"I'm going to the restroom," Ye Wan said, finding an excuse to leave and make a phone call.
She called Jin Lan, who was on the verge of losing his temper because Gu Yunting's illness was driving him crazy too. However, when he answered Ye Wan's call, he switched to a relaxed and composed tone, "Hello, Ye Wan, what a surprise to hear from you? Missing me?"
"Jin Lan, I'm with Gu Yunting, at a seaside resort villa!" Ye Wan said.
"Really? You two are too inconsiderate, not inviting me on your vacation! You have no idea how tired I've been lately! I really want to find a place to relax too," Jin Lan complained intentionally.
Ye Wan was speechless.
If Gu Yunting wasn't acting so erratically, if their relationship wasn't so close, she would have believed him.
"Tell me the truth, what's wrong with Gu Yunting?" Ye Wan asked the question weighing on her mind.
"Your question is a bit confusing. What do you mean by 'what's wrong with Ting Ge'? Aren't you with him? Don't you know what's wrong with him? Why are you asking me?" Jin Lan feigned ignorance.
"Gu Yunting has been avoiding me, yet you told me he loves me. Now he's suddenly brought me here and is being so good to me... It's impossible that nothing has happened," Ye Wan wasn't foolish; she could see something was amiss.
"Maybe... maybe he had a change of heart? He realized he was wrong to treat you like that before... so he... changed?" Jin Lan was at a loss for how to explain it.
If the antidote couldn't be found, it would be least damaging to her if Ting Ge didn't appear in her life again.
But in that case, Ting Ge would truly be too pitiful.
Ye Wan was silent.
She knew Jin Lan wouldn't tell her the truth, so she hung up the phone.
When Ye Wan returned, the villa was already filled with the aroma of food. Coupled with the warm sunlight, it made her feel incredibly happy. Thinking of Gu Yunting's previous neglect, she felt an urge to cry.
An hour later, lunch was ready. At the dining table, Gu Yunting kept serving Ye Wan, urging her to eat more. Ye Wan did not disappoint him, eating quite a lot. She was carrying two lives now, so she naturally needed to eat more than before.
"I've thought of a nickname for our daughter, 'Nuan Nuan'!" Ye Wan was inspired by the afternoon sun shining into the house. She felt that Nuan Nuan was a beautiful name for a girl, with good connotations.
She hoped her daughter would be a warm and loving girl.
"Mmm, that's nice, let's call her Nuan Nuan," Gu Yunting also liked the name very much.
"Shouldn't you have already named our son?" Ye Wan said playfully.
"I prefer girls! I don't want boys! If you have a boy, let's call him Duo Yu (Superfluous)," Gu Yunting knew she was still upset and could only try to appease her now.
He truly regretted his impulsive words about wanting a boy. While he didn't have a preference for sons over daughters, it could easily be misinterpreted, especially by a pregnant woman.
"No, my son's name can't be Duo Yu. Think harder!" Ye Wan was displeased. Her son would also be her precious baby; how could he be called Duo Yu? What would the child think of himself?
"Then let's call him Zhuang Zhuang (Strong), so he'll grow up strong and be able to shoulder his responsibilities." Gu Yunting just wanted to clear his name of any perceived preference for sons. He truly felt wronged; he didn't favor boys, he just wanted a son who could take care of her.
