Chapter 946 No One Had Ever Broken a Promise to Her

Yun Bujiao didn't say much, patted his shoulder, and left. He drove to the apartment complex where Mianmian lived. He couldn't even get past the gate of such a high-end complex without a resident to escort him.

He parked the car outside the wall, took a few steps back, ran, and leaped over the wall. Yun Bujiao arrived downstairs Mianmian's building and looked up at the roof. He knew which was her room, the one on the top floor. The last time she went back, he had been watching, and the light in that room turned on after she went up.

Her home was a duplex on the top floor, complete with a garden.

Yun Bujiao once again saw the difference between them. He took out his phone and saw her number. He dialed it.

Mianmian was reciting a book when she saw the incoming call. She immediately wanted to answer, but hesitated for a moment before pressing the button, putting her phone aside and letting it ring.

Hmph, he stood her up and now he's calling?

But, did he really have something urgent? Mianmian thought she could ask, instead of getting angry here by herself.

So, one second before the call ended, Mianmian picked up.

"Jiang Mianmian, go wait at your building's elevator entrance," Yun Bujiao said.

Jiang Mianmian, "?"

"Huh?"

"Hurry up!" Yun Bujiao urged her.

Jiang Mianmian immediately got up, walked out of the room, went downstairs, out the door, and to the elevator. She curiously looked down from the window, seeing nothing below.

She returned to the elevator and watched the red numbers on the elevator display jump up one by one until they reached her floor. Her heart pounded a little faster, thinking, 'Is Yun Bujiao really coming up?'

The elevator doors dinged open. Mianmian looked inside and saw the pink bear he had bought, so cute and beautiful!

Mianmian quickly got into the elevator and hugged the bear. Just as she was about to get out, the doors closed and the elevator began to descend automatically, presumably because someone else had pressed the button.

Finally, Mianmian, in her pajamas, holding the bear, with her hair dishevelled, arrived on the first floor.

Yun Bujiao hadn't left yet. He looked at her with some surprise, then couldn't help but laugh.

"What are you laughing at, what's so funny!" Mianmian glared at him fiercely, but in her pink pajamas, holding a pink bear, she lacked any real authority.

Yun Bujiao reached out and pulled her, leading her out of the apartment. He pulled her to a small park across the street and found a more secluded spot before stopping.

"No wonder you like these girly pink things, turns out you're the same kind," Yun Bujiao said with a smile, bending down to look at her.

"You're annoying! You stood me up today, and I'm not going to forgive you! Even with a gift, it won't work!" Mianmian said fiercely, hugging the bear.

Since she was little, no one had ever stood her up.

"Then, to atone for my sin, how about I take you out for a whole week?" Yun Bujiao coaxed her.

"Even if you have time, I don't! Tell me, what was so important tonight?" Mianmian wasn't an unreasonable girl. She gave him a chance to explain.

"Zhou Hao's grandfather was hit by a car. He was so distraught and alone that I went to help. In my haste, I forgot about our plans," Yun Bujiao explained.

Mianmian knew who Zhou Hao was. She could see he was good friends with that guy. So, it was because of this. Mianmian asked anxiously, "How is his grandfather now? Has the surgery finished? My Uncle Jin is an authority expert, should I ask him to take a look?"

Yun Bujiao looked at her worried expression and found her incredibly cute. He reached out and ruffled her washed hair. "No need, young lady. The surgery is done, the doctors say his condition is optimistic. He just broke his leg and needs some time to recover."

"That's good. But elderly people should be more careful when accidents happen," Mianmian cautioned him.
