed, people began to appear before the tomb gate.
Their expressions varied. Some wore a look of bewilderment, tinged with fear and trepidation, as they were unfamiliar with the sudden appearance of the restricted zone and were clueless as to its purpose.
Others wore vigilant expressions, quickly scanning their surroundings, some even contemplating attacking others immediately. They might not have experienced restricted zones, but they came from worlds that were either battle-hardened or constantly embroiled in conflict, which made them highly adaptable to such situations.
Bai Ye took in everything, then pressed himself closer to his sniper rifle.
"A total of twelve..." Bai Ye murmured softly, his finger lightly caressing the trigger. "The first one!"
*Bang!*
Bai Ye suddenly pulled the trigger, and the gunshot rang out.
A middle-aged man was still looking around, assessing his surroundings. The moment the gun fired, the man's eyes widened, and a gush of blood splattered onto the ground from his temple.
The next instant, screams erupted.
The sudden death momentarily froze the atmosphere before descending into chaos. Some panicked, while others immediately retreated, searching for Bai Ye's position.
Then...
"The second one!"
*Bang!*
Bai Ye murmured softly, followed by the second shot.
A woman slowly fell to the ground, looking at her chest in disbelief as a patch of crimson blood spread across it.
"Save, save, save me..."
The woman desperately tried to cry out, but found that with every word, blood coughed from her mouth. Her consciousness began to fade, and her vision blurred until everything turned black.
With a thud, the woman collapsed to the ground, a pool of blood quickly forming beneath her.
Bai Ye did not hesitate. The moment the woman knelt, he aimed his rifle at the next target.
A young man wearing a baseball cap and a black t-shirt.
*Bang!*
The gunshot rang out again, but at that very instant...
As if sensing something, the young man abruptly turned his body, looking in Bai Ye's direction, and then stomped his foot forcefully.
...
