If she had not known the truth, Ye Wan might not have understood these words and would have simply thought he was concerned for her. Now that she knew, she realized his words were like a final instruction, urging her to be safe and not get hurt, and to properly treat any injuries. Seeing his earnest expression, Ye Wan’s heart ached immensely. She stifled her tears and reached out to embrace the man before her.
Gu Yunting, suddenly held by her, asked with a hint of amusement, "What's wrong? Does it hurt a lot?"
Ye Wan shook her head, "No, I just want to hug you."
Gu Yunting pulled the girl into his arms. Looking at her tear-filled eyes, he felt as if his heart had been struck hard. He gently kissed her forehead. "Be good, don't go anywhere today. Just sit on the sofa and rest."
"Gu Yunting, I can't live without you," Ye Wan said hoarsely, her eyes closed. She couldn't imagine how dim her life would be without him.
"Hmm?" Gu Yunting seemed to sense that her words were a little off.
"You're so cruel, why don't you want me anymore? I truly cannot live without you. Can we reconcile, please?" Ye Wan added softly.
Only then did Gu Yunting dismiss his doubts, thinking he had overthought it. She wouldn't know about his poisoning and impending death.
"Ye Wan, the best we can do now is cherish the present and don't think too much," Gu Yunting dared not give her any promises, nor could he.
He tenderly stroked her hair. Even if he couldn't stay in this world with her, he had left her enough money to ensure she would never have to worry about food or clothing for the rest of her life.
"Alright, I won't think about it anymore, and I won't pressure you. Let's just enjoy and cherish the present." Ye Wan looked at the strikingly handsome man before her and proactively kissed the corner of his lips.
Gu Yunting could hardly bear such provocation. He quickly became aroused, pulling the girl onto the sofa and drawing from each other. Both wished they could swallow the other, embracing with such intensity, as if they could merge into one.
After that, apart from meals, the two were inseparable. Before sleeping, Gu Yunting's hand continuously caressed her swollen belly, wanting to feel the baby's movements. He would be filled with regret if he couldn't see the baby before leaving.
Perhaps sensing his father's thoughts, the baby moved in her womb.
Ye Wan felt it too. She was startled and looked at the man beside her with surprise.
"He moved, he really moved! Did you feel it?" Ye Wan excitedly grasped Gu Yunting's hand.
"I felt it, he moved. Is this his first movement?" Gu Yunting found it miraculous. He thought of the baby moving, and it moved.
"Yes, the first time! This is fetal movement, right? Our baby can move now." Ye Wan looked at him excitedly, tears streaming down her face.
"Silly girl, why are you crying?" Gu Yunting reached up to wipe her tears.
"I'm just too happy! Gu Yunting, did you feel it? This is the baby calling out to you." Ye Wan's eyes were red, and she hoped he could feel the baby's longing for him.
They both needed him.
Gu Yunting's hand froze, his face turning a little pale. He felt it too. He loved this baby dearly and wished he could witness its birth and see it grow into an adult.
