Chapter 442 Why Did I Run Out

Manager Zhao, currently a manager in the Human Resources department, held a certain degree of power. He was a lecherous man, and when he saw attractive young women, he would try to exploit them. His usual tactic was to inform the woman that she hadn't been selected, and then call her back with subtle suggestions.

If the woman was cooperative, or willing to pay, he would help her secure the job after he had his way.

He was usually very cautious and had never made any mistakes, as he didn't want to lose his well-paying job.

Today, however, seeing how stunning Miss Ye Wan was, she was exactly his type, and he couldn't help himself. Also, having gotten away with it for so many years, he had become somewhat complacent.

But how could he admit it? In the eyes of his colleagues, his image was still flawless.

He believed he wouldn't be defeated by a mere slip of the tongue from a young girl.

"Look, look at these young girls nowadays, how capable they are, their ability to twist things around is truly remarkable!" Manager Zhao said, pointing at Ye Wan with feigned distress.

"Exactly, what won't these young girls do to get ahead? They don't learn anything good at such a young age. We all know Manager Zhao's character; he would never do such a despicable thing."

His colleagues chimed in, speaking up for Manager Zhao and criticizing Ye Wan.

"According to him, I actively sought him out for a quid pro quo, wanting to bribe him to become the CEO's secretary. If that's the case, why did I run out? Keep talking, why!" Ye Wan, having been pushed to her limit, raised her voice considerably.

Her words stunned everyone present. Yes, if she had approached Manager Zhao for a quid pro quo, why would she have run out in a fit of anger? Wouldn't that mean she got nothing?

The key point was that this girl was truly beautiful, more so than any celebrity on television. Everyone thought no one could refuse such a lovely young woman.

All eyes turned to Manager Zhao.

"Because I rejected you! That's why you're so enraged, threatening to fire me if I didn't comply! And you said you'd make sure I couldn't stay in this company any longer! You are truly venomous!" Manager Zhao, feeling the confused gazes of his colleagues, couldn't stand it and shouted.

For a moment, the HR department sided with Manager Zhao again, beginning to condemn Ye Wan. Ye Wan was speechless.

She didn't want to talk to these people anymore and turned to leave. Manager Zhao immediately stopped her. "You can't leave! You slandered me today and now you want to just walk away? It's not that easy. You must apologize to me sincerely, admit that you slandered me just now, or I will call the police!"

Ye Wan was truly taken aback. This man was shamelessly beyond belief. "Then call the police. It will be good if the police can help me clear my name."

"You... you are truly stubborn. I'm telling you, don't cry when you end up with a criminal record. This charge of slander is very serious!" Manager Zhao tried to intimidate Ye Wan, believing she, as a young girl, would surely be afraid.

"Let me call. I'm going to sue you for slander. The police can determine the truth of the matter," Ye Wan said as she picked up her phone to call the police.

Manager Zhao was equally insistent that he would call first. Seeing that he was going to call, Ye Wan decided to save herself the trouble and not make the call. She would just wait for the police to arrive.

The situation stalled. Manager Zhao stared grimly at Ye Wan, making her feel uneasy, like she was being ensnared by a venomous snake.
