At that moment, a colossal beast lunged at her, startling Ye Wan so much her soul nearly fled her body.
"Ju Zuo, stop!" Gu Yunting commanded coldly, halting the tiger's rampage.
The giant tiger's claws froze mid-air. It abruptly turned and lay down by the door, looking at its familiar master with a piteous expression, wagging its tail vigorously, as if missing her.
Only then did Ye Wan get a clear look at the behemoth. Good heavens, Xiao Ju Zi had grown into a giant. It must have been at least two meters tall when standing. It was evident it had been well-fed and cared for all these years.
The large orange cat clearly still recognized her. The way it looked at her was incredibly wronged, as if she were a scumbag who abandoned her family.
But Ye Wan was truly terrified of Gu Yunting and wanted nothing to do with him. So, she pretended not to know the tiger.
"Are you a pervert, keeping a tiger? You and your master are both insane!" Ye Wan cursed and walked away.
The big Ju Zuo was scolded and almost cried from being wronged. Its master truly didn't love it anymore. It had waited for her for so many years, and now that she had finally returned, she didn't like it anymore.
Clearly, she used to love hugging it, but now she wouldn't let it hug her.
The big Ju Zuo, utterly dejected, lay on the ground motionless, its chin on the floor, looking utterly crestfallen.
Ye Wan felt a pang of sympathy seeing it like that before going downstairs, but to sever all ties with Gu Yunting, she steeled her heart and went down.
Upon reaching the downstairs hall, Ye Wan saw Sun Ma, whom she hadn't seen in years. Sun Ma had aged considerably, with many white hairs. Although plump before, she always dressed meticulously, dyeing her hair black to appear youthful. But now, she truly looked old.
Ye Wan almost burst into tears upon seeing her. She desperately held them back. Sun Ma's eyes lit up upon seeing her, but after opening her mouth, she ultimately did not acknowledge her.
Gu Yunting, who had followed her downstairs, witnessed this scene. He said, "Sun Ma, is dinner ready?"
"Young Master, dinner is prepared. Please be seated with this guest," Sun Ma replied respectfully, bowing her head.
"I won't be eating, thank you for the offer," Ye Wan said, fighting back tears. She lowered her head, preparing to leave.
"Miss!" Sun Ma called out to Ye Wan, her voice audibly trembling. "Please stay for a meal."
Stay for a meal before you leave, Xiao Wan.
Ye Wan's tears finally fell. She quickly wiped them away with her hand and said, "Thank you then."
Ye Wan quickly entered the dining room.
Gu Yunting followed her in, his gaze fixed on her as if trying to bore a hole through her.
"Try these fried vegetable balls, they are... very delicious!" Sun Ma started to say they were her favorite from before, but swallowed the words.
She didn't know what had happened between Ye Wan and the Young Master, but her heart was with Ye Wan. She couldn't cause Ye Wan any trouble.
Ye Wan smiled, picked up a ball, and took a bite. The taste was exactly the same as before, her favorite flavor.
"They are indeed delicious, thank you," Ye Wan dared not look at Sun Ma, afraid she would break down crying.
"Divorce immediately!" Gu Yunting suddenly said.
Ye Wan was taken aback. She glanced at him, unsure what he was talking about, until he added, "Go back and divorce your husband immediately!"
Only then did Ye Wan realize he was referring to her earlier statement about being married, and he wanted her to divorce.
