The greedy man had taken most of her mother's belongings back then, but he hadn't kept any of them, selling them all.
This meant she now had to retrieve her mother's possessions one by one.
She gently rested her head on his shoulder.
"Did you learn all this from Xixi?"
Fu Jingshu grunted in response, his long index finger twirling her thick, silky hair. The strands kept slipping through his fingers, requiring him to exert more force to hold them.
"Yes."
He admitted it directly.
Shen Qingqing glared at him. "I thought you could keep your cool and not ask me anything. Turns out, you went behind my back and asked the child."
Fu Jingshu raised an eyebrow slightly. "You are my wife."
Of course, he had to ask.
It was strange, though. This statement wasn't exactly sweet talk, yet Shen Qingqing felt as if it had transformed into a stream of honey, sweetening her heart.
Not wanting him to think she was easily swayed, she playfully slapped his shoulder, feigning fierceness.
"I'm telling you, from now on, if you want to know anything about me, just ask me directly. I'll tell you everything."
Fu Jingshu hummed in agreement. "Understood. I won't ask anyone else from now on."
With such a good attitude, Shen Qingqing found herself unable to sustain any anger, especially since she wasn't truly upset to begin with.
She kissed Fu Jingshu on the cheek, the soft "pop" echoing in the quiet study.
"If you're going to show affection, can you at least hang up the phone first..."
Lin Mo's exasperated voice came from the phone.
Shen Qingqing then realized the call was still connected.
Fu Jingshu was even more ruthless, directly asking, "Why haven't you hung up yet? Eavesdropping on a couple's private conversation, are you a pervert?"
Lin Mo: "..."
He promptly hung up the phone.
If he didn't hang up now, he had no idea what kind of shocking mental illness or perversion Master Fu would accuse him of being.
Shen Qingqing looked at the address Lin Mo had sent her on her phone and checked the time. "Let's skip tonight. We'll go tomorrow."
"Alright."
Fu Jingshu scooped her up and they left the study, heading towards the bedroom. "However, I have a meeting tomorrow morning. I'll accompany you at noon."
"Actually, you don't have to. I can go by myself."
"No."
Fu Jingshu refused without hesitation.
As he finished speaking, they entered the room. Fu Jingshu closed the door and carefully placed his wife on the bed.
"I'll go with you."
He propped his hands on either side of her, looking down at her from above. There was no real sense of pressure, only a gaze filled with determination and finality.
"Okay, then we'll go together. I'll come to your company to find you tomorrow afternoon."
"Good."
Fu Jingshu replied.
Shen Qingqing smiled slightly but truly disliked his stern expression. She suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck.
And pulled with all her might!
Fu Jingshu, of course, didn't resist with brute force. Naturally, his grip loosened, and the distance between them rapidly closed.
Finally, their skin touched.
Shen Qingqing glanced outside. The night was deep, the moonlight was just right, and the bedroom was lit by a dim, yellowish glow.
Everything seemed perfect.
The atmosphere was just right.
She whispered, "Earlier, after we finished eating..."
"Come, let's eat."
Fu Jingshu's lips curved into a smile. He untied his tie and calmly unbuttoned his shirt, revealing his toned muscles.
A spark flashed in Shen Qingqing's eyes. She gently traced a fingertip over his skin, moving downwards, feeling the smooth, sculpted lines of his muscles.
Fu Jingshu's gaze deepened, a heat slowly igniting in his eyes.
...
The next morning.
When Shen Qingqing woke up, the space beside her in bed was already cold. She felt a little displeased. A set of clothes lay on the bedside table.
She put them on and went downstairs. She saw Xixi eating fruit. Upon seeing Shen Qingqing, he immediately ran over on his little legs. "Mommy, you're awake!"
Shen Qingqing ruffled his hair. "Where's your daddy?"
"Daddy said he had an urgent meeting at the company this morning and had to leave early. He'll be back as soon as he can."
Xixi thought of how his daddy's eyes could only see mommy, and he was truly happy for his mother.
"Uh-huh. Oh, right, I have some things to do too. I'll go take care of them. Call me if you need anything, Mommy!"
The little one said this and then ran off.
Shen Qingqing's mouth twitched. What important things could this little guy have? At most, it was homework, which he could do at home. Did he really need to make a phone call?
She shook her head.
Children really grew up fast; they had their own little secrets now.
...
In the afternoon, Shen Qingqing was about to head to the company to find Fu Jingshu when he unexpectedly returned from work first, personally driving to pick her up.
The two of them, following the address Lin Mo had given, arrived in less than half an hour's drive.
It was a villa complex. The villa before them was two stories high, and at the entrance, two sleek, dark dogs were kept.
Shen Qingqing raised an eyebrow slightly, looking at the two black dogs through the car window. "I really didn't expect people to keep black dogs these days."
"Although they might not be a specific breed, they look very fierce."
Fu Jingshu saw a hint of ferocity in the dogs' eyes.
"Whether these dogs are fierce or not, since we're here, we have to pay a visit."
Shen Qingqing opened the car door and stepped out.
Fu Jingshu followed closely behind.
The doorbell rang for a long time before a young woman finally opened the door.
"Who are you looking for?"
"We're looking for Mr. He," Shen Qingqing said.
"Do you have an appointment?"
Shen Qingqing's eyebrows shot up. "We need an appointment to pay a visit?"
Going to a company for business required an appointment, but now they needed one to visit someone's home?
It wasn't like visiting a doctor.
She inwardly grumbled.
The servant lingered at the door, blocking their way. "In any case, the master said that no one without an appointment is allowed in. You should make an appointment first."
Shen Qingqing's mouth twitched. She said meaningfully, "I think you should go in first and inform your master. My husband's surname is Fu. Perhaps after you tell him, he might be willing to see us."
The servant didn't recognize anyone named Fu and had no idea what that surname represented. However, seeing that their attire suggested they weren't ordinary people and fearing she might delay the master's matters, she hesitated before saying, "Please wait here for a moment."
She closed the door.
Not long after, she reappeared, but this time her attitude had done a complete 180-degree turn.
"Please follow me."
In the living room.
A middle-aged man was sitting on the sofa, holding a cup of coffee in one hand and engrossed in a magazine.
Upon hearing the footsteps, he looked up at Shen Qingqing and Fu Jingshu.
"Jingshu, you're here. Have a seat."
Hearing the familiar tone, Shen Qingqing instinctively looked at Fu Jingshu beside her, silently asking with her eyes: Do you know each other?
Fu Jingshu shook his head. He then looked closely at Mr. He, confirming that he didn't recognize him. However, he quickly deduced a possible reason. "Mr. He, do you have some connection with my grandmother?"
