Chapter 269 Not Knowing What's Good for Them

The atmosphere after he stayed was completely different from what Lu Wan Ying had imagined.

There was no attentive care or gentle coddling, only a cold, distant back. He sat on the sofa, staring at his phone, not sparing her a single glance.

She tentatively made a request, "I want some water."

Fu Jing Shu got up to pour it.

The water temperature was just right. As Lu Wan Ying drank, she couldn't help but steal glances at him. Seeing his handsome face, though cold, stirred her quiet heart once more.

She liked everything that was beautiful.

"Jing Shu, I'm hungry..." she said pitifully.

"I'll have the servants prepare something for you."

Fu Jing Shu rose and walked out. He returned shortly with a tray, placing it directly on the bedside table before walking back to the sofa.

Lu Wan Ying let out a soft whimper.

He paused slightly and turned to look, seeing her bite her lip, "I... I have no strength."

Fu Jing Shu narrowed his eyes and got up.

Was he coming to feed her?

Lu Wan Ying was overjoyed. As long as he was willing to approach her, it was a good thing. She was sure she could make him like her again, and they could return to their past happiness.

He turned and walked towards the door.

She froze. "Jing Shu, where are you going?"

"To find someone to feed you."

He left the room without looking back. When he returned, he had a servant with him.

But Lu Wan Ying didn't want a servant. The fragrant dishes tasted like chewing wax. Halfway through, she suddenly pushed them away, saying she couldn't eat anymore.

As soon as the servant had cleared the bowls and chopsticks and left, she said sweetly, "Jing Shu, I heard you can cook noodles."

This was something Nuo Nuo had heard from Xi Xi, who had boastfully told them that Fu Jing Shu had cooked noodles for them and Shen Qing Qing.

She had been consumed by jealousy when she heard it.

Fu Jing Shu merely looked at her, his gaze inscrutable.

Lu Wan Ying slowly sat up, her face pale and appearing very frail. "Jing Shu, I have no other requests, just a bowl of noodles, please."

She was beautiful, and coupled with her practiced pathetic demeanor, she was incredibly endearing.

Fu Jing Shu tucked his phone into his pocket and cast a cool glance at her. "You've gone too far."

Lu Wan Ying's face turned white.

"I agreed to stay out of consideration for our past, not wanting you to be sick in my home." In fact, from the moment he agreed to stay, he had been restless.

He had even started regretting it the moment he said the words "stay here."

"Jing Shu..."

"Since you can't eat, then don't eat."

Fu Jing Shu saw that although her face was pale, her expression was not listless. He knew there was no major issue and turned to leave. It was only after reaching downstairs that he felt a moment of peace.

As soon as he left, Lu Wan Ying had Nuo Nuo find Fu Ting Yi and Fang Ruo.

In less than five minutes, the two had rushed downstairs and, without regard for the situation, began scolding Fu Jing Shu. "Wan Ying is a patient right now, how can you be so indifferent?"

"You should stay and take care of her. It's just a bowl of noodles, why don't you just cook it?"

"Regardless, she is your ex-girlfriend. It was because of you that she's been suffering from minor illnesses now. Don't you feel even a shred of guilt?"

The two voices intertwined. They weren't loud, but like an unavoidable fly, they were irritating.

Fu Jing Shu's annoyance gradually accumulated. Just then, a cold reprimand echoed from the living room.

"Enough!"

It was Old Mrs. Fu who descended the stairs, her face stern. "Are you two going to keep this up? How long ago was all this? You're still causing trouble!"

Fang Ruo softly retorted, "Mother, we are only doing this for Jing Shu's own good."

Old Mrs. Fu cast a cold glance at her, and she immediately fell silent. Then, the old lady looked at Fu Ting Yi. "Control your wife and don't interfere in Jing Shu's affairs, or you'll both get out."

When the old lady truly lost her temper, the couple wilted like eggplants, not daring to utter a sound.

"All of you, get out. I don't want to see you."

The couple slunk away.

Old Mrs. Fu then looked at her grandson, saying with disappointment, "Jing Shu, you've disappointed Grandma too much!"

She had already learned from Xi Xi's phone call that the two were bickering again, and that Fu Jing Shu had angered her away. This was why she had rushed downstairs to find him.

"Grandma, you don't know what's going on..."

"I don't know what's going on, but I do know that Qing Qing is a good girl! If you really chase her away, you'll regret it for sure!"

She had never seen her grandson like someone so much. Why didn't he cherish her?

Fu Jing Shu's expression was grim, and he remained silent.

"I really don't know what you're thinking!" Old Mrs. Fu, feeling tired from standing, sat down on the sofa and said earnestly, "Qing Qing is so wonderful, why don't you cherish her?"

"I do cherish her..." Fu Jing Shu said with some helplessness.

"Then why did you make her angry and run away, and not go after her?" Old Mrs. Fu said with a stern face. "If you're not going to chase her, fine, but why are you here entangled with this woman? Don't you know that Qing Qing hates Lu Wan Ying the most?!"

He knew that.

It was just seeing that photo that had momentarily clouded his judgment with anger.

Old Mrs. Fu didn't believe he was the kind of scumbag who didn't cherish what he had, so there must be another reason. "What is it that's causing you to quarrel with her?"

Fu Jing Shu hesitated, then took out his phone. The photo was still displayed.

"This is..." Old Mrs. Fu frowned slightly. "This is King?"

Fu Jing Shu looked confused. "How do you know?"

Old Mrs. Fu said impatiently, "Of course I know. Xi Xi told me long ago that his mother has a friend, a very close friend of many years, and he's a man. You've even been jealous about it a few times."

Being exposed for his petty jealousy by his grandmother... Fu Jing Shu felt a bit embarrassed.

"But Xi Xi told me Qing Qing had explained everything to you, so I didn't think much of it." Old Mrs. Fu sighed and then instructed a servant to retrieve a file from her bedside cabinet.

"Look for yourself."

The file indicated that Shen Qing Qing had left the country years ago and struggled to survive abroad, unfamiliar with the land and unable to speak the language. The hardships she had endured along the way were unimaginable.

And King was the one who had lent her a helping hand during her difficult times.

"He is Qing Qing's teacher." Old Mrs. Fu had investigated the matter at the time, but assuming the couple had resolved it, she hadn't produced the file. Who knew it would become such a bombshell.

So, he had misunderstood her.

Fu Jing Shu's expression tensed, and his fingers slowly tightened.

Old Mrs. Fu sighed. "Are you still going to be angry with Qing Qing?"

Fu Jing Shu placed the file on the table, his eyes resolute. "I'm going to find her."

He turned and left in a hurry.

Old Mrs. Fu glanced at the file on the table, its corner rumpled. She shook her head and called out, "Bring back my granddaughter-in-law soon!"
