Chapter 44: Yes. Kill Them

Chapter 44: Yes. Kill Them

DAVINA

The last thing I heard was my mates rushing toward me, after suppressing the full moon effects, the heat that ignited in them.

Their eyes spoke volumes of their worries, as Shawn pulled me into his embrace, Ethan pacing around and Uriel checking my pulse.

Their faces, their voices slowly slipped out of my mind, as I was losing myself.

But something else, was taking over—this craziness, lethality, and longing for blood.

"Seraphine?" I felt her again, the surge of her power just like the time she had pulled me into the river.

She was really real, and inside me. But now, it felt like she was fighting to pull out, fighting against my soul, and the next second, I clutched my chest, feeling a searing pain.

My body crawled on the forest floor, thrashing against the holds pulling me back. However, they were too strong.

"Let me go!" I growled, as my eyes flashed to the three figures behind me. The transformation continued to take place, with the pain spreading to every inch of my body.

My claws dug into the dirt forest floor, as I stood on all fours, teeth bared while I panted. This was me, but also Seraphine, the blood wolf.

But all I could see was the moon, with the red streaks like blood that lined it, pointing in a direction I couldn’t comprehend.

However, I followed. Something was calling out to me. Something I couldn’t resist, like I was tied to it.

Suddenly, bang!

Three wolves stood in my way, eyes like the darkest night sky, ferocious and prowling toward me.

"Who are they?" Seraphine asked.

"I don’t know. Threats?" I shrugged.

"Should I kill them?"

I stopped for a moment, but my hesitation didn’t last more than a second, as I didn’t mind. They were standing in my way of getting what I wanted.

"Yes. Kill them."

As soon as my words dropped, Seraphine bared her sharp teeth and howled right into the dark forest. The sky seemed to turn darker, birds that had been chirping flew away from their nests and the forest was in a standstill.

And three wolves before me, their eyes flashed with shock and fear I could sense. The fear that slithered up into Seraphine’s mind, pumping her up and she charged toward them.

Their attack was useless, as my wolf swiped her claws across their furry bodies. She was fast, faster than any living thing that had crossed the lands.

Blood lay in our path, as we pranced, with deep growls away from the ruins behind us.

"Nothing can stop us now..." I smirked, eyes shining with malice, and seeing the world through Seraphine’s eyes was magical, as power surged within my veins as if the earth was beneath me.

And we picked up the pace, charging into the square where the pack members had gathered.

Everyone was in the way, blocking the path to the very thing I wanted and longed for. My teeth bared and with a menacing growl from deep within me as I lunged at someone blocking my path.

Blood spewed, flesh cutting from bones and the cracking sounds of bones echoed through the open sky.

"There is a crazy wolf..." A scream erupted. "A crazy wolf covered in blood."

The square turned into a disarray, pack members growling back at me while children were being taken out quickly.

However, they didn’t stop me. Every single person in my way had their bodies sprawled on the floor, gasping for breath as blood spilled uncontrollably from their open wounds.

But it wasn’t enough. It was never enough. I liked the sight and the smell of being bathed in warm blood made my wolf charge deeper into the square.

"Everyone, step away!"

Orders were given, alarms raised and a road path was clear. I didn’t hesitate, as I continued in the direction of the moon, wanting to go to where it was leading me desperately.

But suddenly...swish!

A shot from behind, hitting Seraphine’s rear. Her limbs seemed to freeze in a split second, and her eyes went blurry.

"Everyone, at ease!"

The guards had surrounded me in an instant, their guns still pointed at me.

"Tell the Alpha the rogue has been captured."

"Rogue? Me? How dare they?!" Seraphine burst out, almost going crazy from the burning fury inside us we couldn’t let out.

We were frozen in place, like time had stopped for us and her body slowly sank to the floor, leaving the guards to take us.

___

Hours later...

"Is she awake?"

I heard a voice, familiar yet completely distant. But it seemed to rile me up, goosebumps lined my skin but not for fear, but the intense killing intent that surged through me.

Footsteps echoed, and I desperately wanted to see who it was and why I was here. That thing I longed for, was right here too.

I could sense it, sense the energy it gave off. I wanted it in the palm of my hands. But I couldn’t open my ears, all I could do was hear and feel.

"When is she going to get up? She has a lot to make up for." The same voice bounced off the walls, but there was impatience slithering within.

"Not yet." Another voice echoed.

"What do you mean not yet? I thought she would be ready to use? You made it seem like it’s all under control."

"Yes, it is. But it’s not complete yet. It’s been hours and your sons have not come after her. We need their bonds to complete what we want."

"Sons?" I was confused, but I continued to listen in. Their argument slowly escalated as another person walked in.

The footsteps were hurried, with a shaky voice and low sobs that seemed to bear deep pain.

"How is she? How is my daughter?"

"You can’t see her now. She has to rest." That damned voice echoed again, stopping the new person. "For now, continue to prepare for our marriage. We need a big celebration."

"Is that so?" The new person slowly relented, as she pleaded for her ’daughter’ to be well taken care of.

But then, I wondered, who was the daughter? It couldn’t be me, right? I never would have conformed myself to such lowly beings, right?

As the distraught mother walked away, the conversation continued, "What do we do now? What if those brats don’t get here soon?"

"Time is running out for us, Seer."

The supposed Seer went quiet, but then crouched beside me. Her cold hands, touched my chin sending chills down my body.

I wanted to snap at her and bite off her hands but I was a frozen statue.

"If they don’t appear by midnight, we can make do with her. The Blood Wolf is powerful enough to do what we want anyway."

"But there is a disadvantage."

"What?"

I held my breath, awaiting the answer too, knowing the blood wolf was Seraphine.
