Chapter 569 Obsession, or Resentment

The fierce fight lasted for a full half hour.

Those behind her fell one after another, their blood filling the air, as if to engulf the entire imperial palace.

With another sword piercing an enemy's chest, Feng Yinwan, exhausted, leaned on her sword with one hand, kneeling on the ground, panting softly.

The few remaining individuals by her side gathered around, forming a protective barrier around her.

Feng Yinwan slightly calmed her breath and stood up, only to see the formation had silently parted, and at the end of the path, the Emperor of Yue, accompanied by Lingxiang and Yu Che, was walking towards them.

Her beautiful eyes darkened for a moment. Feng Yinwan tightened her grip on her sword again, only to see the Emperor of Yue look up at her, his gaze appraising.

"Is this the sincere cooperation you spoke of with me?"

Feng Yinwan glanced at him coldly, her voice sharp, "Your Majesty should ask yourself if you have been deceitful before saying such words."

If it weren't for Feng Jinchan, why would she bother to deal with her?

Upon hearing this, the Emperor of Yue let out a cold snort, showing no trace of shame.

"You are right, that child is indeed not in the palace. However, Feng Yinwan, at least I have a way to break that forbidden curse. Cooperating with me, you are not at a disadvantage."

"Is that so? Then Your Majesty might be mistaken."

That method was important, but it wasn't indispensable. Moreover, it concerned transmigration, who could guarantee that the method would be effective?

The moonlight at the fourth watch was already dim. A smudge of blood stained her cheek, a sight that made one's heart tremble.

The Emperor of Yue's face flickered with indecision. After staring at her for a while, he spoke grimly, "Don't worry, I won't kill you before Ye Tinglan arrives. Oh, and your good uncle too. I don't believe he would watch you stay alone in the palace without intervening."

As he finished speaking, she flicked her sleeve and turned away, sharply ordering the four men, "Capture her alive and send her back to prison. Kill the rest without mercy!"

The surrounding formation tightened again. Feng Yinwan stared at the retreating back of the Emperor of Yue, her sword clenching once more.

Survival was not granted, but death was easy.

Her life was in her own hands. If the Emperor of Yue wanted to use her to threaten Luo Qingyi and Ye Tinglan, she would never let her succeed.

The wind rose, the moon hid, the soldiers moved.

Endless armor and sharp blades attacked in waves. Feng Yinwan swung her sword, but a rapid sound of horse hooves reached her ears.

She subconsciously looked up and saw a figure leap out of the darkness, soaring through the air several times before landing directly beside her.

It was Qi Xuan.

"I told you to take Chenchen back to Jingguo. Why are you still..."

"Wangfei, please forgive me. My subordinates have already been dispatched to search for the young master. However, my orders were to protect your safety, and I would not leave unless faced with certain death."

His expression was still impassive, but the determination in his eyes was as unwavering as his loyalty to Ye Tinglan.

Feng Yinwan pursed her lips, wanting to speak but hesitating. Suddenly, she heard a second, then a third, and even more horse hooves approaching.

Looking up in surprise, she met Qi Xuan's nod as he spoke, "Wangye anticipated unrest within the territory of Yue and had already ordered the Cold Armor Iron Cavalry to standby at the border, ready to be deployed at any moment."

When he left yesterday, he had gone to dispatch the Cold Armor Iron Cavalry. However, it had taken some time to cross the border, given that they were entering enemy territory.

Fortunately, Feng Yinwan was unharmed, and everything was still within reach.

Frost-white silver armor weaved through the faint night, swift as meteors, and in a blink, they occupied the entire imperial palace.

Before the Emperor of Yue could return to his palace, he was forced to retreat again, his appearance disheveled, mingling with the soldiers.

It wasn't Ye Tinglan who had arrived, but these iron cavalry now seemed even more deadly than Ye Tinglan!

Finally managing to retreat to a safe area, he immediately commanded sternly, "What are you waiting for? Capture that woman for me!"

Last night's disturbance had caused her to deploy all the troops near the capital into the palace. She had never expected this group of iron cavalry to break through the border at this time, and so quickly and silently!

At this point, Feng Yinwan was her only bargaining chip and had to be firmly grasped!

The four men heard the command and immediately joined forces to capture Feng Yinwan. Seeing this, Feng Yinwan exchanged a glance with Qi Xuan, and they each moved to one side, separating to resist.

The iron cavalry were invincible. The soldiers handpicked by the Emperor of Yue were like trampled mud before them, on the verge of collapse before they could even put up a fight.

Seeing the situation becoming increasingly unfavorable, and that the four men, with Qi Xuan's assistance, could not be subdued for the moment, the Emperor of Yue turned to Yu Che beside him and spoke impatiently.

"Didn't you plant a soul蛊 in her? Why aren't you using it now?!"

That soul蛊 could control Feng Yinwan. They feared her breaking free from their control, so they had made preparations long ago.

Yu Che's face froze for a moment, and he explained, "The soul蛊 takes three days to take effect after being planted. The time has not yet come."

"I don't care if it's three days or ten days. If you don't want to die here, find a way to subdue her immediately, otherwise, we will all perish here today!"

Those iron cavalry were not to be trifled with!

Yu Che fell silent, his eyes slightly lowered. He began to chant certain incantations.

The ancient, low chant pierced through the clamor and reached her ears. Feng Yinwan did not understand its meaning, but her body suddenly lost control, and she fell straight from a height.

Seeing this, the Emperor of Yue exclaimed excitedly, "Quickly, capture her!"

The four men abandoned Qi Xuan and rushed down together. Just as they were about to succeed, the force within her that was pulling her suddenly broke, and Feng Yinwan instantly regained consciousness.

Gritting her teeth, she used all her strength to brace her sword on the ground, and her body instantly sprang upwards, narrowly evading the encircpple of the four men.

Qi Xuan, close behind, caught her as she rose and retreated, landing back on the ground.

"Useless!"

The Emperor of Yue roared in anger. He snatched a saber from a nearby guard and hurled it at Feng Yinwan.

Feng Yinwan had just straightened herself when the saber, attacking from the shadows, was kicked away by Qi Xuan's foot just as it reached her, clanging onto the ground.

The surrounding iron cavalry quickly closed in, safely enclosing them within their formation. Qi Xuan, relieved, turned to ask if she was injured, only to see Feng Yinwan frowning, her face contorting in pain again.

"Wangfei?"

He called out urgently, but Feng Yinwan seemed not to have heard him.

A sudden throbbing in her temples, and her skull felt as if it were about to split, the pain unbearable.

She instinctively raised her hand, intending to use her silver needles to seal an acupoint, but her body seemed to disobey, out of her control.

She looked up in helplessness, but as she met that faint, slowly blooming dawn light, everything in her vision began to blur uncontrollably.

Yet, amidst the blur, she glimpsed a remarkably familiar, dark figure.

Is it Ye Tinglan? she wondered.

But he was far away in the capital, how could he be here?

Perhaps what she saw was merely a lingering obsession, or a resentment hidden deep within her heart.

Never mind, obsession or resentment, she just hoped that after taking those pills, his body would recover quickly.
