Chapter 304 The Love in Her Eyes Didn't Seem Fake

Seeing this, Chu Yu felt a surge of blood rush to his head. He clenched his fists tightly, his eyes gradually turning red. He never expected that his most respected uncle would be doing such a dirty deed with the girlfriend who claimed to love him.

"Xiao Yu, what's wrong? I'll call the doctor right away, don't scare your mother." Madam Chu noticed her son's distress and rushed out to call the attending physician.

Jin Lan had already released Jiang Yan and intended to check on Chu Yu. Upon seeing Jin Lan's face, Chu Yu suddenly closed his eyes, unwilling to look at him any longer.

"Chu Yu, how are you? What else is bothering you?" Jiang Yan's voice, tinged with tears, broke the silence. Chu Yu's anger intensified upon hearing her pitiful tone, and he forced himself to calm down.

The attending physician arrived. Jiang Yan and Jin Lan were asked to step aside. After the examination, the doctor stated that Chu Yu's top priority was rest, and only family members should stay. Others were to leave.

Jin Lan offered to stay, suggesting his sister go home to rest as she hadn't slept all night and could return later.

Madam Chu insisted she wasn't tired and had to stay by her son's side; otherwise, she wouldn't feel at ease. She added that her child had always been frail and she wouldn't want to live if anything were to happen to him.

In the end, only Jiang Yan left. She looked at Chu Yu with lingering affection, her eyes full of devotion. Chu Yu was also looking at her, and seeing the tearful, devoted gaze of the girl, he was deeply shaken. Chu Yu began to doubt his conviction that Jiang Yan had betrayed him. He closed his eyes, recalling every moment he had spent with Jiang Yan; her eyes indeed held genuine love.

Could there be a hidden reason behind all this? Was his uncle forcing her?

Chu Yu's mind became a chaotic mess once more.

He no longer knew what or whom to believe, or if anything in this world was still worth believing.

...

Jin Lan made a call to Jiang Jingxiu, informing him that his nephew had been in a car accident and was being attended to, and that he would head over shortly.

"No wonder I couldn't reach you. How is Chu Yu?" Jiang Jingxiu asked worriedly.

"He's out of danger and seems to be out of the woods for now." Jin Lan rubbed his aching temples. He wasn't unreachable yesterday because of Chu Yu's accident, but because he had been forcing himself upon a girl.

However, he had been under the influence of drugs yesterday and Jiang Yan was unaware of the truth.

"Don't worry about my brother and Ye Wan. They're both alright, though they seem to be in very low spirits. I wonder if this incident will create any lingering issues between them," Jiang Jingxiu said with concern.

"It'll take time. As long as Ye Wan understands my brother's intentions, she'll come to terms with it."

They spoke for a while longer before hanging up. Jin Lan went to the attending physician to inquire about his nephew Chu Yu's condition.

It was evening when Jin Lan decided to go home to get some things. As he left, he saw Jiang Yan sitting in the small garden beside the hospital. She hadn't left and had been crying there all along, her eyes swollen. Jin Lan's heart ached fiercely.

As Jin Lan was about to go and comfort her, someone else reached Jiang Yan first. Ning Xin draped a piece of clothing over Jiang Yan, who hugged Ning Xin and wept even harder.

Jin Lan felt a sudden wave of irritation. He stopped in his tracks, turned, and quickly left the hospital.
