Qicai Xiao Jinli

Chapter 10 It seems this Prince Consort's perspective was rather narrow

Feng Yinwan and Yuping exchanged a glance, then both headed for the door.

Outside the courtyard gate, Granny Sun’s hoarse voice carried with remarkable clarity.

“Wangfei, this old servant has brought your morning meal!”

Recognizing the voice, Feng Yinwan raised an eyebrow.

Well, a rare visitor.

Her beautiful eyes flickered. She shook her head at Yuping, signaling her not to open the door yet.

Yuping nodded, and the two stood silently behind the door.

After calling for a while with no one emerging, Granny Sun paused, her voice laced with suspicion.

The gate was shut so tightly in broad daylight; were they up to something nefarious?

Thinking this, her eyes darted around, and she crept closer, pressing her eye to the crack in the door.

She was determined to see what this ugly woman was up to!

The courtyard gate was made of solid wood, the gap between the planks extremely narrow. Granny Sun pressed her eye against it with all her might, but before she could get a clear look into the courtyard, a sharp silver glint suddenly thrust towards her.

She yelped, recoiling, her hands instinctively reaching out to steady herself against the gate.

Unexpectedly, the gate, which had been tightly shut, suddenly swung open. Her hands, losing their point of leverage, sent Granny Sun lurching forward.

“Aiyiyi—!”

Seeing her stumbling towards her, Feng Yinwan’s lips curled. She kicked Granny Sun’s calf, changing her trajectory. Granny Sun toppled forward, landing with a heavy thud in the flowerbed by the roadside.

She sprawled awkwardly, one shoe flying off, her clothes snagged by branches. Her face was planted firmly on the ground, rendering her utterly immobile.

Yuping couldn’t help but chuckle, then quickly covered her mouth, only to notice the maids following behind were also stifling laughter.

Even their young lady was laughing the loudest!

“Ouch, what are you all standing around for! Hurry and help me up!”

Granny Sun’s muffled groans came from the ground. The maids then hurried forward.

With combined effort, they pulled her out. Seeing her bruised face and a mouth full of dirt, they nearly burst into laughter.

Feng Yinwan covered her lips, giving Granny Sun a cool, indifferent glance. “What, Granny Sun, are you particularly fond of this Wangfei’s flowerbed? It happens to be overgrown with weeds and has been neglected for quite some time. In this Wangfei’s opinion, why don’t you do the work yourself?”

This was less an inquiry and more a command!

Granny Sun’s aged face turned green, so profoundly so that even the mud couldn't hide it.

Gritting her teeth, she nodded. “As Wangfei commands.”

Feng Yinwan nodded with satisfaction. “Good.”

She then glanced at the maids behind Granny Sun and continued, “May I ask why Granny Sun has suddenly come to this Wangfei’s courtyard?”

As if just remembering the matter at hand, Granny Sun hastily wiped some dirt from her face and said with a simpering smile, “Knowing that Wangfei has been indisposed these past few days, this old servant has specifically come to bring you food!”

She gestured, and a maid behind her quickly presented a food container.

Feng Yinwan raised an eyebrow, not believing her intentions to be so benevolent.

“If my memory serves me correctly, this Wangfei struck you recently over the food. Does Granny Sun bear no resentment in her heart?”

Granny Sun forced a wry smile. “Oh, how could that be! Previously, this old servant misunderstood Wangfei, which led to that incident. Since the Prince did not speak of it, this old servant should naturally behave herself and diligently serve the masters!”

“Wangfei, please look. This morning meal was meticulously prepared by the kitchen under my instruction. It looks both nutritious and appetizing!”

She said this and lifted the lid of the food container, revealing indeed some exquisite and delicious dishes.

Yuping stepped forward to inspect. Seeing nothing amiss, she nodded at Feng Yinwan.

Feng Yinwan smiled faintly and nodded. “It seems this Wangfei has been too narrow-minded. Thank you for Granny Sun’s kindness. Yuping, accept it.”

“Yes.”

Upon hearing this, Granny Sun’s smile stretched almost to her ears. “Ah, good! Then please enjoy, Wangfei. This old servant will not disturb you any further!”

With that, she led her entourage away with swagger. Feng Yinwan snorted coldly and turned back into the room.

“Miss, do you wish to dine now?”

Yuping followed in, carrying the food container, and placed the dishes on the table one by one.

Feng Yinwan walked over, picked up a piece with her silver chopsticks, brought it to her nose, and then laughingly tossed it aside.

It was indeed laced with a laxative.

Her beautiful eyes flickered. She then said, “Yuping, this dish is a bit greasy. Go ask the guards if they can procure some sweet broth.”

Yuping nodded. “Yes.”

She acknowledged and went out. Feng Yinwan’s lips curved, and she raised her hand to touch her bracelet.

“My treasure, are you there?”
