The maid and the doctor left, the former to their duties, the latter to his rounds. Only the two of them remained in the living room. Fu Jingshu pulled Shen Qingqing to sit beside him on the sofa. "There's something I want to tell you."
Shen Qingqing nodded slightly. "Go ahead."
"It's about Lu Wanying." He slowly began to recount the events of the past.
It was similar to what Madam Fu had said, only more detailed. Told from his perspective, Shen Qingqing mostly heard his guilt towards Lu Wanying, as well as his anger and helplessness at the time.
She felt a pang of sadness and couldn't help but hold his hand. "Stop talking, I understand."
Fu Jingshu pursed his lips. "I..."
"I wasn't upset because you sided with Lu Wanying, but because I felt your emotional entanglement was too complicated, and I didn't want to get involved."
Shen Qingqing explained softly, but before she could finish, her hand was clasped.
His gaze was filled with anxiety, as if he feared she would run away again.
"Don't worry, I've already agreed to what you promised me, so I'm not running away." She explained with a hint of helplessness, "But when did you order the wedding invitations?"
She had kept it a secret until now!
Fu Jingshu coughed lightly. "I had someone order them a while ago, but they were only recently completed."
"A while back, we were in such a mess, I thought..."
There would be no wedding.
Fu Jingshu disliked hearing this, as it always felt like an ill omen. He slowly said, "There will definitely be one, because I never intended to give up."
Shen Qingqing lowered her gaze and said softly, "Neither did I."
Even at her angriest, she had only thought about not interacting with him in the future, but she had never truly considered breaking up. It was probably more out of pique.
Fu Jingshu hugged her shoulders, his voice low and gentle. "I plan to order the invitations and send them out."
"Okay."
Now that things were cleared up, Shen Qingqing became exceptionally agreeable.
The next day, he had several invitations custom-made. When these invitations were sent out, many were surprised that Fu Jingshu was actually going to get married!
Especially seeing Shen Qingqing's name on them, everyone felt a sense of inevitability.
King, who was abroad, also received word from Shen Qingqing. He was very surprised. "You're just going to get married like this? Without even discussing it with me?"
Shen Qingqing paused. "Discuss what..."
Wasn't this marriage her own decision to make?
King tutted. "How about this, I'll head back now. Even if I can't stop you, I absolutely must be present at your wedding!"
"...If I can't make it back..."
Before she could finish, King interrupted her with a grumpy tone. "I will definitely make it back. I am your teacher. As the saying goes in ancient times, 'Once a teacher, always a father.' I am essentially your father. You're getting married, not consulting me, and only telling me when the wedding is about to happen. Is that too much?!"
...What twisted logic!
A teacher only becomes like a father based on age, and looking at him, so young, he hardly seemed like anyone's father!
But Shen Qingqing couldn't refute him. "As you wish."
King was finally satisfied. After hanging up, he immediately had his travel arrangements made and embarked on his journey back. After two hours of flying, the plane finally landed at the airport.
He grabbed his luggage and hurried out.
Moving too fast, he unexpectedly collided with someone who appeared around the corner. He was fine, but the other person seemed to fall to the ground like a sheet of paper.
"Are you alright?" He wore sunglasses and could only tell it was a girl, but he didn't look closely, nor did he have the time.
"No, I'm fine..."
Lu Wanying felt a shadow fall over her vision. Her first thought upon looking up was that this person was tall, probably about the same height as Fu Jingshu.
Secondly, he was handsome!
He was a completely different type from Fu Jingshu. If Fu Jingshu was like the perpetually unmelted ice and frost on a mountain, cold and imposing, yet tempting to touch, but hesitant to do so for fear of offending.
Then this man in front of her was a temptress.
Even with sunglasses, only his nose and mouth were visible, yet his charm was already apparent. Especially when he raised his hand and removed the sunglasses.
His exposed narrow eyes were filled with allure.
Lu Wanying's heart suddenly skipped a beat. She quickly got up from the ground, clutching her arm. "I used my hand to brace myself on the ground just now. I don't know if I hurt my bone, it's a bit painful."
"You just said you were fine."
King's eyes narrowed behind his sunglasses. This person was contradicting herself; she wasn't quite right.
Lu Wanying clutched her arm, tears welling up in her eyes as if on cue. She bit her lip, looking pitiful. "You bumped into me, shouldn't you take me to the hospital?"
"You seem fine to me." King's gaze was sharp, and he could tell at a glance that she was not seriously injured. "I have urgent matters to attend to and can't stay here long. I can give you my number. If you feel unwell later, contact me."
He casually reached into his pocket and found a business card that someone had given him during a previous meeting.
It listed the other party's company address, his name, and phone number.
He wrote a number on the back.
"Here, contact me if anything comes up."
King strode away. Lu Wanying, however, followed behind him. She no longer cried out about her arm hurting and kept her gaze fixed on his face.
"Are you just leaving like this?"
"I have things to do." King didn't look back, not even giving her a glance. He was walking fast, making Lu Wanying pant to keep up.
But she was unwilling to give up. "Where are you going? You don't look like you're from here. You probably aren't familiar with this place. Why don't you tell me? If it's somewhere you don't know, I can take you."
King was annoyed by her pursuit. He suddenly stopped, turned, and looked at her. Those beautiful, alluring eyes were already tinged with impatience. "What exactly do you want?"
He stopped so abruptly that Lu Wanying almost ran into him. She finally managed to steady herself, her face flushed from running and slightly out of breath. "I just want to be friends with you."
"Do friends chase after people like this?" He thought women abroad were passionate enough, but he didn't expect women in China to be so bold.
He glanced at his watch. Nearly 20 minutes had passed since he landed. He didn't want to waste any more time on this strange woman, so he asked directly, "Do you like me?"
Lu Wanying froze, then her face grew redder. "I'm not really... I just, I just feel like we have a connection, we can be friends..."
If his expression wasn't so coy and flirtatious, King might have believed her a little. "Let me tell you the truth. I already have a girlfriend."
Lu Wanying's eyes widened. "I don't believe you."
A handsome man like this, who was so high-quality, would surely be extremely picky when looking for a girlfriend. How could he have one so quickly?
"I really have a girlfriend," King said solemnly.
"I don't believe it, unless you show me proof."
King rolled his eyes behind his sunglasses and took out his phone, bringing up a photo. It was a picture of Shen Qingqing sleeping that he had secretly taken last time.
As soon as Lu Wanying saw the photo, her face turned cold. When she saw King about to put his phone away, she quickly stopped him. "Can I look at it more closely?"
To make her give up, King actually handed her his phone.
Lu Wanying's eyes flickered. She sent the photo to her own phone and then, with swift movements of her left hand, sent the photo to Fu Jingshu.
