Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Genius Alchemist Klein!
On the arena, Blair and Klein still looked upset.
Even though they had surrendered, Logan didn’t let them leave.
"Logan! Are you going to fight us to the end?"Blair stared at him, gripping his blades again.
Just as he was about to move, Klein stopped him.
Klein turned to Logan and said coldly: "Logan, what terms do you want this time?"
Logan looked at Klein and said, "Cure the people poisoned by the shapeshift potion, and kneel to apologize."
Klein frowned at his words, then slowly eased up. "You want me to save them? You should kneel and beg me first."
Blair burst out laughing. "Logan, even if Klein won’t save them, do you really think you can kill us?"
Klein sat down right there, his eyes cold and proud as he looked at Logan. "You all work so hard in the Genius Training Camp just to chase a vague [supernova] title. Logan, listen up: my status in the Federation Alchemists Association is on the same level as the [supernova] in your familiar tamer group."
As soon as he finished, vines shaped the spot under him into a platform and lifted it dozens of meters into the air.
Countless vines followed, blocking the black ant army that tried to chase him.
Sitting on the high platform, Klein casually pulled a potion vial from his familiar space and smiled. "Logan, you should know, besides healing people, the most important job of a Federation alchemist is killing bugs."
Snap!
The vial shattered, and the liquid hit the air and quickly turned into green smoke, drifting down from the sky.
The black ants near the smoke were hit right away. They collapsed and rolled on the ground, unable to harm Klein anymore.
By now, Blair had put on a gas mask. With a light jump, he landed beside Klein, looking smug. "Logan, we’ve already conceded, so we won’t interfere with your fight with Victor. But if you keep making demands, be careful—we might ’accidentally’ let this poison spread outside the arena."
Blair’s voice was loud. The crowd in the stands heard him and went pale.
General Philip pinned Sorenso with one hand and glared at Klein, so angry he could barely speak.
Garen, the City Lord of Saint Heart City, sighed and raised his hand. A pale gold barrier spread out and wrapped the whole arena. "Don’t worry, a little poison like this can’t break our defense."
Logan looked at the vines in front of him, thick as tree trunks, and laughed. "Explode!"
At his order, the trembling black ant army swarmed to the roots of the vines.
Boom after boom rang out. Flames shot up and swallowed all the vines in an instant.
Klein scrambled up from the platform, panic on his face. Through clenched teeth, he said: "How dare he! He actually made dozens of ants self-destruct!"
Before he finished, a sharp cry sounded behind Logan. The horned hawk, Red Feather, swept its wings across the sky over the arena.
The poison gas in the air was dragged by the airflow behind Red Feather and got pulled away, forming a dark green whirl.
Another cry rang out.
Behind Yelena, the Icebound Phoenix kept firing freezing beams, turning the whirl under Red Feather into a giant ice sculpture.
As the ice sculpture crashed to the ground, Klein and Blair tumbled back onto the arena, looking a mess.
Seeing his plan broken by Logan, Klein’s face turned ugly. "A succubus, a sea turtle, a swarm of black ants and three ant queens, and that bird... Logan! How many familiars do you have?"
Logan ignored him and looked at Victor. "You’ve been hesitating this whole time. You didn’t strike during the chaos, and you didn’t give up either. What are you struggling with?"
At Logan’s words, sweat broke out on Victor’s forehead.
In his mind, the Nine-Headed Dragon kept whispering, asking to be let out.
"Victor, remove the seal and release me. I can help you kill that Logan!"
"Victor, don’t you want to be the Federation’s supernova? Let me out. I can make it happen!"
"Victor..."
"Shut up! I can do it myself!"With the last bit of his reason, Victor held back the urge to release the Nine-Headed Dragon, Hydra.
At this point, never mind fighting—just staying on his feet was hard enough.
In the stands, Sorenso noticed something was wrong with Victor and felt a bad premonition.
"Philip! We surrender!"Sorenso’s voice was firm and without hesitation.
General Philip sensed something off but didn’t dig into it.
He didn’t like Klein or Victor, but he knew they were also the future backbone of the Human Federation. They couldn’t be allowed to die here.
If he didn’t step in and Logan accidentally killed someone, he’d have a huge headache.
Don’t be fooled by how Sorenso let him push him around—that’s only because Sorenso has been used to Philip bullying him since they were young.
But if Philip really touched Sorenso’s precious grandson, he was sure Sorenso would fight him to the death.
General Philip sighed, rushed to the center of the arena, grabbed Victor, and asked: "Your grandpa has conceded. Do you agree?"
At his words, a struggle crossed Victor’s face.
Soon, he lowered his head, looking dejected, and accepted the result.
After all, he couldn’t afford the cost of releasing the Nine-Headed Dragon. "I..."
Just as Victor forced down the urge in his mind and was about to concede, Logan’s voice cut in: "You and your teammates haven’t knelt and apologized yet. You can’t surrender!"
Hearing this, General Philip frowned but didn’t stop him.
Victor tried to speak, but his eyes suddenly shut and he collapsed.
Seeing this, Klein rushed to Victor’s side and fed him a potion.
When Victor’s color eased a bit, Klein looked up at Logan, his voice ice-cold. "He’s already lost."
Logan sighed and ordered the black ants to return to the familiar space. "Next time, I’ll make you kneel fair and square."
Logan didn’t pity Victor, but he didn’t want to take advantage of someone when they were down.
Watching Victor leave the arena, Logan quietly spoke with Kerparos in the familiar space: "Did you see it clearly? What is that evil mental power on Victor?"
Inside the familiar space, Kerparos’s three wolf heads frowned at the same time, a serious look on each face. "That kid is crazy. He made a contract with an S-level familiar when it was still young. From what I saw just now, that familiar has probably hit its teen stage and is starting to rebel."
Kerparos looked smug. "Logan, don’t take Victor seriously. He’s no longer fit to compete with you. His best ending is to become that S-level familiar’s puppet. An elite-rank familiar tamer daring to go after an S-level familiar? That’s suicide."
Logan was surprised by Kerparos’s analysis.
After fighting Victor a few times, Logan had already seen it: Victor’s talent is high, but not unmatched.
What really makes him so strong for his age are the resources the Tattalia family poured into him.
Sadly, those resources made Victor—and hurt him too.
Thinking of this, Logan shook his head. "Someone like that isn’t worthy to be my opponent anymore."
Logan then fixed his gaze on Klein.
Compared to Victor’s impulsiveness and arrogance, Klein is smart and decisive, calm and reserved, cold and ruthless.
He left a strong impression on Logan. "Kerparos, next time we get a chance, keep an eye on that Klein for me. I feel he’s hard to read and hiding a lot of secrets."
Kerparos pouted with all three heads. "Master, you’re worrying for nothing. As long as you help me heal, that damned Nine-Headed Dragon and Klein—before a Three-Headed Hell Wolf, they’re just appetizers to warm up, not even a main course."
"Keep bragging,"Logan rolled his eyes, then closed the familiar space and cut off Kerparos.
By then, Sophia had already pulled the referee onto the stage to announce the result of the internal match.
No surprise—the champion was Logan’s squad.
Even though Victor’s team didn’t fight to the very end, Logan had already proved his strength. Everyone there—the training camp members and the audience—believed that even if they had gone all the way, Logan would still have won.
Cheers and praise burst from the arena and the stands without holding back.
The Duke of Storms and the Lord of Edo Castle sat on the VIP platform, grinning from ear to ear.
Just then, Natalia returned to the stands, and the two elders hurried over to greet her.
When they asked why Logan had so many familiars, Natalia smiled wide. "What’s your relationship with Logan? Is it really okay to ask something that private?"
"What’s not okay? I’ll marry my daughter to him—besides, they’ve already slept together!"The Duke of Storms kept pressing, shamelessly selling out Yelena.
"My granddaughter has already spent the night with Logan. So what do you think my relationship with him is?"The City Lord of Edo Castle refused to be outdone and kept asking.
Hearing the two City Lords act so shameless, Natalia shot them a fierce glare. "Then I definitely won’t tell you!"
"Why not?"The two City Lords looked annoyed, and even Garen, the City Lord of Saint Heart City, perked up and leaned in.
"Because Logan is the Corleone family’s chosen son-in-law."Before Natalia could speak, Evelynna walked up with an elder at her side and said it plainly.
