Ye Wan followed everyone inside to pick up the person.
After picking them up, they were taken to a pre-booked hotel. By the time everything was arranged, it was already late at night. Everyone went home, with instructions to meet at the hotel again at seven in the morning.
Ye Wan walked out of the hotel with her colleagues, preparing to hail a taxi. Just then, she saw Gu Yunting about to enter the hotel, surrounded by many bodyguards, his imposing presence drawing everyone's attention.
Gu Yunting saw Ye Wan, and his steps faltered. Ye Wan's first instinct was to quickly turn away, pretending not to know him. These were all her new colleagues, and if they found out about her relationship with Gu Yunting, she couldn't imagine the rumors that would spread.
Right now, all she wanted was to complete her internship discreetly and go home to have her baby.
Her colleagues were startled when they saw Gu Yunting look their way. They quickly turned back, pretending to wait for a taxi. It was a bit awkward to be caught sneaking a glance, but who wouldn't look twice at such a grand entourage?
Seeing that Ye Wan dared not look at him, Gu Yunting went into the hotel. Ye Wan felt a little annoyed; sleeping in a hotel late at night instead of staying home?
A car arrived, and her colleagues got in. Ye Wan said, "My home isn't on your way. I'll take a taxi back by myself."
Seeing this, her colleagues didn't insist and left. Ye Wan turned and walked back towards the hotel to find Gu Yunting.
However, when Ye Wan entered the hotel lobby, Gu Yunting was nowhere to be seen, not even a bodyguard was left behind.
She had to ask the hotel staff, but they refused to tell her, citing guest privacy.
Just as Ye Wan was about to call Gu Yunting, she saw a woman she hadn't seen in a long time, Hua Rong, walk in from outside.
"Miss Ye, what a coincidence," Hua Rong said as she entered. She looked unwell, her heavy foundation unable to hide her haggard appearance.
"Miss Hua, hello." Ye Wan greeted her politely and continued waiting for Gu Yunting's call to connect.
"Are you calling Ting? He might not be able to answer you right now. He's with Miss Yan today," Hua Rong said.
"Is that so? Then I must call and congratulate him."
If it were in the past, Ye Wan might have been angry or upset. But today, after hearing what Jin Lan had told her about Gu Yunting's actions, she felt only concern for him. She believed he must have had his reasons for what he did.
"Miss Ye is quite carefree. Ting is about to get married, and you're still keeping in touch with him. Isn't that inappropriate? We're both women, and aren't you being unfair to Miss Yan?" Hua Rong said, standing there and looking down at her.
The call didn't connect, so Ye Wan put down her phone and looked at Hua Rong with a half-smile. "Whether it's appropriate or not, Miss Hua should know better than I do. What are you up to? Do you really think everyone else is foolish? However, I trust Gu Yunting's judgment. He wouldn't be interested in a scheming woman like you! Miss Hua, you seem to have something on your mind lately. Even with so much foundation, you still look weary. You should take care of yourself more and mind your own business. Perhaps then you'll age a little slower."
Hua Rong's face turned even uglier after being taunted by Ye Wan. "You're quite sharp-tongued. What's the use of a pretty vase like you who's all looks and no substance? You won't even know how you'll die in the future! Take care of yourself!"
Ye Wan was truly exasperated with this woman. Her good mood had been completely ruined by her.
