Ye Wan was already used to her bossiness, and after discussing her younger brother staying over on the weekend, Jiang Yan readily agreed.
The moment Ning Xin looked up, she saw Ye Wan and Jiang Yan chatting and laughing, and her heart felt as if a gaping wound had just been torn open and was bleeding profusely!
How could they be so happy when she had been defiled by those two ugly ghosts?!
After school at noon, Ning Xin sidled up again. She now knew that the men Ye Wan knew were all top-notch, and she couldn't afford to lose Ye Wan as a friend.
Ye Wan and Jiang Yan said they wouldn't be eating in the cafeteria. They were going to move their things out of the dormitory.
Ning Xin's expression froze. She asked, "Are you... are you still mad at me? I really didn't mean to. Can you forgive me this once?"
"Ning Xin, don't overthink it. Go eat. We're going to move our things now," Jiang Yan said, then pulled Ye Wan away.
Ning Xin stood rooted to the spot, tears streaming down her face. The tears blurred her vision, distorting Ye Wan and Jiang Yan's retreating figures.
Ye Wan and Jiang Yan moved their belongings to a rented apartment that same noon. The apartment was located right next to the school, in a high-rise building. Jiang Yan rented the top floor, a two-bedroom apartment, decorated very warmly.
After putting their things down, Ye Wan ordered takeout. While waiting for the delivery, the two began to tidy up.
Once everything was organized, the takeout arrived. The two girls sat at the dining table, eating and talking.
"Do you think we might have gone too far?" Jiang Yan asked, biting into a pan-fried dumpling.
"Ning Xin's one moment of confusion almost cost us our lives. I don't want a repeat of that," Ye Wan shook her head, admitting that if it wasn't absolutely necessary, she was quite fond of her life.
"It's good you think that way. I was just afraid you'd be soft-hearted. Let's not talk about this anymore, it's depressing. Let's talk about something happy. I'll treat you, Ye Cheng, Jiang Mi, and Mian Mian to a meal sometime! We'll eat at the most expensive place!" Jiang Yan said expansively again.
"Even if you have money, spend it wisely. Don't waste it. Just eat well," Ye Wan handed her the white fungus soup she had specifically ordered.
...
After school in the afternoon, Ye Wan visited her brother at the hospital and then went to see Jiang Mi and Mian Mian. It was getting quite late when she left the hospital. On the bus, it was crowded, so Ye Wan found an empty spot to stand.
At a middle stop, a few more people got on. Ye Wan saw Jun Li Chen, whom she hadn't seen in a long time. He also saw her and smiled, greeting her.
"Ye Wan, long time no see. How have you been recently?" Jun Li Chen approached her proactively to say hello.
"I'm doing well. How about you, senior?" Ye Wan politely returned the greeting.
"I'm doing well too. Oh, right, I remember you're majoring in English. Could you do me a favor?" Jun Li Chen asked.
"What can I help you with?"
"Let's get off at the next stop. I'll treat you to dinner, and we can talk properly," Jun Li Chen gestured for her to get off.
Ye Wan said, "Let's talk on the bus. I'm afraid I'll miss my bus home, it's too late."
"I've recently partnered with some friends to start a company and we're working on a project that needs a translator to help with documents. I was hoping you could help. Let's have dinner, I'll show you the materials. Of course, there will be compensation," Jun Li Chen said with a smile.
Ye Wan's face flushed, and she quickly explained, "That's not what I meant."
"I know that's not what you meant. Even close brothers have to be clear about accounts. Let's go, you can look at the materials first."
The bus stopped, and Jun Li Chen pulled her off.
