Chapter 36 Five Spirit Spells

The collapsing ceiling crashed down, burying the King of Huai Nan.

At the same time…

As the tomb collapsed, a beam of sunlight pierced through the opening, illuminating the interior.

Bai Ye leaped up at that instant, using the rubble to propel himself upwards, following the beam of light and bursting out.

Then…

Boom!

The moment Bai Ye escaped the tomb, a thunderous roar erupted from the ruins, followed by countless stones being blasted outwards in all directions, striking the surrounding walls.

The King of Huai Nan, full of rage, emerged from the shattered debris, his face a mask of fury as he searched for Bai Ye. Then…

“Ah!”

As the sunlight hit the King of Huai Nan, he let out a piercing scream, staggering backward into the shadows. He then raised his head to look at Bai Ye above.

Bai Ye smiled, provocatively drawing a thumb across his throat.

Come out if you dare!

Once outside the tomb, the King of Huai Nan was no longer invincible.

If the King of Huai Nan dared to come out, Bai Ye would kill him!

The King of Huai Nan ground his teeth in hatred, but ultimately did not step into the sunlight. Instead, his body dissolved into smoke and vanished without a trace, presumably to find another unlucky soul.

Although Bai Ye had taken the Five Spirit Disk, there was still someone with the Grand Radiance Immortal Pill.

It was clear that the King of Huai Nan intended to vent his anger on that person.

Watching the King of Huai Nan disappear, Bai Ye let out a hearty laugh and turned, leaping down the hillside outside the tomb.

The next moment…

“You have left the King of Huai Nan’s tomb and obtained the reward: Five Spirit Disk x1, Fragment of God Stone x5.”

The King of Huai Nan’s tomb was built within the mountainside. Therefore, after Bai Ye blasted it open, he found himself back on the slopes of Mount Bagong, effectively escaping the King of Huai Nan’s tomb and completing the final restricted area mission.

The only regret was that the Grand Radiance Immortal Pill was not in Bai Ye’s possession, thus it was not included in the rewards. However, Bai Ye didn't particularly covet such a thing anyway, so it didn't matter.

Running down the hillside, Bai Ye reached the bottom and, with a roll, slid the rest of the way down to the mountain path.

Lying on the ground, Bai Ye gasped for breath.

After a short rest, Bai Ye got up and looked at the Five Spirit Disk in his hand.

The Five Spirit Disk appeared to be a bronze disc, but in reality, it was a manual. It recorded the Five Spirit Incantations, a supreme art that combined Taoist magic and cultivation.

The Five Spirit Incantations corresponded to the five elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, and in turn, corresponded to the five types of Taoist magic: lightning, fire, wind, earth, and water. Simultaneously, these five types of magic corresponded to the five attributes of the physical body: strength, speed, endurance, spirit, and qi.

Bai Ye’s primary interest lay in the latter.

While the T-virus had strengthened Bai Ye’s physique, it was a one-time enhancement. To survive in the world battlefield, this was clearly insufficient. Bai Ye needed a means of continuous improvement to become stronger.

The Five Spirit Incantations perfectly fit this need, allowing Bai Ye to continuously strengthen his physique through cultivation.

The five attributes – strength, speed, endurance, spirit, and qi – represented physical power, velocity, stamina, mental fortitude. As for intelligence, it could not be enhanced by external means. The ‘qi’ in the Five Spirit Incantations referred to the internal vital energy of the human body, which was required when using sword techniques or Taoist magic.

Alternatively, Bai Ye felt it could be explained more directly: this was equivalent to a mana bar in a game.

Furthermore, by cultivating his physique, he could also acquire the five types of Taoist magic – lightning, fire, wind, earth, and water – for free. Why wouldn’t he?

Bai Ye mused as he turned the Five Spirit Disk.

“Use the Five Spirit Disk?”

Was there even a question?

“You have learned Thunder Incantation.”

“You have learned Earth Incantation.”

“You have learned Wind Incantation.”

“You have learned Fire Incantation.”

“You have learned Water Incantation.”

“Five Spirit Disk currently accumulating spirit (0/100)”

The five incantations were learned, but they were currently at the lowest level of Taoist magic. They also required cultivation to increase their proficiency. Among them, the Thunder Incantation was primarily offensive, possessing a paralyzing effect. The Wind Incantation was also offensive, with a poisonous wind effect. The Fire Incantation was offensive, causing a burning effect. The Earth Incantation was both offensive and defensive, capable of both attacking and defending. The Water Incantation was a utility spell, capable of healing and strengthening oneself, as well as weakening enemies. It possessed some offensive power but was not outstanding.

As for the cultivation method, both the five types of magic and the physical cultivation relied on the Five Spirit Disk to accumulate spirit. There were several ways to accumulate spirit.

The first method was to simply leave it be. The Five Spirit Disk could absorb the five elemental energies from nature, accumulating spirit bit by bit.

The second method was to kill beings related to the five elements, from whom spirit-accumulating elements could be obtained.

The third method involved various items related to the five elements. After absorbing them with the Five Spirit Disk, spirit could be accumulated.

Once the accumulated spirit reached its maximum, cultivation could begin. The accumulation would then reset, requiring a new cycle of accumulation.

As it stood, learning the Five Spirit Incantations had no immediate effect on Bai Ye’s physique, as he hadn't even completed one accumulation cycle. However, Bai Ye sought the Five Spirit Incantations for long-term gain and was not in a hurry. Moreover, having learned five types of magic was still quite good.

“Next, I should look for the spirit body!”

Bai Ye put away the Five Spirit Disk and planned to leave the Mount Bagong area. He already had a target. With his past life experiences, Bai Ye could bypass many detours, or rather, he knew more clearly what he needed.

He descended the mountain path. Not long after, Bai Ye suddenly stopped and looked towards the forest on the side.

Since his body was enhanced by the T-virus, in addition to the obvious improvements, Bai Ye’s five senses had become significantly more acute.

Therefore…

Footsteps!

Bai Ye shifted his body, hiding below the slope by the mountain path.

Soon, voices could be heard.

“Did that kid really head in this direction?”

“No mistake. After the tomb collapsed, the outside was a slope. If he didn’t come down this way, where else could he have gone?”

“But we’ve been walking for half the day and haven’t seen a single shadow.”

“The slope is huge. It’s normal not to find him easily. Huang Zhan has already taken people to the mountain path entrances on both sides. Don’t worry, he won’t escape.”

“Hmm, speaking of which, does he really have good stuff on him?”

“How could he not? Why else would the King of Huai Nan chase him so fiercely? He must have found something good in the tomb. He might have even completed the restricted area mission, which means he still has fragments of God Stone. Heh heh…”

A man made a gesture across his throat.

“Killing him would most likely yield fragments of God Stone. That would be a great contribution.”
