Ye Wan thought of Gu Yunting's indifferent expression. She sighed helplessly, found a needle to prick the blister, squeezed out the fluid, and applied ointment to her finger.
After bandaging her finger simply, Ye Wan suddenly realized that Sun Ma, who should have been in the dining room, was not there today. What was wrong with her? Was she sick?
Thinking of this possibility, she couldn't sit still. She immediately got up and went to Sun Ma's room. When she entered, Sun Ma was lying in bed, and the room was not lit. Ye Wan wanted to turn on the light but was stopped by Sun Ma.
"Don't turn on the light. My eyes are sensitive to light now. Have you eaten dinner?" Sun Ma had been ordered by Ling Feifei to weed all day. Her face was now sunburnt and stinging painfully. She didn't want Ye Wan to see her and worry.
"I ate with my classmates at school." Ye Wan walked to the bedside and sat down. In the dim light, she couldn't see anything wrong with Sun Ma's face.
"That's good. I'm just feeling a bit unwell today and took a day off from the young master. You should go back and rest. I'm going to sleep too," Sun Ma said with a smile.
"Did you have dinner?" Ye Wan asked.
"Yes."
*Gurgle.*
Sun Ma's stomach suddenly growled. She covered her stomach awkwardly. She hadn't eaten all day. That woman had said she wouldn't be allowed to eat until all the grass was weeded. The Gu residence was too large, and there was so much grass. How could she finish weeding it? She had fainted from the sun and was only then allowed to return.
She wondered where the young master found such a troublemaker.
"I'll cook you a bowl of noodles," Ye Wan said and got up to leave.
"No need. I don't want noodles. I have bread here. I'll just eat some bread," Sun Ma stopped Ye Wan. She knew that the woman surnamed Ling most wanted to find fault with Ye Wan. If Ye Wan went to cook for her now, she didn't know how the woman surnamed Ling would bully Ye Wan.
"You're sick. Eating only bread won't do. You'll get better soon," Ye Wan went to the kitchen to cook noodles despite Sun Ma's obstruction.
A servant who went with the flow told Ling Feifei that Ye Wan was cooking noodles downstairs. Ling Feifei went downstairs and saw Ye Wan walking out with a bowl of noodles. She said coldly, "Stop. Who allowed you to cook noodles privately?"
Ye Wan stopped and looked up at her indifferently, "Miss Ling, the Gu residence has no rule prohibiting a servant from cooking a bowl of noodles for themselves."
"That was before. The rules have changed! Because I'm in charge here now. If I say no, then no!" Ling Feifei said, picking up the bowl of noodles from the tray and pouring it directly into the nearby trash can.
Ye Wan tightened her grip on the tray, wanting to say something, but she saw someone walking down the stairs. It was Gu Yunting. He had seen everything that had just happened. Ling Feifei was momentarily guilty. Her eyes darted, and she immediately walked over and hooked his arm, acting spoiled, "A Ting, the servants at home are too undisciplined. It's past dinner time, and they're secretly cooking noodles. Don't they take their masters seriously at all?"
"Then let's make a new rule. No noodles will be cooked at night from now on!" Gu Yunting raised his hand and dotingly pinched Ling Feifei's chin.
Ye Wan watched this scene and turned to leave, not wanting to stay there for another second. Her hands trembled slightly with anger. She knew Gu Yunting was doing it on purpose. Why did her chest feel so suffocated?
"Stop. Did I permit you to leave?" Gu Yunting's eyes grew colder as he watched Ye Wan act as if she didn't care about him flirting with another woman.
When Ye Wan stopped and turned around, her expression had become utterly indifferent. She asked expressionlessly, "Do you two have any other orders?"
"Tonight, you will go upstairs to serve Feifei and me as we bathe!" Gu Yunting wanted to see if she was as calm as she appeared.
