The door was not difficult to open at all; it was just a normal lock. Inside, the room was empty except for a row of cabinets.
"Hurry and look, see if you can find the medicine you're looking for," Hui Hui said after closing the door, and then started rummaging through drawers.
He secretly grumbled about his great-grandfather, where were the monsters supposed to be? This was clearly just an ordinary room.
Ye Wan also began searching quickly. There wasn't much inside, and most of it seemed useless.
The two, one big and one small, had turned the room upside down but couldn't find a single pill. All they found were gold, silver, and jade objects.
Ye Wan grew anxious. "Are you sure you remembered correctly? Could it be somewhere else?"
"No, it's definitely here!" Hui Hui frowned as well.
"But we've looked everywhere, there's no medicine!" Ye Wan was on the verge of tears. If she lost this gamble, it would be Gu Yun Ting's life on the line. She couldn't afford to lose.
Hui Hui also became anxious. Seeing her about to cry, he scratched his head in distress. "Don't cry yet, let me think again!"
"Is there anywhere else?" Ye Wan looked around frantically, afraid Hui Hui might have forgotten something.
"No, really no more. It's definitely here." Hui Hui anxiously helped her search. His gaze fell upon the lamp on the ceiling.
"Ye Wan, Ye Wan, look at the lamp, is there something inside?" Hui Hui pointed to the lampshade above them. A dark spot inside looked like an object.
Ye Wan looked up. She immediately went to fetch a ladder. Whether it was there or not, she had to check.
"Be careful, don't fall," Hui Hui quickly helped her move the ladder. After placing it, he helped steady it. He wouldn't climb himself; he was a bit afraid of heights.
Ye Wan climbed the ladder and carefully removed the lampshade. It was full of dust, and both of them couldn't help but cough. Inside, a small box was indeed hidden.
"We found it, it's really here." Ye Wan was overjoyed. She immediately started climbing down.
Hui Hui helped her down. Ye Wan, disregarding the dust inside, took out the small box. She quickly opened it, and when she saw what was inside, she was so excited she almost cried. It was indeed a pill.
"Is this the one you were looking for? Make sure you don't get the wrong one, it'll be troublesome if you poison someone again," Hui Hui looked at her with some concern, afraid Ye Wan was too anxious and had picked the wrong medicine.
Though he was a child, he knew that medicine shouldn't be taken carelessly.
"Don't worry, I'll have my friend confirm if it's the antidote first. Hui Hui, thank you for this." Ye Wan carefully closed and put away the medicine.
"It's nothing, I'm happy I could help you," Hui Hui said, waving his hand.
Ye Wan's expression froze. She asked worriedly, "Are you really okay if I take this? Will you be beaten?"
Although the item was hidden in a peculiar place, didn't that suggest its preciousness? What if someone found out later that Hui Hui helped her steal it? Would he be punished? Or would something happen to him because of her?
"No, no. My great-grandfather is a very, very good person. He knows this medicine is to save someone, so he'll definitely be willing to let you take it! I swear!" Hui Hui said solemnly, wanting to ease Ye Wan's burden.
Ye Wan was truly touched to tears. "Hui Hui, thank you."
"Silly, we're good friends, aren't we? Friends should help each other," Hui Hui said.
Ye Wan nodded. "From now on, if you ever need my help, I will do my best to assist you!"
