Chapter 681 The Vixen

"Grandpa! What do you mean by that? Who is she? I almost died, and you didn't say a word of concern, only blamed me. I'm your own granddaughter. Am I not even as important as an outsider?" Yan Hui cried out in anger.

"You truly are my good granddaughter. Not only can you not distinguish right from wrong, but you're now shouting at your elder. You're a disgrace!" Old Master Yan's face was grim, appearing both majestic and terrifying.

Yan Hui flinched, startled, but the thought of her near-death experience, coupled with her grandfather's lack of comfort and instead, his accusations, made her feel especially wronged. Tears streamed down her face.

Yan Jiayi was also frightened. Having grown up in the slums, she had never encountered such an imposing figure as her grandfather. His stern demeanor instinctively instilled fear in her.

"If you continue to be so disrespectful, then get out of the Yan family!" Old Master Yan's intention was clear: to expel Yan Hui from the Yan family meant she would revert to her father's surname, and she would no longer be allowed to use the Yan surname!

Yan Hui's already pale face turned even more ashen. She trembled uncontrollably and quickly pleaded, "Grandpa, I know I was wrong. Please don't make me change my surname. I promise to improve, to respect elders and cherish juniors. I vow to abide by the Yan family's teachings. Please give me one more chance."

Yan Hui was terrified. She couldn't be cast out of the Yan family. If she were, she would become a laughingstock for everyone.

"I watched you grow up. This is the last chance I'm giving you. I hope you'll cherish it and act wisely." Old Master Yan flicked his sleeve and left the hospital room.

Yan Hui was clearly shaken. She sat on the hospital bed, forgetting to cry. She never expected her grandfather to be so furious with her. While she remembered him as a stern person, he rarely lost his temper and was generally caring towards his juniors, often giving them generous allowances and lucky money every year.

"Cousin, don't be sad. Grandpa is probably just in a bad mood. I think he's been brainwashed by Ye Wan. It seems we won't have an easy time ahead. We must not provoke Ye Wan again. Grandpa will truly kick us out," Yan Jiayi said.

Yan Hui, who had been deathly afraid, had never imagined that her grandfather would threaten to cast her out because of an outsider. She had always been the most doted upon in the Yan family.

"Why? Who does Ye Wan think she is? How dare she compare herself to me? Grandpa is simply infatuated with her. That wretched woman has a face that could bewitch anyone!" Hearing Yan Jiayi's words, Yan Hui became even angrier.

"I also think Ye Wan's face is too seductive. Grandpa is so old, yet he can still be swayed by her. It's possible that all the family fortune will be swindled away by Ye Wan. And who knows how smug she must be right now," Yan Jiayi deliberately fanned the flames.

"She wishes! The more Grandpa protects her, the more I will teach her a lesson! Such a vixen should have been beaten to death long ago, to stop her from spreading her harm!"

Yan Jiayi secretly smiled. She couldn't deal with Ye Wan herself; she feared Gu Yunting would be displeased. Fortunately, Yan Hui, this foolish girl, was willing to be her pawn!

...

Ye Wan insisted on being discharged. Due to her health, her work was temporarily suspended until she recovered. Qi Fan called to inquire about her condition. Ye Wan merely said she was unwell and needed rest, and would return in a few days.

Qi Fan told her to rest well and not to rush back, emphasizing the importance of her health.
