Gu Yunting felt he was about to be utterly charmed to death by her. "Don't you worry about this," he said. "Let Jin Lan pay for the room."
"Ah? Why?" Ye Wan looked at him, slightly puzzled.
"Idiot! Because she's his wife. If he doesn't pay for the room, who will?"
Ye Wan looked at the man in front of her, almost in disbelief. Gu Yunting pinched her little nose. "Don't try to seduce me. I'm busy right now and can't satisfy you."
Ye Wan's face instantly turned red. She quickly pushed him away, got out of his embrace, and said indignantly, "Who's seducing you? I'm leaving!"
Knowing that Jiang Yan's request for the room was settled, Ye Wan quickly fled to avoid him saying she was seducing him again.
Gu Yunting watched the girl's retreating back and hooked his lips. He then instructed someone to inform Jin Lan about what he had just told Ye Wan. Upon hearing it, Jin Lan readily agreed, saying he happened to have a vacant property that he could give to Jiang Yan.
...
The host of the banquet announced the arrival of CEO Gu Yunting. Everyone turned their heads in the direction of the host. Gu Yunting appeared at the railing on the second floor. Dressed in an expensive black suit that accentuated his physique like a high-fashion male model, his meticulously styled short hair framed a handsome face that looked exceptionally stern. His king-like commanding aura made people overlook his delicate features, evoking a desire to kneel and worship him.
The crowd below began to applaud. Both men and women alike had fervent admiration in their eyes, testifying to the man's immense popularity. Beside him stood two stunning women and two bodyguards.
Speculation arose among the guests about the identities of these two women.
Ye Wan stood in the most inconspicuous corner. As she watched the man bathed in the spotlight, he felt incredibly unreal.
Never before had Ye Wan truly felt the immense gulf between herself and Gu Yunting, a gap as vast as heaven and earth. Her heart suddenly felt a pang of discomfort.
Jiang Yan walked over and asked, "Who are those two women? What is Gu Yunting up to? Shouldn't he be escorting you out?"
Ye Wan lowered her eyelashes, suppressing the discomfort in her heart, and said with a smile, "We're here today just to freeload food and drinks. If we could also get a room and a car, that would be even better. Why bother thinking about all that?"
Jiang Yan: "..."
She didn't see it that way at all. If Ye Wan truly didn't care, she wouldn't have brought it up. But then again... alas, there was nothing she could do to help her with this kind of matter.
Jiang Yan regretted speaking up.
After Gu Yunting descended, countless people came to greet him. Gu Yunting was very busy, constantly surrounded by people. Of course, only the selected few could get close to him; not everyone could approach him.
Ye Wan remained at the furthest point from him. Accompanied by Jiang Yan and Jiang Mi, the three girls were busy eating, awaiting the lucky draw segment.
"I don't think I'll win a house! I've had bad luck my whole life!" Jiang Mi suddenly said in dejection, her spirits seemingly crushed.
"Don't think like that. Look on the bright side. Besides, even if we don't win, it's great that we're getting a free meal, right?" Jiang Yan, an optimist by nature, hugged Jiang Mi and tried to comfort her.
"You're right. Let's just consider today a free meal for the three of us," Jiang Mi said, coming to terms with it. Sometimes, the more you craved something, the less likely you were to get it.
Perhaps by not thinking about it, she might actually obtain it.
The three girls now only had the lucky draw to look forward to.
