Gu Yun Ting was caught off guard and stumbled back a few steps when she pushed him, looking at her with a bewildered expression.
Ye Wan offered no explanation. She turned and went into the bathroom, took another shower, and changed into fresh clothes. Upon exiting, she avoided looking at Gu Yun Ting and instead lay down on her side of the bed, her back to him, and turned off the light, closing her eyes.
Gu Yun Ting watched her resistant back. For the first time, he didn't reach out to pull her closer. He also lay down, closed his eyes, and fell asleep.
Listening to the steady breathing from behind her, Ye Wan's tense body finally relaxed. In this moment, her heart felt like it was bleeding. Did he truly not intend to offer any explanation?
Who was the woman who had taken him away?
...
Ye Wan had the day off today and had no intention of waking up early. Coupled with feeling unwell and sleeping late yesterday, she only woke up at ten o'clock. The spot beside her was already empty.
Ye Wan went downstairs to find out that Gu Yun Ting had left early, skipping breakfast.
With breakfast served on the table, Ye Wan ate while scrolling through her phone. After breakfast, she got up to go upstairs and change, planning to go out and wander around.
After so many years, she had never had a vacation. In the past, holidays meant helping out at the Gu residence, and later, she had to take on various part-time jobs, constantly on the go. Today, she finally had time to go out and explore.
Ye Wan had the driver take her to the most bustling shopping mall. Today, she wore a pink and white cotton coat, jeans, and white sneakers. She carried a canvas bag, looking like a vibrant college student at first glance.
Ye Wan first bought a cup of milk tea. Holding the tea, she browsed the shops. The mall entrance featured a fashion store filled with items that girls would love. Upon entering, Ye Wan grabbed a shopping cart and, for the first time, bought some things for herself: two small doll keychains, two small plush toys, and some accessories like hair clips.
At checkout, she felt like a nouveau riche, swiping her card and paying. Ye Wan then continued browsing with her purchases.
She bought two new outfits and some new toys for her younger brother. After paying, her hands were full.
As she walked out of the toy store, she looked up and saw a familiar figure standing in the panoramic elevator. Gu Yun Ting stood in the elevator like an emperor, a beautiful girl by his side, talking to him with a smile. He was slightly lowering his head, listening attentively to what the girl was saying. Even from a distance, she could sense his patience.
Ye Wan felt something shatter in her heart. The items in her hands dropped to the floor. People nearby looked over curiously. She quickly lowered her head, only to realize she was crying.
She awkwardly crouched down to pick up her belongings, then turned and quickly left the mall.
Inside the elevator, Gu Yun Ting seemed to sense something. He looked up in that direction and saw a familiar back quickly disappear from his sight.
Gu Yun Ting frowned. Yan Jia Yi, standing beside him, asked, "Yun Ting brother, what's wrong? Why the sudden frown?"
"Nothing. Look for anything you like and buy it," Gu Yun Ting said, retracting his gaze.
"Actually, I don't lack anything right now. I know you're busy, so you didn't have to specially accompany me shopping," Yan Jia Yi said playfully, sticking out her tongue.
...
Ye Wan ran out of the mall in one breath. She looked back, but nothing was visible. She felt she was going crazy. Knowing he had many women around him, what was she still expecting?
