Chapter 27: A Bloody Show
DAVINA
My feet tread behind Aria and her face filled with laughter irked me. She was my bully, caused me sadness multiple times, and even went after what was mine, and yet she had everything she ever wished for.
She seemed to take whatever I wanted.
At this moment showed off a box to Hera with a necklace embedded inside and a handwritten note from Shawn, professing his undying love.
The same Shawn who slept in my bed last night and was on the run? Yet, he couldn’t come see me. He appeared in school even though it was dangerous, just to see her?
My hands itched as I moved even faster toward her and Hera immediately spotted me.
"Look...she is here."
Aria turned her head to me and I liked the way her smile faltered just like the way she made me sick whenever I saw her.
"You had the nerve to come back to class, huh?" She seethed, passing the box to Hera, however, she placed it on the desk. My eyes were glued to it, and I immediately wanted to destroy it.
"You aren’t scared of what I could do to you?" She rushed at me, her hands raised just like always, "You bitch—"
I dodged in the blink of an eye, going under her outstretched arm and toward the box on the desk. I swiped it up in my hands before Hera could get to it.
"Don’t you dare touch my stuff with your filthy hands!"
"Too bad..." I chuckled, my head tilting to the side as my lips raised into a sly smile, "...it’s in my hands already."
"Put that down!"
"No!" I shrugged as I swirled the box in my hands. It was finely crafted and the necklace inside was the highlight, a shiny golden color that complemented her skin so well. And the note?
I started to read out loud, "See you later, my love. We will be waiting for you."
I realized Ethan and Uriel were also expecting to see her and Ethan had dared to kiss me earlier today.
I laughed, a blood-curdling hatred emanating from deep within me, and the next second, I slammed the box on the wall, and the parts split apart the next second. The necklace fell to the floor and she rushed to it while my chest heaved heavily.
"How dare you, Davina!" Aria screamed, picking up the necklace and carefully cradling it in her arms.
She slowly stood up, "Are you jealous that Shawn gave this to me and not you?"
"After all, you confessed your feelings to him and he rejected you! You are just a bitter bitch."
"Yes..." I nodded, my teeth gnashing while my eyes widened with red rims of tears. "I am just a bitter bitch indeed! And I know you deserve nothing of the love you have received."
My words were nothing but hate but Aria didn’t react just like I had wanted. Instead, she placed the necklace into Hera’s open hands haughtily.
She folded her arms, as her lips slowly curled into a mocking sneer, "Then who deserves the love? You?"
"Do you see how scrawny you look? Do you see how ugly you look? Even your mother doesn’t want you and shipped you off to live with a stepfather who probably doesn’t want you either."
"And you think you deserve love? Be for real." She rolled her eyes and the next second, they became intense, with malice embedded.
"You should be thankful you got to stand before me today. I would have scratched your face and left a permanent injury on that goddamn ugly face of yours!"
I saw our classmates shiver in fear, their hands touching their faces like it was a prized possession but I had no fear. I didn’t feel insulted by her words too, as she had said worse.
But I was blinded by rage and the strength coursing through my veins right now.
"Why are you holding back then?" I chuckled. "Your lap dog is badly injured and Hera is nothing but a willy."
"You..." I pointed at her, anc my eyes dimmed as I closed in on her. "I want to fight you..."
"What?" She gasped, and instantly started to step away. "Are...are you crazy?"
"No..." I shook my head but then stopped, "Maybe after months of your brutal bullying, I have come to copy your ways, Aria..."
"Are you scared of me now?"
"Scared? Of course not! I can get anyone to beat you up."
"Then why are you running away?" My lips curled and twitched at the same time. Different emotions I couldn’t handle were churning inside me and I wanted to unleash them on her.
"This bitch is crazy..." She muttered, and quickly she grabbed Hera and pushed her before me. "Stop her! She dare not lay her hands on me!"
The fear in her voice was thrilling and Hera stood before me with a brave front and ready to protect her ’mistress’ but the next second, I saw her face twitch as her hands quivered.
"Aria..." She called, clutching her mistress who was behind her. "Her...her eyes."
I tilted my head as I was completely confused about what was happening. But I didn’t wait any longer, as I pushed Hera out of the way.
Bang!
Her body flew a few feet away, shocking the rest of the class and they shot up to their feet. I rushed, my hands reaching out to Aria and in the blink of an eye, my fingers curled around her neck.
"You bitch!" I yelled in her face. "I want to fucking claw out your face and destroy that beauty you think you have."
"You think you are a fucking queen, huh? You are just a bitch who preys on the weak and nothing else."
"Please..." Her eyes blinked as her face turned crimson red. "I can’t breathe."
She looked like hell but then I laughed, "You remember when you dipped my head in the toilet bowl?"
"I begged you. I told you I couldn’t breathe..."
The flash of memories was scary and I couldn’t imagine how I hated myself and the world at that moment. My eyes clouded with tears but it fueled my rage even more.
"You have done worse to me and yet, you beg me?"
"Please..."
I was determined to strangle her to death and there was nothing that could stop me.
However, we heard footsteps and my name, "Davina!"
"You have crossed the line!"
My head whipped to the side as two men walked in and they were incredibly familiar. I recalled the detention room where I was taken to just yesterday.
I instantly knew I was doomed, but then I couldn’t let them get me.
I let go of Aria in the blink of an eye, and I was overwhelmed by something else. Rebellion. Just like the brothers had done. I moved, stretching my hands toward them to take me away.
They seethed, "You must learn your place—"
But the next second, I moved, dashing to take my backpack. I dashed past the men rushing out of the door.
I didn’t take a single glance back and all that was on my mind was to escape as I had never had this much strength coursing through me.
"Catch her!" The men rushed after me, and their voices resonated through the whole school prompting the students out of their classes.
This was a show! A spectacle I never thought I would live in and if they caught me, I guessed I would be the real show.
A bloody one.
