Chapter 19 The Kill

The feeling of suffocation quickly arrived, but Bai Ye did not panic. Instead, he drew the combat knife from his calf and stabbed towards the opponent's neck.

With a "pfft!"

Like the sound of rotten cloth being torn apart.

Blood instantly spurted from the opponent's neck, splashing to the side. The hands that were gripping Bai Ye's throat involuntarily loosened.

Bai Ye immediately raised his rifle and smashed the butt of the gun into the opponent's head, knocking them away. He then got up from the ground, stepped on the person's chest, aimed the muzzle at the woman's head, and fired several shots, blowing her head apart.

The remaining two appeared very angry and charged towards Bai Ye from left and right.

But before the two could get close, Bai Ye raised his gun.

"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang..."

As Bai Ye pulled the trigger, bullets poured out, forcing them back.

"Come on!" Bai Ye shouted, "If you want to kill me, come!"

The two used the tables around them as cover, darting away quickly, then leaping and hiding behind the metal counter.

Bai Ye sneered, took out a grenade, and loaded it into the grenade launcher.

"Boom!"

The next moment, the grenade arced through the air, hitting the front of the metal counter with a deafening explosion.

Flames roared to life, turning into a massive fireball, incredibly hot.

Layers of heatwaves pushed outwards, and as they passed, a scorched smell could be detected.

Bai Ye unloaded the magazine, reloaded, and strode forward.

But at this moment, two figures suddenly burst from the side of the counter, smashing open a metal door and quickly entering the restaurant kitchen.

Bai Ye pursued relentlessly. When he reached the door, he kicked it open with all his might.

A strong smell of blood immediately hit him, and Bai Ye froze.

In the restaurant kitchen, two chairs were placed. Two zombie bodies, a man and a woman, were bound to the chairs with wire. The ground was covered in bone fragments and minced meat. Dried blood had stained the floor a deep red.

The two zombies, upon seeing Bai Ye enter, their previously vacant eyes instantly filled with ferocity. They struggled relentlessly, as if trying to break free from the wire to pounce on Bai Ye, whimpering from their throats.

Bai Ye frowned, looking at the faces of the two zombies. They were both elderly, at least seventy or eighty years old, and suddenly he understood.

This was a family!

The parents had become zombies, but for some reason, their child, though infected, had survived due to mutation. Then this child had bound their zombie parents here, even going so far as to capture living people to feed them.

This explained the voice on the radio.

It was a trap, where someone used a radio to send out broadcasts, luring people here to become food for their parents.

It seemed quite touching.

But…

What did it have to do with him!

Bai Ye suddenly raised his gun, aiming at the head of one of the zombies and said, "Do you love your parents very much? Then come out, or I'll blow their heads off."

After speaking, Bai Ye scanned the area again.

"You don't have much time to think, I'll only count to three..." The next moment, Bai Ye grinned and said, "Three!"

"Bang!"

A gunshot rang out, and a bullet flew from the muzzle, piercing the temple of a zombie.

Almost instantly, the zombie stopped whimpering, its head tilted to the side, its life extinguished.

"My apologies!" Bai Ye spread his hands, "I forgot to count one and two."

As he spoke, Bai Ye aimed his gun at the head of the other zombie.

"Don't worry!" Bai Ye said, "This time, I won't forget to count."

The two men finally lost their patience. One leaped out from behind the stove and lunged towards Bai Ye. The other opened a large oven, and another man rushed out, running on all fours like a wild beast, opening his mouth to bite at Bai Ye's ankle.

Then…

"Pfft!"

The Frost Sword shot out like a silver light, hitting the lunging man, striking his forehead, piercing through his head and cleanly severing half of it.

Bai Ye immediately turned and swept his leg, kicking the other man in the head, sending him flying. Before the man could get up, Bai Ye had already aimed his gun at him.

"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang..."

As Bai Ye pulled the trigger and fired, the man's body convulsed. Bullets struck nearby metal objects, splashing sparks and making "ding-dong" sounds.

A moment later, when Bai Ye finished firing, the man lay dead in a pool of blood, his life completely extinguished.

Bai Ye reloaded his bullets, stepped over the bone fragments, returned to the last zombie, and then…

Raised his gun, and fired!

"Bang!"

A bloody hole exploded in the zombie's forehead, and it fell backward with the chair.

Having done all this, Bai Ye turned and left the kitchen, intending to return to the supermarket to search for more food.

Although he probably wouldn't find any gasoline, finding food and water seemed pretty good.

But as Bai Ye returned to the restaurant…

"Help, help me... Whoever you are... Please save me..."

Bai Ye stopped and looked at the nearby radio. A plea for help was coming from it.

But, so what?

Probably another unlucky soul fooled by the broadcast. He just didn't know if they were a Chosen One like himself or a native of the World Battlefield.

Bai Ye had no interest in it. He just paused for a moment and intended to move on.

"I'm on Highway 404, not far from Red Rock Mountain. There's a military green jeep next to me. Please, help me. I'm seriously injured and can't drive to the gathering point..."

Bai Ye immediately stopped again!

A jeep? It could be driven?

Alright, the jeep's existence wasn't important, nor was whether it could be driven, and even less so if the other party had gasoline.

What was important was that he was kind-hearted, virtuous, helpful, and couldn't stand seeing others in trouble. He absolutely wouldn't be able to refuse to help someone in distress.

Bai Ye walked over to the radio, picked up the walkie-talkie, and said, "Hello, can you hear me?"

The voice instantly became excited, shouting, "Yes, yes, I can hear you. Sir, please save me. I'll be eternally grateful."

Bai Ye said, "I will save you, but I don't have enough gasoline to make a round trip. Therefore, you will have to wait for a while. I need to collect gasoline before I can come back to rescue you."
