Feng Yinwan was brought to the imperial palace of the Moon Kingdom.
This was her first time inside the palace since arriving in the Moon Kingdom.
Unlike the strict regulations of the Jing Kingdom's imperial palace, the Moon Kingdom's palace was built with considerable architectural freedom, and even the plants grown were peculiar. Under the cloak of night, a sense of eerie strangeness permeated everywhere.
Upon reaching a certain palace, Lingxiang ordered someone to watch Feng Yinwan outside while she entered to report.
A short while later, the palace doors creaked open a sliver. As if signaled, soldiers immediately escorted her into the hall.
Feng Yinwan walked obediently. The moment she stepped inside, her vision was flooded with a peculiar, scarlet hue.
The grand palace had a unique structure, with walls of a stifling, dark red that made it hard to breathe. Smoke swirled within the hall. She raised her eyes and, at the first glance of the person on the throne, a heavy sense of dread filled her heart.
Feng Yinwan startled, and when she looked again, the figure had approached.
Her chin was then lifted with some force. The Moon Kingdom's emperor's sticky, dark gaze fixed on her face. When he finally spoke, Feng Yinwan finally understood the source of her unease.
The person standing before her was, in fact, a woman!
A person’s appearance could be altered, but their bone structure was harder to disguise. This Moon Kingdom emperor, with his effeminate features, insisted on dressing as a man, which instead made him appear neither male nor female, and extremely peculiar.
The grip on her chin tightened slightly. She heard his voice, languid and seductive, say, "You resemble her, truly very much like your mother."
Feng Yinwan gazed at him with cool indifference, unmoved.
"Your Majesty went to such great lengths to capture me and bring me to the palace, surely not just to say I resemble someone?"
"Naturally."
The Moon Kingdom emperor was not offended, as if he let out a low chuckle. He then said, "I've heard that the sect leaders of the Xuanmen never live past twenty. Since you've inherited your mother's legacy, you must already know this, haven't you?"
Unexpectedly, he intended to discuss such matters with her, Feng Yinwan's heart sank instantly.
This matter was highly confidential. She herself had only recently learned of it from a book left behind by Luo Qingyu. Yet, judging by the Moon Kingdom emperor's words, he knew it more clearly than she did.
She had heard similar words from the Empress before, but at the time, she hadn't thought much of it, assuming the Empress, facing death, was simply uttering curses out of unwillingness.
However, with multiple confirmations, was her return to modern times now inevitable?
Feng Yinwan's heart grew heavier and heavier. The Moon Kingdom emperor, seeing this, appeared even more confident.
"Are you wondering where I heard this? I can tell you the truth. I know more than just this; I also know the method to break this forbidden curse. Would you like to know?"
His fingertips lightly traced Feng Yinwan's chin, his voice low, almost seductive, "Feng Yinwan, I can tell you this method, but I have a small favor to ask of you."
Her tone was exceedingly light, but anything exchanged for such a method of breaking a curse could hardly be considered a small matter.
Feng Yinwan waited silently for her to continue.
The Moon Kingdom emperor's eyes flickered, and then he rose and leisurely released her.
"I've heard that Ye Tinglan is now the Regent. In the Luoyuan battle, he killed so many of my soldiers and ruined my years of planning. I want him to pay a price, don't you think that's reasonable?"
She wanted to use her to threaten Ye Tinglan!
Feng Yinwan's expression turned cold. After a moment, she spoke again.
"Your Majesty has probably found the wrong person. He and I are already strangers. Now that he is the Regent, he would naturally have no further dealings with someone like me from the Xuanmen."
Just a few days ago in the capital, Ye Tinglan had willingly entered the palace for her.
Where had the estrangement come from? Where had the lack of further dealings come from?
The Moon Kingdom emperor knew she was deliberately saying this but did not expose her. Instead, he nodded along with her words and said, "What if he knew that he has a son with you?"
