Gu Yun Ting's eyes flickered. He reached out and ruffled her hair. "What's wrong today? Did something happen? I'm going to take a shower first."
Ye Wan immediately grabbed his arm forcefully, staring stubbornly into his eyes and asking, "Gu Yun Ting, do you like me or not?"
Gu Yun Ting frowned, looking at her wronged and sad expression. His heart felt as if it were being squeezed by a large hand, making it almost impossible for him to breathe. He sat down, hugged her, and said in a low voice, "What do you think?"
"I don't," Ye Wan lowered her long eyelashes, concealing the true emotions in her eyes.
"Ye Wan... I've never given any woman any gifts," Gu Yun Ting said hoarsely, his large palm stroking her back.
"Nonsense! You clearly gave Yan Jia Yi a stone today," Ye Wan immediately lifted her eyelashes and glared at him accusingly.
Gu Yun Ting: "..."
"That doesn't count."
In his heart, it truly didn't count. The stone he gave Yan Jia Yi was merely a ploy; he hadn't put any thought into it, nor did he care about it.
"You... you're shameless!" Ye Wan was truly angered by him. She reached out and pushed him forcefully, quickly getting off his lap.
Gu Yun Ting had a chest injury that was recovering these past few days. Being pushed so forcefully by her suddenly caused the wound to split open again, and blood flowed out.
He couldn't help but let out a muffled groan, and his face changed.
Ye Wan was startled and looked at him nervously. "You're injured?"
"It's nothing, just a minor injury." Gu Yun Ting didn't intend to let her know about his injury, nor did he want to put her in danger.
"Gu Yun Ting, I'm your wife now!" Ye Wan was flustered. She went to pull at his clothes. Gu Yun Ting tried to stop her, but Ye Wan was like a little tiger, her strength surprisingly great, and she pulled off his jacket.
The shirt underneath was already dotted with red from the blood. Ye Wan gasped. She knew this man; if it weren't a serious injury, he wouldn't care about a minor wound at all. So, how badly was he hurt?
She suddenly thought of that night a few days ago when he refused to hold her, and she had been sulking. He must have already been injured then.
"It's fine, it's almost healed. I just need to put some medicine on it," Gu Yun Ting reached out and held her trembling small hand, his feelings complex and indescribable.
"I'll go get the medicine," Ye Wan got out of bed to find the first-aid kit. Her heart felt heavy, and the restless emotions were making her want to explode.
Gu Yun Ting couldn't stop Ye Wan. She saw the wound on his chest. It was a long gash, not yet stitched, like an ugly centipede crawling on his chest. A portion of it had seeped blood, presumably from her push just now.
Ye Wan asked nothing. She took the medicinal powder and poured it onto the bleeding area, stopping the flow. Then, she took cotton swabs and carefully wiped away all the bloodstains on his chest.
"It's fine, the stitches can be removed in a couple of days," Gu Yun Ting held her hand. He wanted to be a little heartless towards her recently, so as not to put her in danger. However, he still couldn't bear to see her distressed.
"Gu Yun Ting, can I ask you one more question?" Ye Wan looked up at him, her beautiful dark eyes dotted with starlight.
"Mm."
"Why do you want me to have a child for you? What is your purpose?" Ye Wan finally asked the question that had been troubling her, making her suffer daily.
She had considered the possibility that it was because he liked her, but no matter how much Ye Wan tried to deceive herself, she knew that idea was the least likely.
