Chapter 21 Ambush

"Hey!" Bai Ye said, "Where are those guys robbing you?"

"Highway 403?" Vic gasped.

"After they finish robbing, where is their destination for escorting supplies?" Bai Ye asked.

"They have a base camp on both Highway 403 and 404, but their escort point should be the base camp at the end of Highway 404."

"Why?" Bai Ye asked curiously.

"The base camp on Highway 403 is near the city ruins, while the base camp on Highway 404 is at the end of Highway 404. Considering the distance from where they robbed us, the base camp at the end of Highway 404 is closer." Vic explained.

"I see. That way, they can intercept from both ends, and then successfully send the goods to the closer base camp. So, how long ago did they rob you?" Bai Ye asked.

"Four or five hours ago. Why are you asking?"

"Although I can't save you, I can help you fulfill your wish to kill those guys." Bai Ye said.

Vic was stunned for a moment, then exclaimed in surprise, "You're going to mess with the Road Knights? Are you crazy? You'll die!"

"That's my business," Bai Ye said with a smile, raising his gun and pointing it at Vic. "Do you need my help?"

Vic looked at Bai Ye with blazing eyes, then said, "Please tell them I'll wait for them in hell."

"Alright!" Bai Ye pulled the trigger. "Goodbye!"

With the gunshot, Vic's body fell backward, his head tilting to the side.

Bai Ye took out an oil drum, siphoned gasoline from the jeep, and poured it into his motorcycle. The last bit of gasoline, Bai Ye poured onto Vic's corpse, then lit a lighter and tossed it away.

The jeep quickly caught fire.

Amidst the flames, Bai Ye mounted his motorcycle and rode back towards the highway.

Four or five hours ago...

Bai Ye wasn't entirely sure if he could catch up to the Road Knights, but since a mission had suddenly appeared, he was sure he could complete it. After all, impossible missions didn't exist, so it all depended on whether Bai Ye could seize the opportunity.

Bai Ye didn't overthink it; missions were about doing your best and leaving the rest to fate. Sometimes, luck played a significant role.

And this time...

Bai Ye's luck seemed to be pretty good!

Before passing through the Red Rock Mountain area and returning to the highway, Bai Ye saw a convoy driving on the road from a distance.

The convoy wasn't large; in fact, calling it a convoy was an exaggeration, as there were only three vehicles. However, these vehicles had undergone quite terrifying modifications.

The leading vehicle was a pickup truck with its doors removed. At the rear, two massive metal scythes were mounted, and a Gatling gun was attached to the roof. The front bumper was reinforced with two layers, making it appear very sturdy.

The second vehicle was made by stacking and welding the shells of two cars together, with a giant tire as tall as a person underneath. The front shell was hollowed out, with the engine exposed. Four blades, each at least as thick as an adult's arm, were welded to the front. If one were to be hit by this thing, there would be no outcome other than the destruction of the vehicle and the death of its occupants.

But the most terrifying was the third vehicle. Those guys had somehow found tank tracks, and used scrapped cars for the chassis. Eight tires on each side, coupled with the tracks, made it a formidable sight. The armament on the roof was even more potent, with machine guns mounted at all four corners.

Simultaneously, the front and rear of the vehicle had gear-like saw blades extending outwards. The front bumper was also thickened and even fitted with giant cone spikes, each as thick as an adult's thigh.

Only the Road Knights, led by the Undead, would possess such modified vehicles.

The journey of four or five hours had allowed him to catch up. He figured they must have been delayed by something or had stopped for a rest on the road.

However, the reason didn't matter to Bai Ye. What was important was that he had found them.

Bai Ye curled his lips into a smile and then accelerated rapidly, moving swiftly through the desert. He soon outran the three vehicles.

After about half an hour, Bai Ye had left the three vehicles far behind. He stopped his motorcycle, first placing the Frost Sword in the middle of the road, then riding his motorcycle away to a few large rocks in the desert.

Bai Ye knelt on the ground, took out the bipod and high-powered scope from his gun case, and attached them to his Aug assault rifle. He then lay down on the ground and set up his gun.

The opponent's vehicles had undergone extremely violent modifications, with weapons all over them. Bai Ye only had an old motorcycle, so a direct confrontation would be suicide. To take them down, he had to set up an ambush and force their vehicles to stop.

Using the high-powered scope, he glanced at the road. The three vehicles were slower than he expected; they hadn't appeared yet.

"Since I'm waiting anyway..." Bai Ye suddenly remembered he had one gacha pull left for the day. Since he had time to wait, he decided to use it. He brought out the gacha machine and said, "Might as well do a pull."

The gacha machine appeared beside Bai Ye. With the sound of the machine turning, a large capsule rolled out.

Bai Ye was slightly taken aback, noticing the capsule was black.

The rarity of the capsules was determined by color, ranging from white, green, blue, black, red, and finally gold.

White, green, and blue were considered low-tier capsules, while black and above were considered high-tier.

This was because the items produced from the capsules made a qualitative leap starting from the black ones.

"As expected, is this my turn for luck? After so many misfortunes, things are bound to get better."

Bai Ye thought this as he twisted open the black capsule.

Yin Yang Reversal: A profound technique within the supreme martial art of Tai Chi, utilizing the body's Yin and Yang energies to create a vortex around the body. This vortex can draw in surrounding flying objects for a maximum of nine seconds, after which the absorbed objects can be repelled by the vortex.

Wow, it's a martial arts technique!

From the description, it seemed to be about absorbing attacks and then reflecting them, but the specific effects would only be known when used.

However, considering it was a black capsule, based on Bai Ye's past experience, starting from black capsules, the only difference was whether it was a rip-off or not. For example, the damn "One More Time" slips had made Bai Ye cry tears of bitterness.

But in terms of strength, there was almost no doubt; everything from black capsules was good stuff.

Just then...

The sound of engines echoed from afar.

Bai Ye quickly used his high-powered scope to observe the road.

The three Road Knight vehicles...

Had arrived!
