Chapter 46: Blood Veil Elixir, New Perk, Yuna’s Suspicion
I also planned to create a Species Evolution Potion for Carlotta.
Since I planned to have her work for me, she needed to be strong enough to handle the tasks I gave her.
The fastest way to make her stronger was to evolve her from a Rank 1 Human to a Rank 2 High Human.
It would also boost her natural talent, though not as much as my evolution would.
’A Rank 1 Human can only operate with either a Mana-based Class or an Aura-based Class.’
’But once Carlotta reaches Rank 2, she’ll be able to train in both.’
As for me, dragons could train in both even at Rank 1.
Honestly, dragons were a cheat race, especially for someone like me, who already knew the requirements for a lot of their evolution pathways.
"I first need to earn more money," I muttered, opening the drawer beside me. Inside was a piece of wrapped cloth.
"If I want to push my Mage Class to four-star grade, I’ll need a lot more gold."
That four-star threshold was important.
The moment I reached it, my Mage Class would rise from Rank 0 to Rank 1.
Not all classes progressed the same way.
But the other classes needed to grade-up and hit a milestone before its rank could be increased.
Mage and Alchemist Class were like this.
[Class Rank System – Mage]
Rank 0 Mage: 0-star to 3-star
Rank 1 Mage: 4-star to 6-star
Rank 2 Mage: 7-star to 9-star
.
[Class Rank System – Alchemist]
Rank 0: Apprentice → Journeyman → Formulation Alchemist
Rank 1: Combat Alchemist → Artisan Alchemist
Mage Classes had a ceiling of Rank 2.
After reaching it, they could evolve into higher-rank classes.
Alchemists, on the other hand, had a ceiling of Rank 1.
That might sound bad, but it wasn’t.
Low-ceiling classes evolved faster, and once they evolved, they became much stronger than normal ones.
Having a properly evolved class early was a massive advantage, especially when you already knew what you were aiming for.
’Alright. I need alchemy materials to create the Species Evolution Potion for me and Carlotta,’ I thought, pulling open a hidden compartment under the counter.
’To get those, I need money.’
’And to increase my Mage Class grade, I also need money.’
It always came down to money.
I had been preparing for this for the past two years.
Yuna knew it too.
"The fastest way to earn money is to sell something people need desperately," I said. "Yuna, enchant these as I’ve asked you."
"As you wish, Lord of Shadows."
Yuna floated beside me, and started her work.
The items in my hands were all ordinary things, but thanks to Yuna, they could serve as substitutes for rare alchemical materials.
I laid them out neatly on the countertop.
A teaspoon of turmeric. A dried lemon peel. Filtered tap water boiled with bay leaves. Finely ground activated charcoal from an old water filter. Copper wire. Vinegar. Crushed mint leaves. A few drops of used engine oil. A pinch of powdered salt from iodized table salt.
And finally, my own blood.
"With these, I can access the [Underworld] and sell the ’items’ I’ve prepared to earn money," I said.
I went over the formula once more in my mind.
These were substitute materials, chosen because after being enchanted they had similar properties to the rare ingredients used in proper DNA-rewriting potions.
I took out a dagger from my Inventory Rune and sliced the tip of my finger.
Thin red lines formed across my skin, and a few drops of blood fell to the floor.
I crouched and began drawing runes using the blood, creating a small alchemy circle at the center of the room.
When the runes were complete, I carefully placed the materials around the circle in a specific order.
The pattern had to be exact.
Even one mistake could make the entire array explode, or worse, attract something I couldn’t handle.
Once everything was in place, I sat cross-legged in front of it and rested my palms on the outer ring.
I took a deep breath and began chanting in [Runic Language].
It wasn’t an ordinary language.
It was the original tongue of Alchemy.
Using it increased the success rate of complex reactions by twenty percent.
"Om kara ve mis tael... renu valen... niro sama alis."
My mana started to flow into the array.
The runes lit up with a soft red glow that slowly shifted into green.
"Essel trin mora... kai vis sol... rexa dahl ven.
"Hjss bira. Uytre ghi. Gseh hilk. Errre siklop."
The air grew heavy. The temperature rose.
A faint hum echoed through the room.
Sweat began forming on my forehead as I continued chanting.
Even with mana as a Catalyst, the process was unstable.
Before, I used to use my life force as a Catalyst.
Now I had mana, but the level of this alchemy was much higher than anything I’d done previously.
I was crafting a potion meant to twist the very properties of blood, to scramble the inherent data that made it traceable.
Sweat dripped from my forehead as the materials began to melt together inside the formation.
Fumes rose. A low humming filled the room.
After several tense minutes, a glowing green liquid floated above the circle.
Class Alchemist
Grade: Journeyman Alchemist → Formulation Alchemist
+3 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence
Perk Gained: [Creative Spark]
Perk Effect:Combining two known recipes has a higher chance of creating a successful hybrid formula.
I released a long breath and leaned back.
My shoulders felt heavy. My hands were shaking a little from the alchemy process’ burden.
"Shadow, put that potion into a container."
My shadow stretched across the floor and rose like a ripple of smoke.
It slid toward the floating green potion, moving quickly before the liquid could fall and ruin the entire process.
I pointed at a small glass cup near the edge of the runic circle.
The shadow caught the potion midair and poured it carefully into the cup.
Then it carried the cup back to me, holding it up like a waiter presenting a drink.
I took it and looked closely at the glowing liquid.
This was Blood Veil Elixir.
A small smile formed on my lips.
"Finally."
It was a must-have for assassins or spies.
It didn’t just hide the scent or signature of blood.
It rewrote it entirely.
If I was injured, no one could trace me by blood analysis.
Even more important, it protected against shamanism and certain demonic rituals that used blood to curse or locate people.
Of course, there was a drawback.
To restore my blood back to normal, I needed an antidote.
Without it, the change would stay for months or even years.
I lifted the cup and drank it in one go.
The taste was awful—bitter, like crushed mint mixed with rusted metal—but I didn’t stop.
The potion burned down my throat.
For a moment, it felt like something inside my veins twisted out of place before settling again.
Done.
’I needed to drink this to access the Underworld.’
I stood up and opened a portal beside me.
On the other side was my father’s study.
The dim yellow light made the wooden shelves look older than they were.
Papers were stacked across a wide mahogany desk, and an off-white computer sat near a pile of files.
I stepped through and closed the portal behind me.
The air smelled faintly of old paper and cologne.
I walked toward the desk and pressed the computer’s power button.
The old machine took its time to start.
The fan made a weak whirring sound before the green text flashed on the dull CRT monitor.
I sighed, glancing at the tall chair. Being short wasn’t helping.
After a moment, I made a small portal right above the chair and stepped through it. That was faster.
The login screen appeared. I cracked my fingers and smiled.
"Alright. Let’s make some money."
I started typing.
The first step was to access the black market: Underworld.
Underworld was a hidden online marketplace run by the Olympians, a major Exorcist Clan.
It was one of the most famous black markets.
It wasn’t the only one—Narakh, Helheim, and Diyu were also well known—but Underworld stood out for its accessibility.
It was where Exorcists, smugglers, and supernatural groups traded anything illegal or forbidden.
Weapons, relics, contracts, cursed items, slaves. You could find it all there.
Most black markets needed you to physically enter through hidden gates.
Underworld was different.
You could reach it online if you had the right connection method and did a blood verification.
That’s why I needed the Blood Veil Elixir.
Without it, they could backtrack my blood to me, and find my real identity.
...
Yuna’s POV
Yuna watched him carefully.
The way he moved didn’t match his age at all.
His fingers flew over the keyboard as if he’d been using it for years.
’The way to access the website was exactly like he said,’ she thought, surprised.
The more she saw, the more questions she had.
How did he know all this?
He knew alchemy, runes, breathing techniques, combat patterns, even rare information about Cursed Spirits.
None of it made sense for someone his age, or even for someone with his Class.
’Is the Class really giving him all this information?’ she wondered.
That excuse felt weak.
The Shadow Class shouldn’t have access to information about Carlotta, who was just an ordinary human girl on Earth.
Even if the Class provided knowledge, it didn’t explain his fighting ability.
His movements, his wild instincts. Everything felt like that of a seasoned veteran.
’He fights like someone who’s lived through dozens of wars,’ she thought.
Yuna’s mind raced.
There were only a few explanations for this kind of knowledge and instinct.
’Either he’s a reincarnator or a transmigrator. Or maybe... a regressor.’
