"Thank you, Brother." Lin Feiwei was relieved to confirm that her brother and Ye Wan knew nothing about her true identity.
"Thank you," Ye Wan also expressed her gratitude, then lowered her head and began to eat earnestly.
"A'Ting, you eat." Lin Feiwei, now at ease, relaxed and kept putting food on Gu Yunting's plate.
"You two have been together for quite some time. When do you plan to get married?" Lin Zehan felt that this future brother-in-law was always distant with his sister. If he had any say, he wouldn't let his sister marry such a man.
However, their parents were exceptionally pleased with this marriage, and his sister herself was very fond of Gu Yunting, so he didn't feel he could say much.
Upon hearing the question, Ye Wan looked up at Gu Yunting opposite her. She also longed to know when they would finally get married and when she could leave the Gu residence.
She had initially thought that Gu Yunting using her to exchange for his fiancée this time would settle the debt of her life, and she could then leave the Gu residence. Who knew that Lin Feiwei would end up suffering for her instead, and her reason for leaving disappeared.
"Aunt Gu said it would be within this year," Lin Feiwei said shyly.
"That's good." Lin Zehan looked at Ye Wan's face, which showed no particular emotion regarding his sister and Gu Yunting's upcoming marriage, and felt somewhat reassured.
When Ye Wan heard "within this year," her eyes brightened considerably. It was already September, meaning she only had to stay at the Gu residence for less than half a year before she could leave.
Gu Yunting was displeased by her expression. He stretched his long legs and hooked Ye Wan's calf. Startled, Ye Wan, who was drinking, choked and coughed.
She looked up and quickly glared at the man opposite her, signaling him to behave. His fiancée and future brother-in-law were present, and it would be too awkward if he were discovered.
"Miss Ye, are you alright?" Lin Zehan quickly handed her a tissue.
Ye Wan waved her hand, indicating it was unnecessary, and shot another glare at the instigator opposite her. She tried to pull her leg away from him, but he held it firmly, rendering her immobile. Fearing to cause a scene that might alert the unsuspecting siblings, she could only pretend to lower her head and continue eating. After several unsuccessful attempts to escape, Ye Wan felt her heart was about to burst.
Her reaction, in Lin Feiwei's eyes, was Ye Wan deliberately provoking her and flirting with Gu Yunting. She was so angry she couldn't eat. Yet, she dared not confront them, as she was still unsure of Gu Yunting's true intentions.
After the meal, the four of them left the restaurant. Lin Feiwei initially wanted to continue riding in his car, but Gu Yunting refused, stating he had something to attend to and couldn't drive her. He then ordered Ye Wan into his car, on the pretext of taking her back to the Gu residence to work.
Ye Wan apologized to Lin Zehan and had no choice but to board Gu Yunting's car with a heavy heart.
After the car drove off, Lin Zehan frowned and looked at his sister. "Are you set on marrying Gu Yunting? He's not a man you can control."
"What do you mean? If I can't control him, can Ye Wan? You're already defending her before anything even happens! I'm telling you, the Gu family won't allow a maid to marry in!" Lin Feiwei threw a tantrum and left by taxi.
Lin Zehan was baffled by his sister's outburst. He had kindly tried to warn her. What nonsense was she spouting? Defending whom? Who was he defending?
Lin Zehan, also filled with frustration, drove away. He called his secretary and told him not to bother looking for a translator anymore, as he had already found someone.
