Thinking of this, her eyes began to sting and water, and she could barely suppress her sadness. When she had suddenly learned that she was pregnant, she had been dazed. She had only thought of herself, wanting to be with the man of her dreams whom she had secretly admired for years, and was determined to abort the child.
However, now that she had calmed down and saw how cute the baby was, she found herself unable to go through with it.
Ye Wan noticed her unusual behavior and asked with concern, her arm linked with hers, "What's wrong? You look like you've lost your soul. Tell me what's bothering you."
Jiang Yan was in a state of confusion. She needed to sort out her thoughts. She said, "Ye Wan, I'm going back first. Take good care of your brother, and call me if anything comes up."
After speaking, Jiang Yan pushed her away and ran. Ye Wan called out to her twice, but she didn't look back. Ye Wan had no choice but to return to her brother.
When Ye Wan returned, she didn't see Fu Huaishen. She didn't think much of it. She watched her brother from outside the hospital room. Seeing him asleep, she sat down to rest.
When Fu Huaishen returned, he was holding two cups of hot coffee and some snacks. He handed one cup of coffee to Ye Wan, who took it and thanked him.
"Why are you so unwilling to compromise? If you agree to marry me, I promise to make your life comfortable for the rest of your days. You can see for yourself that I truly like you!" Fu Huaishen sat down beside her and offered her the snacks.
Ye Wan looked at him helplessly. "Can you stop saying such things?"
"Can't I express my feelings? Then tell me, who do you want to marry? Gu Yunting?" Fu Huaishen asked tentatively.
"No, I haven't thought about getting married. I'm still young and not ready to consider it," Ye Wan replied, shaking her head.
"That's right. It means anyone has a chance to pursue you. So, what's wrong with me starting to pursue you now?" Fu Huaishen was utterly convinced by her words.
"Your actions put a burden on me," Ye Wan said honestly.
"Heh heh, if you feel that way, then my goal is achieved." Fu Huaishen believed that to pursue Ye Wan, he needed to be thick-skinned. Otherwise, given her temperament, she would likely reject any man's advances.
Ye Wan remained speechless.
"Do you want to try mine? My cup is also delicious." Fu Huaishen offered her his coffee.
The two sat together talking, unaware that someone nearby was watching them. Seeing Fu Huaishen and Ye Wan talking so 'intimately,' the person clenched their fist tightly.
As the two were gathered together eating, the person approached them, appearing to be just a passerby. Fu Huaishen heard the sound and glanced over, but his attention was on Ye Wan. He looked away after a brief glance.
"You vixen, go to hell!" The person suddenly lunged at Ye Wan with a bottle of liquid, splashing it towards her. At this moment, their face was revealed, filled with fierce hatred.
Fu Huaishen was faster than Wen Jiayue. That brief glance had made him recognize the ring on the person's hand—it was Wen Jiayue!
He quickly got up, hugged Ye Wan, and fell to the side. As he hit the ground, he shielded her protectively with his chest.
Ye Wan was still dazed, not understanding what had happened. A pungent smell of burnt flesh and plastic filled the air, almost making her gag. Fu Huaishen, enduring intense pain, pushed himself up and kicked Wen Jiayue away.
The bottle fell from her hand. Fu Huaishen collapsed onto the ground, veins bulging on his forehead. It was then that Ye Wan understood what had just occurred.
