Chapter 256 The gift I made for you with my own hands

Ye Wan clutched her schoolbag to her chest, quickly unzipping it to check the contents. Reassured that the ring was still inside, she felt at least her injury hadn't been in vain.

Gu Yunting, still fuming, saw something precious in her bag and strode over, snatching it from her.

"What are you doing? Give it back!" Ye Wan tugged desperately at the strap.

But his grip was too strong. Her hand was hit again, and this time she had no strength left. Gu Yunting ripped the schoolbag from her grasp, angrily unzipped it, and poured everything out.

"Let me see what treasure it is that makes you risk your life!"

Books and pens scattered across the floor as the contents spilled out. A small box for the ring tumbled out and rolled to Jin Lan's feet.

Jin Lan bent down and picked up the small blue box.

"Give it back to me." Ye Wan immediately got out of bed, wanting to retrieve the ring. She wasn't ready to give it to Gu Yunting yet.

"You risked your life for this? Did that boy give it to you?" Gu Yunting snatched the box back and demanded.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Just give it back!" Ye Wan gritted her teeth against the pain in her knee and lunged for it.

Seeing her frantic desperation, Gu Yunting angrily flung the small box out the window.

Ye Wan watched the box fly out, her eyes immediately reddening. She was about to rush outside to find it when Gu Yunting grabbed her, preventing her from leaving.

"Let me go… that was a gift I made for you!" Ye Wan shouted, enraged.

Gu Yunting froze, disbelieving. A gift she made herself? He vaguely recalled seeing her enter a shop that sold handmade silver jewelry.

So, she had gone to make a gift for him?

He remembered that after he'd thrown away the candy she'd given him, she hadn't given him any gifts since.

Jin Lan's eyes lit up upon hearing this. "Hurry and go find it! If you don't, someone else will pick it up."

Gu Yunting's arms, still holding Ye Wan, stiffened. He huffed arrogantly, "Find what? It's just a small gift, is it worth risking your life?"

As he spoke, his heart pounded. So she hadn't wanted her handmade gift to be snatched by a thief, which was why she'd held onto it so fiercely.

"Yes, I risked my life for a small gift!" Ye Wan was also angry. She broke free from his grip, pushed him away indignantly, walked to the bedside, and lay down, her back to them. Tears streamed down her face. He didn't even want it, so why should she be in a hurry?

Just like the candy he'd thrown away, he didn't realize it was her genuine heart.

She knew he'd long since dismissed it.

"I'll go buy dinner," Gu Yunting said, about to leave.

"No need, I'll order takeout, it'll arrive soon," Jin Lan said earnestly, taking out his phone to order.

"I'll go buy water!"

Just as Jin Lan was about to speak, Gu Yunting shot him a look, and Jin Lan immediately fell silent. He watched as the man stumbled out of the room, his steps hurried and agitated. Jin Lan finally couldn't help but laugh.

"Ye Wan, wait up, I'll go help you look," Jin Lan said, then quickly ran out to chase after Gu Yunting.

They searched for a long time downstairs but couldn't find the small box. Jin Lan grumbled, "See, I told you. Someone must have picked it up."
