"Are you doubting my abilities? I can stay with you twenty-four hours a day if you want!" Gu Yunting's grip on her waist tightened.
Ye Wan shook her head in alarm, "I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare. Of course I know your capabilities. You're just letting me off because you care about me!"
"That's more like it." Gu Yunting cupped the back of her head and pulled her into a deep, lingering kiss.
Ye Wan felt like she was about to suffocate, yet her heart was filled with sweetness.
A commotion erupted outside. Gu Yunting frowned in displeasure. Ye Wan sat up and looked towards the door, then back at him, "What's going on?"
"Sit here and don't move. I'll go see." Gu Yunting had no idea what had happened. In all the years since he established Gu Corporation, such a situation had never occurred.
As Gu Yunting emerged, he saw his biological father, Gu Junbo. His expression immediately turned cold, "What are you doing here?"
"A'ting, I want to talk to you." Gu Junbo had no choice but to force his way here. Gu Yunting had cut off all contact with him, leaving him no option but to intercept his son at the company.
"I have nothing to talk about with you. See the guest out!" Gu Yunting said coldly and turned to go back inside.
He turned his head and saw the girl who had followed him out of curiosity. Ye Wan saw Gu Junbo, then looked at Gu Yunting. She recalled Gu Junbo telling her about Gu Yunting's past and knew he was Jun Li Chen's brother.
Perhaps Gu Junbo was here today to tell him this very fact?
Ye Wan looked at Gu Yunting nervously, unsure of how he would react upon learning the truth about his origins. She suddenly felt a pang of sympathy for what he had endured.
She knew very well how important his birth mother, Mrs. Gu, was to him. Even though she hadn't treated him particularly well, he genuinely considered her his real mother.
Ye Wan didn't know whether it was good or bad for him to know all this now and stood there, speechless for a moment.
"A'ting! I have something important to discuss with you today! It's about your origins." Gu Junbo had witnessed the mutual harm between his two sons and now just wanted to tell both of them the truth.
Gu Yunting's brows furrowed. Ye Wan walked over and took his hand, saying, "Why don't you go out and listen to him? Perhaps it really is something important."
Gu Junbo glanced gratefully at Ye Wan.
"I'll go with you," Ye Wan said, holding his hand tightly and looking at him with a gentle gaze.
Gu Yunting's previously agitated mood instantly calmed down. He suddenly realized that Ye Wan was the salvation of his life. As long as she was there, no matter how volatile he felt, his heart could be instantly soothed.
He tightly clasped Ye Wan's hand in return.
In truth, he knew his most genuine inner desire was to hear what this scumbag father had to say.
...
In the coffee shop downstairs.
Gu Yunting and Gu Junbo sat facing each other. The two similarly featured men were equally striking. Ye Wan didn't sit with them; she chose a table further away, watching Gu Yunting with a gentle smile on her face.
Gu Yunting could see her whenever he looked up, which gave him an immense sense of peace. He looked at the man opposite him and asked, "What do you want to talk to me about?"
His gaze was indifferent as he looked at the man before him. After more than a decade apart, this man felt too much like a stranger. If he hadn't reappeared, Gu Yunting might have forgotten him entirely.
