Both of them were sweating, sticking together in a damp embrace.
"Let's take a bath together," Gu Yunting said, picking her up and walking towards the bathroom.
Ye Wan's face turned crimson. She was still embarrassed. Back then, when he insisted on helping her bathe, she felt incredibly awkward. His touch felt like sparks, as if it could set her entire being ablaze. Now, bathing with him, she felt she would die of shyness.
But Gu Yunting's domineering nature was etched into his very core. Even though he was deliberately being gentle now, wanting to share a beautiful moment with her, he wouldn't change his mind once it was made.
The bathtub became a scene of tender intimacy once more. Ye Wan felt like a fish gasping for air, completely at his mercy.
...
The next day, Ye Wan enjoyed a fragrant steamed fish. The flavor was incredibly fresh. She ate half the fish again, but this time, she deliberately controlled her appetite, not daring to eat so much lest she experience yesterday's embarrassment again.
Gu Yunting watched her and said, "You can eat more fish. It won't make you feel as full as cake. Fish is easy to digest."
"You eat some too," Ye Wan noticed Gu Yunting hadn't eaten much and seemed to be letting her eat the most. She proactively served him some fish.
"Alright. I've thought of two names for the child. Listen and see what you think," Gu Yunting said.
"Mhm," Ye Wan's spirits immediately lifted. Her greatest hope was for Gu Yunting to name the child, as it would signify his acceptance of this child.
"The nickname for a girl could be Nuannuan, and for a boy, Chengcheng, from 'chengshi shouxin' (honest and trustworthy). For the formal names, the girl could be Ye Nuanyang, and the boy, Ye Jiaoyang. What do you think?"
Gu Yunting dipped his finger in water and wrote the characters for the names on the table.
Ye Wan thought they were excellent and quite liked them.
"Are you sure the child will have the surname Ye?" Ye Wan found it strange that he was willing for the child to take her surname.
"Yes, your surname," Gu Yunting didn't care about the child's surname. Even if he wasn't going to die, the surname was secondary. The only thing he cared about was that the child was hers, and that was enough.
"Gu Yunting, what on earth has happened to you? Do you have a terminal illness? Don't scare me!" Ye Wan felt he was becoming increasingly erratic.
"Don't overthink it. I'm just... starting to learn to follow my heart," Gu Yunting looked at her deeply. He now deeply regretted his past insincerity, having loved her so much yet pushing her away, even letting her get hurt. Now, wanting to cherish her, there was no more opportunity.
"Do you still not want this child?" Ye Wan couldn't help but wonder again if he didn't want the child to take his surname.
"I want the child. Stop overthinking, and eat quickly. The more you eat, the healthier the baby will be," Gu Yunting served her food.
Ye Wan lowered her head suspiciously. She was determined to uncover the reason for Gu Yunting's unusual behavior.
In the afternoon, Ye Wan napped on the sofa. When she woke up, Gu Yunting wasn't in the villa. She searched upstairs but couldn't find him. She took out her phone to call him, suddenly overcome with fear that he would just leave without a word, and their relationship would return to square one.
The phone was quickly answered. Ye Wan anxiously asked, "Gu Yunting, where have you gone?"
"I saw how much you liked that fish, so I went out to buy another one to make for you tomorrow," Gu Yunting said gently.
Ye Wan breathed a sigh of relief and quickly asked, "Are you back yet?"
