Chapter 245 Wary and Unfamiliar

His words, seemingly inadvertently, revealed that he knew where Zhou Yang lived. If the other party didn't truly know Zhou Yang, they would likely be wary, considering his "close relationship" with Zhou Yang.

If the other party did know Zhou Yang, then with the conversation reaching this point, they couldn't continue to insist on Zhou Yang coming to apologize.

Shen Yuanshu listened to An An and found his innocent smile even more intriguing.

This child was interesting and highly guarded.

And he felt an unusual sense of familiarity.

After talking for so long, he hadn't revealed any of his own information, yet he kept wanting to prove his relationship with Zhou Yang.

Shen Yuanshu immediately retracted his thoughts.

His gaze shifted to the small head peeking out from behind An An, his eyes smiling even more kindly. "You aren't classmates with Zhou Yang, are you?"

He said this directly, as the two children looked to be of kindergarten age.

An An silently contemplated for a moment, about to speak, when Ruan Ruan, without thinking, blurted out.

"No," she said, also smiling cutely at Shen Yuanshu. This uncle had nice eyes too, Ruan Ruan thought, nodding in approval.

"What school are you from?"

"Ren De School," Ruan Ruan answered exceptionally quickly, showing no caution at all.

An An felt extremely exasperated. He glanced back at Ruan Ruan.

Ruan Ruan smiled brightly and, closing her mouth, smiled at him.

Just then, a waitress walked by. An An quickly reached out and grabbed her hem.

"Auntie, we're lost. Can you take us outside? Mommy and Daddy are waiting for us outside."

The waitress readily agreed and led the two children out. Shen Yuanshu watched An An's retreating back, a thought planting itself in his mind.

Meanwhile, An An lectured Ruan Ruan all the way. While lecturing her, he kept an eye behind them, confirming that the stranger uncle wasn't following, before confidently returning to the private room.

"Remember? When a stranger asks questions, you don't speak. I'll handle it," An An said. Ruan Ruan just blinked and smiled at him, so he had no choice but to take charge.

"Got it!" Ruan Ruan responded exceptionally quickly.

She didn't want to distinguish between good people and bad people; following her An An Gege was enough.

After playing for a while longer, the parents started arriving to pick up their children.

An An got into the car and told them about the strange uncle he had encountered.

"He was very strange, especially when he looked at me," An An couldn't describe the specific details, but he just felt it was very odd.

Perhaps it was inherited from Qin Ningyi's mind-reading trait, but he was very sensitive to Shen Yuanshu's momentary shock and probing.

Qin Ningyi had seen Zhou Qin socializing with Boss Yang. He thought for a moment and described Boss Yang's appearance.

An An shook his head. "No, that uncle was young and wearing a mask. Daddy, the person you're talking about is the uncle who was with Teacher Zhou Qin."

Qin Ningyi took this matter to heart. He understood such intuition.

He had it too, which was why he was naturally sensitive.

If An An had this feeling, that person, eight times out of ten, harbored ill intentions.

Huo Rou directly accessed the restaurant's surveillance footage.

Near the restroom, the surveillance was set up a bit further away to protect customer privacy, making it impossible to see the scene where the man spoke to An An.

Huo Rou extracted the footage from that time period and showed it to An An.

"Which one is it?" The height of their concern put An An at ease.

He pointed at the screen, at Shen Yuanshu walking in leisurely with his hands in his pockets. "It's this person."

Huo Rou looked at the narrow, slanted eyes revealed by the mask. The man's expression carried a hint of world-weariness. These eyes were somewhat unfamiliar.

An An reached out and touched Huo Rou's forehead. "Mommy, don't frown. Maybe An An was mistaken."

He was already very happy. His parents listened to his words and investigated and took precautions based on his baseless feeling.

Among his friends, very few received such treatment.

Qin Ningyi glanced at An An in the rearview mirror, smoothing Huo Rou's brow, and felt a pang of emotion. "An An."

"What is it, Daddy?" An An turned to look at Qin Ningyi.

"Let your mommy rest properly. We'll talk about it when we get back."

An An, the little warm boy, was naturally obedient when it came to his mother. He immediately sat up straight, took out his book from his bag, and began to read. "Mommy, you've been working so hard lately. Hurry and rest. We'll wake you when we get there."

Huo Rou was indeed very tired. She turned her head, and within seconds, fell asleep again.

An An and Qin Ningyi listened to Huo Rou's steady breathing, both surprised.

Her ability to fall asleep and the depth of her sleep had changed drastically compared to before.

An An scrolled through his phone, his nose wrinkling. "Uncle Shen is on another business trip? I clearly smelled disinfectant on Mommy yesterday. I thought Uncle Shen was back and wanted him to take a look at Mommy..."

"Shen Wuyou is on a business trip?"

What Shen Wuyou had said to him in the hospital that day was still vivid. He didn't really want to bring up this person, but there were too many things that felt wrong to him.

The medicine he later left for Huo Rou, he had seen her take it, claiming it was for replenishing Qi and blood.

However, Huo Rou's energy hadn't improved; instead, it had worsened.

"Daddy, how about we take Mommy to see a doctor?" An An's small face furrowed with worry. Mommy used to get sleepy often, but never this tired!

And Uncle Shen wasn't around.

"Yes, I've already made arrangements. Someone will come to the house tomorrow for a check-up." Qin Ningyi was also worried, even though Huo Rou always said she was fine.

His own intuition wouldn't be wrong.

"Can we invite Uncle Shen's brother? I heard Big Uncle Shen is also very skilled." An An had great trust in the Shen family's medical skills.

Qin Ningyi had considered it, but the problem lay with the medicine Shen Wuyou had given. He couldn't rashly invite someone from the Shen family, so he ended up indirectly inviting another equally renowned national expert.

"Let's see tomorrow. It might just be overwork..." He comforted An An's emotions, but felt a subtle unease in his heart.

An An nodded.

Qin Ningyi instructed, "Don't tell your mommy. She doesn't want to see a doctor, so I invited them secretly."

An An covered his mouth, indicating he wouldn't spill the beans.

"Mommy still doesn't want to see a doctor." An An sighed.

"Daddy, tomorrow we need to cooperate well. Why don't you also find a Chinese medicine practitioner, so that you can take her pulse while Mommy is still asleep..." An An offered suggestions, tirelessly trying to help Huo Rou accept a doctor's examination.

"Okay." Qin Ningyi greatly respected An An's ideas and immediately made arrangements.

After Huo Rou woke up, neither of them revealed anything about it.
