Chapter 29 Perhaps It Wasn't a Good Thing

At this moment, Ye Wan and Jiang Mi had already met at the agreed-upon location. Jiang Mi noticed Ye Wan's pale complexion and asked, "Are you alright? Why do you look so unwell?"

"I caught a bit of a cold yesterday after getting caught in the rain and had a slight fever, but I'm fine now," Ye Wan replied with a smile.

"Alright, but don't push yourself. If you feel really unwell, just tell me, and I'll take you to rest," Jiang Mi instructed, looking concerned.

Ye Wan nodded in acknowledgment. The two girls took a taxi to the dock. Upon arrival, Jiang Mi called the person in charge, and they boarded the cruise ship smoothly.

In the changing room, Jiang Mi produced two dresses. She handed one to Ye Wan and said with a smile, "We're about the same build, so you can wear this one."

"How can I do that? How much is it? I'll transfer the money to you." Ye Wan looked at the white long dress in her hand, knowing it must be expensive.

"I bought it at the market; it wasn't much. Don't worry about it. Your coming here has been a huge help to me. Getting a beautiful girl to come along means I get a commission," Jiang Mi said deliberately to ease Ye Wan's burden, then pulled her along to change.

Both of their dresses were modest styles, which was a relief for Ye Wan. She couldn't even wear off-the-shoulder clothes now because of the many marks on her body.

In the white, high-necked mermaid dress, Ye Wan looked instantly transformed, elegant and beautiful. Jiang Mi then styled her long hair into soft curls and applied light makeup.

"Ye Wan, you are truly stunning. If I were a man, I'd marry you in a heartbeat!" Jiang Mi exclaimed, looking at her in admiration.

"Perhaps it's not a good thing," Ye Wan mused. She knew her face was too striking. She didn't resemble her mother, whom she remembered as being merely more dignified than average.

She wondered what Gu Yunting's father had seen in her mother. Gu Furen was far more beautiful than her mother.

"You're not entirely wrong. For safety's sake, I'll make you look a little plainer," Jiang Mi said, intentionally thickening Ye Wan's eyebrows and doing a little work on her, transforming her from a breathtaking beauty into an ordinary one.

Ye Wan was quite pleased with this.

Jiang Mi also deliberately made herself look more ordinary. After all, they were only there to earn money, not like those gold diggers dreaming of marrying into wealth.

Countless other beauties entered the makeup room, all there to earn money. Most women hoped to use this excellent opportunity to latch onto a second-generation rich heir and change their destinies.

Lin Feiwei had come to the cruise ship with friends. As a wealthy heiress, she never lacked friends; they just came and went in waves.

The incident at the club last time had left her very upset. For the past two days, Gu Yunting hadn't answered her calls. Was he really angry? Over a mere maid?

As Lin Feiwei boarded, she immediately spotted Gu Yunting being surrounded by a crowd. Her eyes lit up, and she hurried towards him.

This cruise ship belonged to a friend of Gu Yunting's, and the party today was hosted by him. He had been invited, along with Jiang Jingxiu, Jin Lan, Zhou Muchu, and other scions of prominent families. The appearance of these few instantly became a focal point, drawing the admiring glances and exclamations of all the young women.

"Ah Ting, you're here too." Lin Feiwei walked into the group of distinguished men, sensing the envious and jealous gazes around her, a sense of superiority washing over her.
