The Twilight Dragon, the smallest carnivorous dinosaur, stands only 40 to 50 centimeters tall.
However, do not underestimate these little fellows. They are extremely ferocious, possessing sickle-like claws and dagger-shaped teeth. Their hind limbs are exceptionally strong, allowing them to jump high. Due to the large number of Twilight Dragon fossils found, scientists hypothesize that they may have lived in packs.
Therefore, when these little creatures hunt in groups, their danger level is absolutely not to be underestimated.
Dr. Hard, at close range, fired two shots, both hitting their mark, killing one Twilight Dragon with each shot, much like shooting rabbits. However, the third Twilight Dragon suddenly leaped up, its claws slashing across Dr. Hard's arm, leaving two horrifying claw marks.
Dr. Hard retreated, screaming, as more Twilight Dragons gathered around, ready to pounce and tear into him.
Four or five Twilight Dragons leaped from the ground simultaneously, reaching Dr. Hard.
At that moment, Dr. Hard felt as though he was about to die.
But at this very instant…
Bai Ye suddenly leaped out from behind, activating the switch on the lightsaber in his hand.
Hum, hum, hum…
As the switch was flipped, a piercing hum sounded, followed by a beam of light rising from the hilt and sweeping forward.
Almost instantaneously, the Twilight Dragons that had leaped from the ground were all beheaded by Bai Ye, their bodies cut in half and falling to the ground.
Bai Ye glanced at the lightsaber in his hand, a look of surprise on his face.
This thing is awesome!
Although Twilight Dragons, due to their size, could only be considered weak dinosaurs, killing four or five with one swing, and at the moment of impact, Bai Ye felt no resistance. Cutting through their bodies was as easy as slicing through paper, which was enough to show the terror of the lightsaber.
"Interesting!"
Bai Ye exclaimed, then aimed at a leaping Twilight Dragon beside him and swung again with all his might. Then…
A bone-piercing pain surged through him.
Bai Ye bared his teeth and looked. The Twilight Dragon had actually bitten down on his arm.
Bai Ye looked at his lightsaber with bewilderment. How did only the hilt remain?
Then…
Bai Ye suddenly understood something and almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
A Lightsaber Flash!
A brilliant flash of light passed…
"Damn it!" Bai Ye threw away the lightsaber, grabbed the Twilight Dragon's body with one hand, pulled it off, and tossed it aside, saying, "It really does just flash and then it's gone!"
As he let go of the Twilight Dragon, Bai Ye made a grasping motion. The Frost Sword flew swiftly into his hand. Immediately after, Bai Ye raised his sword and brought it down, cleaving a leaping Twilight Dragon in two.
"My Frost treasure is still the best," Bai Ye sighed, then shouted to Dr. Hard, "Run forward, quickly."
Dr. Hard nodded and immediately ran forward.
Bai Ye also quickly followed, but the Twilight Dragons were relentless, chasing after them closely, and then…
Bai Ye aimed at the position where the Twilight Dragons were pursuing and suddenly shouted, "Explode!"
Boom, boom!
The invisible detonation markers Bai Ye had set in advance proved useful at this moment. A deafening roar suddenly erupted, and trees collapsed.
The pursuing Twilight Dragons were instantly blown away.
Only then did Bai Ye and Dr. Hard slow their pace, looking back to confirm that no Twilight Dragons were chasing them anymore.
"Let's keep moving!" Bai Ye patted Dr. Hard's shoulder and said, "Although we've escaped this ordeal, we can't stay in this place any longer."
Dr. Hard nodded and followed Bai Ye forward.
After a series of attacks, both Bai Ye and Dr. Hard became more vigilant.
However, when bad luck happens too often, it seems to eventually turn around. By morning, Bai Ye and Dr. Hard had not encountered any other dinosaurs.
Even on their way to the Research Institute No. 3 to retrieve the Amber Stone, they encountered no danger.
Looking at the sunlight filtering through the treetops, Bai Ye said, "We should have left the management area by now, right?"
Dr. Hard nodded. "If we calculate the distance, we left an hour ago. We're now in the tourist area, where there should be more dinosaurs. The reason we haven't encountered any is probably just good luck?"
As soon as Dr. Hard finished speaking, a deafening roar echoed from afar.
Bai Ye immediately formed a sword seal, causing the Frost Sword to hover beside him. At the same time, he cast a resentful glance at Dr. Hard, "What a jinx you are!"
But when Bai Ye looked at Dr. Hard, he saw that Dr. Hard's face was filled with excitement, devoid of any fear.
"We're saved!" Dr. Hard grabbed Bai Ye. "Let's go!"
Bai Ye watched Dr. Hard run excitedly towards the sound, and quickly followed, confused, "What's going on?"
"We've found bodyguards," Dr. Hard said. "That's the sound of a Brontosaurus."
Bai Ye tilted his head. "Hmm?"
Dr. Hard explained, "Brontosauruses are herbivorous dinosaurs with very gentle temperaments. They won't retaliate unless attacked, and very few other dinosaurs are willing to provoke these giants. Although Brontosauruses don't have sharp claws, they have strong teeth, powerful bites, and are enormous and numerous."
Bai Ye, not being foolish, immediately understood. "So, we've found a herd of Brontosauruses, and we'll follow them for protection?"
Dr. Hard nodded excitedly.
The two of them immediately quickened their pace. About fifteen minutes later, a large expanse of light appeared ahead, and then Bai Ye and Dr. Hard emerged from the forest.
Before them lay a vast lake. About eight or nine Brontosauruses were drinking at the lake's edge, occasionally lifting their heads and letting out roars.
Dr. Hard gestured, signaling Bai Ye to stay behind him.
As they walked, Dr. Hard said, "Although Brontosauruses are gentle and rarely attack proactively, that's by their own species' standards. So, we should try not to be seen by them..."
As Dr. Hard spoke, he pointed behind the Brontosauruses.
"Brontosauruses have long necks but small heads, which obstruct their vision. When they're not looking down, they can't see to the sides. And even when they do look down, it's hard for them to see things behind or diagonally behind them. So, we just need to follow behind them." Dr. Hard paused. "There's only one thing we need to be careful about."
Bai Ye asked, "What is it?"
Dr. Hard replied, "Don't get stepped on."
Bai Ye was speechless, but after looking at the Brontosauruses' size, he felt it made sense. These were truly colossal creatures, on an entirely different level from Velociraptors and the like. They must weigh at least ten tons. One step from them would send him either to heaven or on the way there.
