"Look at the instructions yourself, who can you blame for messing around?" Ye Wan sat to the side, adding fuel to the fire, making it burn even hotter.
Hui Hui angrily threw the pepper spray away and ran over to watch her build the fire. He was indeed hungry now, his stomach growling. Especially as there seemed to be a real aroma, his stomach rumbled even more fiercely.
"Are you done yet! Why is it so slow?" Hui Hui asked impatiently.
Ye Wan felt like rolling her eyes, "Almost, just ten more minutes."
"Ten minutes! How can you roast so slowly!" Hui Hui's eyes widened in urgency.
"Slow? What if it's not cooked through if you take it out too early? Good things are worth waiting for." Ye Wan gazed at Hui Hui's brows and eyes through the firelight, increasingly finding him to resemble her brother, Ye Cheng.
It was truly strange, how could there be a child in this world who looked so much like her brother?
"I know I'm handsome, but you don't have to stare at me like that!" Hui Hui knew he was good-looking and said it with immense narcissism.
"Can your good looks compare to this face?" Ye Wan pointed to her own.
Hui Hui instantly felt deflated. He didn't hesitate and said directly, "Fine, you are indeed very beautiful, the most beautiful in the world besides my mother!"
At least, Hui Hui had never seen a more beautiful young lady.
This was also why he was willing to follow her. He wasn't foolish; he wouldn't bother with anyone else. This young lady wasn't a bad person, which was why he followed her.
"You're quite honest for a child," Ye Wan was amused by him. Perhaps because he resembled her brother so much, she felt a sense of kinship with him, wanting to get close to this child she had just met.
"You're not from this country, what are you doing here?" Hui Hui knew she wasn't a local from her accent.
Although her Mandarin was very good, her accent was still off.
"I'm a member of the Hua Nation delegation, here for a visit." Ye Wan didn't hide it from the child. He was intelligent, and deceiving him would only annoy him.
Besides, he was just a child, there was no need for that.
"No wonder."
"No wonder what?" Ye Wan asked, looking at him.
"Oh, nothing." Hui Hui shook his head, not wanting to say more.
Ye Wan didn't pry. If he didn't want to talk about it, he must have his reasons. Twenty minutes later, Ye Wan dug the sweet potato out of the ground. The aroma was even stronger. Hui Hui was truly hungry now and reached out for it. Ye Wan quickly stopped him, "It's hot, let me."
Ye Wan found a leaf, picked up the sweet potato, carefully tore off the charred skin, blew on it, and then, holding it with the leaf, placed it into Hui Hui's hand.
Hui Hui took a bite, and the sweet, soft, fragrant taste spread in his mouth, making his eyes widen in surprise. "So tasty."
He spoke with his mouth full.
"You only find it tasty because you're hungry," Ye Wan knew Hui Hui must be from a wealthy family and wouldn't lack food. However, this child seemed to have some conflict with his family and ran away. His family was probably frantic.
"No, it's really delicious! I've never eaten anything like it." Hui Hui quickly finished a piece of sweet potato and looked longingly at the second one.
Ye Wan found it amusing and was reminded of her brother's hungry appearance when he was waiting for food, thinking about the hardships her brother had suffered when he was young. She couldn't always feed her brother, and sometimes he would go terribly hungry. She picked the biggest piece, peeled it for him, and gave it to him to eat.
